She probably signed on to this film around the same time as Boom's shooting. They released the same year and she was modeling on the side in India so this story is not too far fetched.
Also this article is wrong, Saaya was Anurag Basu's film not Anurag Kashyab, which is pretty funny I remember the articles from the Jagga Jasso's shooting days where they said Basu would yell or get upset on set because he felt Katrina was not emoting well. Ironic that he kicked her out one of his first films.
