The sight before him had his palms in fists, his eyes red with anger and hurt, his heart shattering into countless sharp jagged pieces cutting into his soul.. She clearly had not realized he was there, looking at her, for she still sat against the wall, drawing support as if she could not sit or exist even, on her own, her hand cupping her mouth to stifle her wails, the other hand tugging at her bun which was now a mess. Not knowing what to do, He in one swift movement, scooped her up into her arms, despite her protests and bitter words, ignoring them all as he took her into their room again and locked their door, dropping her onto the bed. When she tried to get up and leave he pushed her back down, caging her in his arms until she had cried, and yelled angrily at him, and pushed against him so much that she had no strength left to insult him or make an attempt to leave again.
"Shhh" he whispered, rocking her in his lap, kissing her temple.
"I'm here Annika, your Shivaay is here. Just tell me, what's going on? I will fix everything."
"Trust me, if mom did something I will handle it. Whatever it is, we deal with this together, but don't separate yourself from me like this please." He begged, kissing her tears away, as he pulled away to look at her.
"Shivaay, let me go."she requested again as she calmed down, ready to jump out of his embrace, but he would not let her.
"Don't do me this. Tell me. We talk things out remember. What's got you like this?" His eyebrows crinkled, his palms cupping her face, pleading with her, for he could not stand to see her like this.
When she remained silent and looked down, he sighed and leaned his forehead against hers, holding her hands in her lap.
"Is it something you can't tell me?"
When she did not say anything, he exhaled.
"Fine, don't tell me. Tell me whenever you can. But just don't... don't walk away from me like this.. We can postpone our first night if you wish. But why are you going outside? Hmm? Don't distance yourself from me."
She looked up at him, fresh tears forming in her eyes, "What if I do?"
He jerked his head away in response, clasping a palm over her mouth, clearly appalled.
"Don't ever say that." He warned, in a low detrimental voice, as he moved his palm away.
"Shivaay.. what if I do?" She dared to ask softly.
"Then I won't survive without you." He whispered, looking into her eyes, nodding his head slightly, the vibrant blue sapphire specks transitioning into a dull grey-like shade as the thought crossed his mind.
"Why? "She was tired of it all, her eyes red and burning. She allowed herself the audacity to ask questions, the answers of which she would take with her, holding them close to her heart.
"Because... jab tum meri saamne nahi hain, toh meri saasein ruk jaate."
"Why?"
"Because when I don't see you, or talk to you, my day isn't complete."
"Why Shivaay?" She asked, tears cascading down her cheeks and her brushed them away furiously, making her look into his eyes.
"That's what I've been trying to show you. I don't know what's happening to me, Annika." He admitted softly, as if it were a secret.
Her eyes widened, as she saw something dance across those blue orbs, something that made her truly believe she was dreaming.
"Raita phail gaya, Annika... raita phail gaya" He couldn't deny it any longer. The red nosed woman in his lap, in his arms, needed to know. He felt as if she were sand particles slipping through his fingers. She needed to know, that which he did not even know he knew. As he said those words, he smiled incredulously, amazed at the truth, at what he had said, what he had finally accepted.
And she stared up in wonder, her tears falling endlessly due to her predicament. How could she leave him after this? How could she break the man she had molded to be whole with her love? She made a mental note to talk to Tia again, to do anything she could do to fix this. Anyone who would support her, anyone who would help her. Because after this confession, no one would be able to separate her from Shivaay. No one could tear them apart after this night. She knew that now, once she explained properly, with reinforcement, he would listen. He would break but she would be there to handle him. Without the truth, he could never be whole in the absence of his wife, his love.
And when he leaned down to kiss her nose, she smiled for the first time sitting in his lap that night, tightening her arms around his neck. His lips trailed up to her forehead and then down to her lips, and this time there was no interruption.
A blur of kisses and touches, caresses and cries of love and pleasure followed, all accompanied by the both of them repeating three words. Three words that destiny had created for their use the very day she shattered his windscreen and ego at the hands of a mere bat. When two souls united, there was no power in this world that could ever separate them.
"I love you." were the last words uttered before both had fallen into a slumber, the moon a witness to such a union the coming days would never dare to attack.
