- He was homeschooled.

- Tagore was sent to England to be a Baristar but did not complete his degree. Once because he was homesick.

- Tagore's inspiration came from his boudi/sister in law Kadambari Devi. After Kadambari's suicide Rabi was devastaded.

- He lost his children at very young ages.

- Every kid of Jorashako was Rabi uncle's fan.

- He is the only poet who penned two national anthems: Bangladesh and India's.

- Nazrul joined a leto (travelling theatrical group) at a young age where he wrote, sang and acted.

- He worked in many odd jobs...one being a cook.

- Studying up to Class X, Nazrul did not appear for the matriculation pre-test examination, enlisting instead in the Indian Army in 1917.

- His poetry and nationalist activism earned him the popular title of Bidrohi Kobi (Rebel Poet). He was thrown in jail for his work.

- His two sons and wife died in his lifetime. His two daughters, Khilkhil and Mishti Kazi lives.

2. Name your favorite work of Rabidranath and Nazrul Islam.Daridro by Naazrul Islam and Amar Shonar Bangla ofcourse by Tagore....oh and I love his Indian anthem too😛

3. Recently many of their songs, poems have been remixed. Some say remixes hold more appeal to the younger generation...others disagree. What is your view on that? Remixes are cool but I think people should think twice about remixing pieces of such historical significance.

4. Do you remember reading their poems and short stories in school? Share your experiences.Nope...I've grown up in America so I haven't really had any experience with those.

5. Additional comments: Nice topic!👏

1. Who is your favorite poet and why? There are lots..Rabidranath & Jashim Uddin right now..😳

2. Name your favorite work of Rabidranath and Nazrul Islam. Shoner Tari & Nation Anthem of Rabidronath & Kabor of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

3. Recently many of their songs, poems have been remixed. Some say remixes hold more appeal to the younger generation...others disagree. What is your view on that? I completly disagree..I think the originals can't compare to anything. New tide of music is Ok but not remix ofcourse.

4. Do you remember reading their poems and short stories in school? Share your experiences. Yeah Rabidranaths "Chuti" in class nine..I most cried after reading that. I felt soo bad abt Fotik..& thought how cruel this world can be?

Next is National Anthem of Rabidranath...Once we were in morning assembly & somebody fr back said.."Amar Shoner Gamlaaaaaa...Ami tomai bechai (sold) khaichi.." & we somegirl laughed hearing this.

When the assembly was over one Mam call us & make us understand wat Nation Anthem means to us, how precious & sacred it is...she didn't scold us but her words touched my heart. Still i remember that day 😳😳!! But boy's still continue doing that...

5. Additional comments: Superb Choise Rimj...Very good post!! Well done 👏 👏 👏 👏

6. The next COTW should be: Umm don't know..Some Intellectuals of our country 😃

Okay now, Q &A time:

1. Who is your favorite poet and why?

I personally have listened to more Tagore songs n poems than Nazrul's, even though I remember singing both. I havent read Gitanjali, but love his collection.

2. Name your favorite work of Rabidranath and Nazrul Islam.

By far, Tagores Gitanjali, both volumes are his best collection of peoms n songs...Nazruls..I am not tht aware of...

3. Recently many of their songs, poems have been remixed. Some say remixes hold more appeal to the younger generation...others disagree. What is your view on that?

The only remix version that I happen to like is AR Rahman's rendition of the National Anthem. That touches my soul like nothing other...😳

4. Do you remember reading their poems and short stories in school? Share your experiences.

Yes, Some short stories and some famous poems. we used to recite many Tagore poems as kids during Durga Poojo and also sing both Nazrul n tagor songs...the r some good memories..

5. Additional comments:

Both were the most significant part of Bangla music n peoms..there songs and poems can never become old or one can never get bored of listening to songs like "boro asha kore, money ki dhidha, ai moni haar amar" they are evergreen songs...

6. The next COTW should be:

I can do the next contest of the week, based on some bollywood dialogues...

Enjoy 😊
