Lets just leave it at that and 'kiss and make up' ...lol šŸ˜‰

hahah when did we fight love to kiss and make upā˜ŗļø. i love talking to you and anisa as both of you are are super mature in your take on relationships and have probably born a lot more than what i have seen so far in my life šŸ˜‰, so always good to hear your side.

ur takes are eye opening in a lot of ways for me as i feel like i have been shielded a lot by my family from certain things - indian or western doesnt matter here

i just want to see a stronger anika because of my obvious bias towards her character and less crying scenes please though surbhi does cry extremely well. its to the point that even my bf has started noticing - he is mostly sitting next to me when i am watching the show and yesterday was like, u are watching the crying lady show again šŸ˜†

This is the SSO kiss and make up style - remember the 'Cannes in France' episode?? lol

lol ... a compliment from our 'Jhansi Ki Rani'?? wow!!! šŸ˜‰

That is a given Ruzz. The society here and the life here is very different. Even when I go back now and see stuff, I feel like I have lost my touch with reality because of where I live now. We take our freedoms and our life styles for granted here. 😊
Listening to friends and relatives talk and discuss makes me wonder what kind of 'time wrap' they are stuck in still??

I have a cousins daughter, an architect being forced to marry a young, very rich and khandani, handsome and well settled boy, no doubt, but against her happiness. Her own parents are very high achievers and holding high positions in their respective fields - well read, well spoken and well traveled and yet they cannot understand why she is saying 'no' and I do.
I cannot speak as my MIL does not want me to interfere. She told me if anything happens to break this alliance the blame will be put on me and she does not want that. (I told you she is a sweetheart and is ok with me being the way I am but does not want me to interfere with the fear that they will insult me)
It is not that she loves another or something. It is just that she is not ready for marriage that is all.
To top that her to be MIL is planning a wedding of HER dreams not my nieces, and she has no say in the matter at all. She was telling her Uncle (my husband) that she would be lucky to even pick her own gown ...lol Remind you of Pinky?? šŸ˜‰
Now tell me why an independent, working, career minded girl who has a bank balance of her own and does hang out with friends of her choice cannot speak her mind and have a choice of when she would like to marry. And no!!?? We are not Hindu as the stereotypical thoughts may make you believe ..lol I come from and am married to a Roman Catholic Family very western and broad minded in its thinking šŸ˜†
Do you understand now when I say independence and self respect has to do with you being able to make your choices not whether you work or not?

True. I too like seeing the strong one but the tears are never because she feels sorry for herself - they are most times tears of frustration. Like in the pool scene I am sure what she meant to tell Gauri was that if I had been given the understanding in my childhood by an elder as to when to hold my tongue and when to speak I probably would have made a better judgement call. Of course Harneet did not put it quite that way though but that is how I read it.

Mein ne zindagi sety jo bhi sekha hai - khud sekha hai... jo bhi jana hai - khud jana hai... essentially learnt from life by a trial and error method. I cannot even imagine how difficult that must have been for her.

its to the point that even my bf has started noticing - he is mostly sitting next to me when i am watching the show and yesterday was like, u are watching the crying lady show again šŸ˜†
lol ... Tell him that we tend to live in a bubble here in these countries and are able to judge things only from our perspective. The crying lady is a stark reality in some places and we want to see the 'crying lady pick herself up and fight back' but the society and its norms are very different in different parts of the world.

What you are doing Ruzz may sometimes sound and look crazy not only to you, but to others as well but deep down I think you know that this is very possibly the stark reality of life somewhere in the world.
Actually I admire that you are taking the effort to try and understand another POV and another kind of world. It makes us more appreciative of ours 😊

