She ran as fast as she could. She wanted to get away from it all. Away from Him, her divine husband, her Mahadev. Away from all of them. Her brother, the preserver of all the world, his wife Devi Lakshmi, her sakhi and all the other Gods and Goddesses. All those who loved her. Who were now fearful of her. No . She didn't want to think about it. She just wanted to escape to the confines of her home.
The white expanse in front of her seemed infinite. She had never felt that before. She had never felt lost here. After all it was her home. She was Kailash Swamini. But now she was not sure of anything, even of herself. She was lost.
She walked towards her home tears streaming down her cheeks. They would come to her, he would find her. But right now she wanted to be alone. She could barely look at herself. She knew she had returned to her old self, atleast physically. Yet she couldn't bear to look lest she should find some remnant of that destructive warrior that had wreaked havoc in the battlefield. She still couldn't accept that the fiery warrior, the very thought of who had unnerved her was she herself. She cringed at the thought of the fear she had seen in their faces as she left. But she couldn't blame them for it. She had lost her peace over a nightmare in which she had seen her other self and they had actually seen her wreak havoc. How would they not be worried?
Even the familiar surroundings of her home couldn't calm the storm in her mind. The scenes from the battlefield played out in her mind. One moment she had been herself, the docile and innocent Parvati, the devoted wife, Mahadev's Gauri, one who nurtured and loved the smallest things in nature. She had stood there alone and confused, wondering why both her brother and husband had left her alone when she needed them. And then she had seen those asurs walk towards the other Goddesses. In that moment she felt an urge to help them, to fight back and the next thing sheckbew she was someone else. Someone who was the exact opposite of everything she was. A dark and fearsome being, a force of fury and destruction. One who without hesitation wiped out the very creation she loved. She had created pools of blood.
She closed her eyes trying to escape the reality. But there was no escape. She knew what she had done. She had slain the Devas. She had ignored her brothers pleas to stop. All that she could try to forget. But the last one act she would never forget or forgive herself for. She had stepped on her husband, her Mahadev to whom the Gods vowed. Whom all existence respected and feared. She had made him lie in the battlefield among the dead. She had forced him to do that. She had left him no other choice. The thought of it killed her. She had crossed all the limits of a woman. Yet he wasn't angry with her. He had tried to convince her it was necessary. She didn't care. She only knew it had destroyed everythingshe was. She couldn't bare to see him again.
She knew He would come to her soon. But this was her fight with herself. How could someone who had akways cherished and loved the least of things destroy everything she loved? How could a mother and destroyer reside in the same self? Would she turn into Kali again ? Would she do the same heinous things again.
Maybe she wouldn't. Maybe it was gone. She would just be herself. The ever gentle Parvati.she hoped so. Yet she knew it wasn't so.
"Anth hi aarambh hai. " she remembered him telling her.
This was just the beginning.
Beginning of a journey of self discovery.
