Chapter 3

It's been 3 days since she was gone. Omkaara was trying to trace her but she was nowhere to be found. He couldn't answer the questions of his family members. His brothers were constantly nagging him about what had happened between him and Gauri. No one knew it was a contract marriage for getting rid of Svetlana. He had to finally tell his brothers the ultimate truth about their entire story. He said the entire story but he stopped short of what he did to her last night. He just told the accusation that he threw on her because he believed what he perceived about her was true. Shivaay suggested they seek help of police but Omkaara stopped him. He didn't want papparazi and he didn't wanted to bring humiliation for her infront of public. Even though he was one who accused her characterless, his heart wasn't accepting it. He did the mistake and he is responsible of searching her. They decided to go for a private detective to search Gauri. Shivaay meanwhile spoke to private detective and asked him not only to search her whereabouts but her entire background information. He wanted to get it cleared. He believed in Gauri, but the situations that Omkaara saw her were totally against her. Shivaay wanted to find out if she was victimized by anyone.

Meanwhile Omkaara was trying to digest the situation. Entire flashback scenes of the situations in which they met ran in his mind.. Their very first meeting.. When she accidentally fell in his hands.. Even thought he was having overwhelming frustration and anger on her, her very dark kohl eyes attracted the artist in him.. their marriage, chulbul and again at Kaali taakur's haveli where she was roaming as the takuraien of the Haveli. His heart did prick for a second when Kaali said am going to marry your wife. He remembered the various instances she tried to prove that he had seen only what he has chosen to see, and that it's not the truth. Omkaara didn't believe in her but her eyes compelled him to. He always saw the honesty in her eyes and he used to wonder how she can fake that also. She was always a contradiction between truth and lie. When he thought she was a homebreaker, she surprised him as chulbul, when he brought her again in the pretext of contract marriage, she behaved as a perfect wife. He was confused to extremes. Afterall, what is Gauri all about? Is she a gold digger or a circumstantial victim. He remembered the night he kissed her. Even though he brought her in the pretext of contract marriage, and had spurred hatred and venom on her from day 1, she took it all silently and in stride. She did give back to him in private. He was the one who crossed the line. He didn't know what was happening to him. She was present in his room previously also as chulbul. Nothing affected him this much before but when she was in her own self, as his own wife his heart just couldn't be controlled. Day in and day out, he was getting affected more at her serenic beauty. Sometimes, he kept on staring at her for minutes without her knowing. He remembered how he was ogling at her in the mirror the other day when she came out of shower. He was completely mesmerized at the moment and his mind clouded. Somewhere the contract marriage was seeming to be real and the lines between real and fake was blurring for him. At some point it was even tough for him to put up a fake or a hatred face, when she came near him for some reason. And their final conversation after the kiss.. Omkaara shook his head.. What the hell had happened to me..?

Private detective took a week to collect her entire background information and came to meet Omkaara.

D: Sir, the reports about Gauri Kumari Sharma is ready. Please have a look, Sir.

O: Were you able to find her..?

D: No sir, she was last seen in the bus station in Bareilly. She had taken tickets to a district in UP but the bus agency says the person didn't travel and that they cancelled the tickets and gave it to someone at the last minute. CCTV footage also was not found.

Omkaara was disappointed to the core. Where the hell has she gone? Is she in some danger?

D: Sir, shivaay sir had requested Gauri madam's background information also for past 6 months. Those reports are also present.

O: Background information reports..?

D: Yes sir, seems like their shop in Bareilly has been destroyed on a land deal and she was living in the custody of her uncle and aunt, who tried to sell her to a goonda named Kaali. She was confined with chains and was forced to marry. But she escaped from the marriage and married..

Omkaara looked at him..

D: She married you, Sir.. Detective was feeling little hesitant.. He went on.. "A lot of people in Bareilly testified your marriage with her. She went to Mumbai then for work, to pay her mother's hospital charges but a month later she returned back with Kaali taakur. Kaali had held your grandmother as captive and threatened her sir. The hospital in which grandmother was admitted had cctv footage.

Omkaara was looking in shocked dismay.. What the hell he has done?

"She was to marry kaali again, but she stabbed him and escaped. Kaali is still alive but in a injured condition sir.. He is recovering."

Omkaara was staring in disbelief and dismay at the turn of events. She was damn right all the way. He has been a loser all the time not to have believed in her. It is too late now. She was the one who held ideals of this marriage from the very beginning sincerely. Whenever given a chance, she used to refer him as her "Pati" even though it was a contract marriage. Omkaara would stare at her outside but he would also feel a little happy when she said that looking at him with her deep kohl eyes. She herself returned the mangalsutra to him saying that this marriage is now over. She must have fully given up on him. After all there is a limit to anyone's patience. He has tested her patience way too much with all his crappy talk.. He has to find her. He didn't want to inform police as this would become a paparazzi and family reputation would be under stake. He thought he will keep searching for her until he finds her.

Shivaay came to his room. Omkaara was sitting in a shocked state clutching the reports in his hand. He couldn't believe his Gauri is gone because of his own foolishness.

S: Om, gauri ki baare mein pata chala..

Omkaara was too shocked to react..

O: Haan..

S: I spoke to the detective just now.. he said everything. Shayaad tumhe uski baare mein galat femi hogayi.. I think its all clear now..

O: Galat femi, Shivaay! You know, I am a fool.. am a stupid, damn fool.. He broke down.

S: Om please control yourself.. Galat femi kisiko bhi hosakthi hai.. This is not your fault. Circumstances aise hi the.. Even mujhe aur anika ke beech mein hua tha.. daksh ki baare mein.. But it's all due to circumstance. Don't feel broken down.

O: Usne pata nahi kya kya kiya hai shivaay mere liye humhaari family ke liye.. Main na bilkul judgemental hoke, uski saare sachayi pe nazar andaaz kar diya.. Pata hai, the amount of hatred that I threw on her.. any girl would have broken down. Par Gauri sab silently sehti rahi.. aur main apna gadhapan realize hi nahi kiya.. Kitne baar wo explain karne ki koshish kar rahi pata hai.. par I wasn't even listening..

S: Om tu control kar apne aap ko.. We will definitely find her and bring her back..

O: Nahi shivaay, even if we find her, I doubt whether she will come back.

S: Om, hua kya hai.. can you please tell me?

Omkaara felt awkward and embarrassed to tell it but he told shivaay anyway. He wanted to seek comfort in someone. No one is the better choice than his brother.

S: Agar main tumse ek personal sawaal poochoon kya jawab dega?

O: haan poocho..

Shivaay started off hesitantly.. "Did you kiss her out of plain physical impulsion or do you feel something for her?"

Omkaara looked at shivaay. This is the question he has been trying to dodge within himself for so many days now. May be he shouldn't do it anymore. Shivaay asked it straight.

"It's not just physical.."

Shivaay gave a understanding nod..
