The bomb was concealed in a water delivery truck & was detonated at 8:22 am outside the offices of major local cellhphone company & a popular Tv station in Kabul Afghanistan's capital...

Resolute Support says attack demonstrates a complete disregard for civilians and reveals barbaric nature of the enemy.

NATO's Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan said in a statement on Wednesday that Afghan security forces had prevented the truck carrying explosives from entering the Green Zone early Wednesday.

"The vigilance and courage of Afghan security forces prevented the VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device) from gaining entry to the Green Zone, but the explosion caused civilian casualties in the vicinity, read their statement.

By early afternoon it was still not known what the target of the bombing was.

The truck bomb was detonated at 8:22am on Wednesday during rush hour traffic in the heart of Kabul. Immediately surrounding the blast site was the German embassy and Roshan telecommunications company.

By early afternoon the death toll was at 85 and about 400 wounded.

At least 50 cars were destroyed in the explosion which left a massive crater in the road at Zanbaq Square in Wazir Akbar Khan area.

Substantial damage was caused to the area, with home owners and shopkeepers affected up to one kilometer away.

Mostly all casualties were civilians.

According to RS: "The attack demonstrates a complete disregard for civilians and reveals the barbaric nature of the enemy faced by the Afghan people.

"It highlights the hypocrisy of the enemy who claim that they only target Afghan security forces and foreign forces, yet continue to cause death and suffering amongst innocent Afghans, the statement read.

RS said: "Attacks such as these only serve to strengthen our commitment to our Afghan partners as they seek a peaceful, stable future for their country.

The German Embassy in Kabul confirmed that a number of its staff members were injured in the bombing.

In a statement issued by the embassy, they said the attack was carried out in the immediate vicinity of the German Embassy.

"An Afghan security officer who was protecting the Embassy grounds was killed, read their statement.

"I condemn the attack in Kabul, in which dozens of people were injured and killed, in the strongest possible terms, said Sigmar Gabriel, Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He stated that the wounded embassy staff had been evacuated.

The truck bombing occurred on a busy road that passes the entrance to the Green Zone which houses a number of embassies including the German embassy, the British embassy, Canadian embassy and Resolute Support among many others.

The truck used to carry the explosives was believed to have been a tanker used to empty septic tanks at houses, businesses and embassies.

Afghan tv channels are saying almost 90 ppl are killed & almost 400 ppl are injured

please do pray for all the ppl of Kabul who are effected with this attack & have lost their lives or have lost their loved ones...My condolence to all those families who lost thier loved ones & who are effect with this Attack & my prayers to all those who are injured may allah bless them with speedy recovery & those who are in critical condition may all Allah safe their live & bless them with good health soon Ameen

i i don't know how can these terrorists fake themselves us Muslims where they are doing all those things which Islam ,Quran & Hadis doesn't allow

they are killing innocent Muslims & non Muslims & once again they killed many innocent ppl who were having fast in the holy month of Ramadan 😒

it's nothing like ppl don't want to pray were innocent ppl of Afghanistan who ae being kill

in the blasts in terrorists attacks us maybe ppl don't know much about the attack...

my hearts goes to all those who are are effect with this horrible attack & i feel their pain may Allah bless them & give Sabar to their families & those who are injured may Allah bless with good health Ameen

i saw all the update on tv tolo news

it was a very inhuman act...all those ppl were having roza & were resuming to their work the car bombing was so huge that it has made a huge 20 meter hole on that check post & has completely destroyed so many cars & has badly damaged the offices around there were kids ,women ,girls & boys who were attacked

i don't know how can these terrorist be so stone hearted who kill everyone Muslims & non Muslims ,innocent ppl...

Now they are saying 90 ppl were death & 464 ppl were injured :(

& so proud of all those hundreds of Afghans who donated Blood & were rushing to the hospital to donate blood & were helping the injured ppl to take them to hospitals without thinking about their own live bcoz the cars were still burning on streets & even one of the cars blast bcoz of the fire
