She apparently demanded to be cowriter and codirector and when Ketan said no she ditched him and stole his story.
I can't post whole article but here is excerpt :
We know that Kangana is next going to shoot for a movie titled Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi. We also know that Ketan Mehta had announced a project much similar to this one, way back in June 2015, and Kangana was on board for it. Over the course of one and a half years, Ketan had shared multiple drafts of the script and all the research material on the subject collected over years with her. Reportedly, he had also brought in an international co-producer on board for the project. After two years worth of discussions the filmmaker and actress parted their ways on the project. It was reported by DNA that Kangana not only wanted to write the script with Ketan but was also interested in co-directing it. After parting ways, Kangana announced Manikarnika as her next project with producer Kamal Jain, writer K Vijayendra Prasad and director Krish on board.
Ketan only came to know of the new project on the same lines as his film, with a new director and new producer, through the media. "Kangana being privy to all the documents and research material along with the script shared with her, has knowingly committed the act of trying to hijack the project in collusion with Producer Kamal Jain & others," read a press release issued by Ketan Mehta.
A source close to Ketan Mehta has been quoted in a press release saying, "This is a brazen act of hijacking a film project. This subject has been Ketan s labour of love for over ten years & he believes that Rani of Jhansi is a great subject which can travel across the world. I know he has worked very hard to develop the entire project and has invested lots of time, energy and money in it. The act is a criminal breach of trust and a completely unethical attempt at stealing someone s fully developed film project.
