I like the outsider guys from the young generation like karthik and even saqib. I don't like the overhyped star kids these days

Hype is created when people want to know about someone more.. Starkids get ample exposure even before their debut because their parents are well known and so not a lot needs to be done to generate hype for them.. Their parents have fans who considered the said stars as their own and thus view the starkids with the same lens.. People want to see them and know them just as they would like to know their own.. Outsiders have to work to get interest piqued

As for opportunities, everyone wants to work with people they are comfortable with.. Heck, even my senior took her bahu in a research when there were better candidates because it would be easier to work with her.. That is not restricted to BW alone..

PS: this debate is getting stale

I understand the comfort of working with your own. but this is more about well known producers and directors who are constantly casting starkids or launching them just because of their background. Any industry, to proliferate, has to let talented people or more outsiders in. If more new talent came through auditions, it would only help bollywood to grow as an industry. and it would be an equal playing field in terms of opportunities instead of this horribly skewed state of affairs currently. and nobody would be even talking about this, if bollywood itself was not struggling because more and more dud movies and mediocre performances.

At the end of the day, its their money... They can chose it to spend it on whoever they want.. If they think someone they know gets their money as compared to any outsider, so be it.. You cannot expect anyone to put their money on anyone as per your liking
people here call Alia overrated, Varun overrated, but people go to see their movies more as compared to an outsider like Sid.. You cannot just put the whole blame on the producers

If two movies of new leads are releasing, and both are promoted in the exact same manner, I can bet that the one with starkids will have a bigger opening simply because people would want to know whether the starkid is like his parent or not

DQ and Prithvi in Malayalam are good actors. Telugu I agree is filled with mega families. Tamil too has it's share, but there are failures like Shruti and no one propping her up. And the thing is they act rings around BW starkids, not Shruti but most. Imagine DQ failing to act properly. It would be worse than Abhishek.

On topic: Nepotism is there but not to this degree except in Telugu. The fact is if these kids can act then it is not an issue. But the majority cannot or are not willing to put in the effort. An Alia or a Ranbir comes once in a blue moon. Hence, we the audience are losers. This more than anything will slowly kill BW. But they are adapting, they can see the writing on the wall. BO is teaching them.

Agreed but not around all star kids. Bollywood is different beast that even Kamal could not crack. Right now, it is matter of money. Bollywood is biggest industry we have in India but the profit is all time low. Star kids get chances because parents do half the job and money is included. It also includes grooming, press, PR. Also there is family connection, friendship, debt. Every year more people pour into industry who can call in for help in launching their kids/siblings in future.

Beside no one knows who could hit jack pot. Acting is in gene too. Famous case is Fahadh Faasil, Aamir and Salman who were terrible in first few movies. Especially Salman. It took them few movies to get the strides. In all honesty, Bollywood prefers outsiders. But with not much moolah getting in, they are making do with what they can. And yet there is Jim Sarabh, Vicky Kaushal, Sid, SSR... 😊

Bollywood is cruel too. Case in point Esha (your shruthi), Imran khan, Emran hashmi. It is business after all. Just because Ranbir survived Bombay Velvet, not all will. Beside his talent, looks and loyal fandom, he is right "Kapoor", who have been considered as good luck charm and have been around since Bollywood came into existence. 😳

His acting is much better than Sara, Jhanvi, Ananya, Arjun and other star kids. His acting is even better than his wife Shilpa. Anyone agree...
