Genie, high five on the merger news that seems to have plunged much of this fandom into doom and gloom. Unlike you I only started watching IB after the Mahasangam and have been keeping up with it since with generous doses of FF thru the many unbearable bits. I enjoy the OBros but maybe even more I enjoy the OBahus and I've come to look forward to the Shivaay-Gauri interaction which is utterly endearing. If we get more of that family dynamic via the merger, I'll be happy as long as I have that firm hold on the FF controls. I can understand the panic over Rikara being sidelined in the merger but at this stage even for a newbie like me it seems like suicide for the franchise and I don't think that will happen. I'm an incurable optimist and refuse to apologize for it 😉

Onto your main point - Gauri's dangerous mission to save Omkara at all costs. I do see where you're coming from - this is a terrible self-destructive lie, one with the power to crush not just Omkara but all of the Oberois. Jahnvi's touching conversation with Om on what the baby means to her drove that home. I'm not defending Gauri here but my understanding of her character is that she's willing to take any risk, pay any price to keep Om alive and this wasn't a well thought thru strategy that looked at the collateral damage or even the damage to Omkara's emotional well being. She was horrified at BuaMaa's evil intent and jumped in feet first with little thought for what lies ahead. She's well intentioned and brave but also young, impulsive and foolish. We're only just starting to see Gauri's realization and horror at the awful consequences of her impulsive move. It seems to me that she is beginning to see that her cure may almost be worse than the affliction but she's now neck deep in this mess and there's no good way to come clean and resolve it. She has to see it thru in the hope of exposing BuaMaa and letting the chips fall as they may. That the Oberois will hurt is a given, her only hope is that the monumental relief everyone will feel on Om being saved from BuaMaa will offset the hurt and betrayal caused by the terrible lie.

I do think the intent is to try to even the scales - Om is guilty of terrible prejudice and vicious stereotyping, hurting Gauri in the worst way possible by destroying her dignity and esteem and Gauri is callously plunging ahead with her ends-justify-means strategy to save Omkara's life but crushing his heart and soul in the process. Maybe they smash each other to smithereens and the point is that only each of them can put the other back together again? It seems needlessly crazy and convoluted but in this overly dramatic soap world maybe this is what the path of star-crossed lovers looks like 😃

You've made your point beautifully Paroma and I find I agree completely with everything you've said.

Knowing what is in the offing and still waiting for it to happen is like having the knowledge of an accident about to happen but not being able to do anything about it. It is excruciating...

I agree with you about Gauri... just because she's got presence of mind and is quick on her feet, we the viewers often give her more responsibility than she's capable of handling. She has always been the finger-in-the-dike sort of problem solver. Of course, it's been one problem after another with her for a while now and she's been handling things as well as she can while flying by the seat of her pants. In that she does admirably... but when it comes to actual planning and execution, she lacks in more than one manner.

I guess Omki is the brains of the operation while Gauri is the executor... they're good together as evinced by their teamwork during the Chulbul phase, but maybe not exactly stellar individually when it comes to stuff like this.

While intentions should count, they often do not... especially in situations involving broken hearts and intense emotions. This fake pregnancy thing is definitely gonna come back to bite her... how badly is something that depends on the CVs.

What I dislike about this situation is the way it is being used to bring us, the viewers, back into Omkara's team because Gauri is being jumping in feet first without a thought to the possible consequences. I don't like their having to show one of them being worse than the other at any given situation for us to support one of them. These two are supposed to be the leads of this show and I should like them whether they're being likable at the moment or not. The CVs shouldn't have to keep see-sawing between the two to keep our support or attention stuck on them... I just wish they'd understand this.

Most of us fans are here for good, clean fun with the OBros, some bhabhi-devar interactions, some bade bhaiyya-bulbul cuteness and of course, a lot of RiKara. If they could package episodes so as to contain some of all of these, I believe they'd hit on their success formula. There's no need for weird face mask removals, murders, ice boxes, various Lana's, creepy Bua Maa and her box of horrors and even tension between TejVi... just give us what we want and we'll give you what you want... the TRPs you hunger after.