Hi,
Great post and better conversation.
Pretty silent reader here. I've been following this thread with a great deal of interest. I am sincerely enjoying the analysis of Aninika's character since I haven't watched IB from episode 1 and am not really aware of who she was before marriage. My views on how her character has or hasn't developed/ devolved are of no real importance, since I am working without a frame work.
I have a question about Shivay though... he seems like a pretty sharp guy and has even said that he goes over things several times before making a decision or move. That being the case why is he not seeing Pinky for who she is? I am not saying whether that being is good or bad (more of just whole). He even said that he thought Pinky wanted to have the puja to "humiliate" Annika. So he knows that she is not above hurting Annika. All the small humiliations and attacks seem to be okay, but that she would go all out and invite NT and the media in to play a nasty game seems to be completely out of the realm of reality for her and I guess I'm just not seeing why.
Shivay was the one who said it had to be someone in the house, by the process of elimination that only leaves him with one person as the culprit. Maybe I just coming at this from the wrong angle so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any input,
Germain

Hi,
Great post and better conversation. ty and welcome to the discussion. 😊

True. By his own admittance, his is a character who will ponder over, mull over and deliberate any action from his part. That can be a positive or a negative trait depending upon the situation.

That being the case why is he not seeing Pinky for who she is?
True again that he is sharp but I have noticed, from his past history, that he is also very trusting once his trust is earned. It is the 'blind' kind of trust which again can be misused as was done by Tia. Imagine if he had that kind of trust in Tia how much more will be have in his own mother who, from birth, has never stooped to such a level of deceit and trickery.

I am not saying whether that being is good or bad (more of just whole). He even said that he thought Pinky wanted to have the puja to "humiliate" Annika.
Shivvay, you have to understand, has never been proud of anything Pinky has ever done. Not like Om is of his mother. He has always had to cover up and make up for her short comings and her lack of tact. She is, basically, more often the cause of his humiliation than pride.

So Shivvay is used to his mother being loud, crass, insulting, petty and the jealous kind. She throws tantrums like a child, asks for the moon and is demanding and selfish like one as well.
He is more the Father with her, humoring and pacifying her with expensive toys that she has set her heart on (like Tia), than she is his mother. He is used to Pinky not looking beyond her happiness and wants. It is why he picked her 'Kangan' not Annika's brace;et during the game.
I think she wants to be a good mother like Jhanvi but goes about it the wrong way.

So he knows that she is not above hurting Annika.
That is where you are wrong. That is what he was saying to Annika.
'this is my mother Annika!!! you do not say such things about mother !!! It is just not done!!'
He was shocked and dismayed that she could even think such a thing about his mother - let alone say she had proof. His mother was his pride and who he identified himself with. How could his pride go before a fall??
It was like NT saying Annika was trying to separate him from his mother!! Annika is his pride 'Post Marriage' because of his unshakeable faith and trust in her. He has grown to understand, know and rely on this unchangeable Annika with all her flaws. He is not blind to her flaws - he just knows that they will never go beyond a certain limit, that is all.

Same way ,he knows his mother is capable of verbally attacking Annika and insulting her (that if Annika had said he probably would have believed) but to physically harm someone he is certain she would not do. His faith in who he knows his mother to be is that strong that even with clues staring him in the face he refuses to accept that fact.
And this IS a man who basis his whole reasoning on facts and logic - mind you

All the small humiliations and attacks seem to be okay, but that she would go all out and invite NT and the media in to play a nasty game seems to be completely out of the realm of reality for her and I guess I'm just not seeing why.
Annika is not the first person that Pinky has behaved this way with, humiliating and insulting them while making it sound like 'Her Shivvay' is much too good for any of them. She has done it with Jhanvi, Om and Rudy as well. They have all been the brunt of her poison.
But never, never ever, has she felt the need to cross that fine like between human and monster with them. So Shivvay essentially knows how bad, proud and judgemental his mother is but he also knows that she will not cross a certain line because she never has in the past.

Shivay was the one who said it had to be someone in the house, by the process of elimination that only leaves him with one person as the culprit. Maybe I just coming at this from the wrong angle so any help would be greatly appreciated.
.. and he did also say it could be a staff member, a person with free access to the house or any such person. He did not say Family member - he said someone in the house.

Thanks for any input, you are welcome and again this is just MY take on it. 😊
