As always, she seems to twist facts as per her advantage. Digital is a huge medium for making money - beautiful destinations - excuse me made multi millionaires in 5 years with digital content! I can give a lot of examples like that but on my phone so can't type much

Watch sarabhai producers interview or ekta's - 80 million Indians living in india are watching digital
content and this is not counting diaspora like us - digital translates to money woman, under which rock are u living

SO yes barc might be more important don't deny but her totally disregarding the audience that is responsible for her fame is typical gul - arrogant and misinformed. Also this is the easiest way for her to cover up the lack of storyline- oh we are doing it for BARC, so story who cares. Doesn't she always start with a bang, has a good cast and then boom it goes down

i understand your POV, but neither of us even live in India, so yep our POV may be different from her
problem digital is still something of a 'future' thing in India, and they still depend on Barc, at least SP does

That is one of the most honest interviews i've ever read

I can not believe that the ib we (specifically me) conplain about loosing was going to be shutdown 😲
The shock of my life

Now i don't blame them for anything, not the crappy plots nor splitting the shoe into 2

It's their job...they would have lost it if they did what ever we want

But they can make sure that the trp audiance is really an audience right??

I mean how come i read everywhere how much people think that naagin is a just too silly to be number 1 on trps while it always is?????

I don't know how it works but it's getting on mu nerves
Can we have a chat room similar to that of ib villains

We can think of a way to ruin the entire sloppy system

I just read the interview.. and definitely it was truly honest. She's totally right, people are bored of the same old stuff they want freshness but not too much. It makes it so difficult for the makers. I might be biased, but IB brought in a new sense of freshness but what's sad is that TRP aunties want to see the same old rona dhona.
i wish people would learn to accept these new stories like IB and move away from the 'typical saas-bahu' dramas.

But still, Internet penetration in India is still an ongoing project and much more needs to be done...esp. Internet speeds are nothing to write home about. It is work in progress. So for now, Barc/conventional TV viewership takes precedence over digital.

amru 🤗, i agree with your comment on internet penetration but my issue is with the way she just brushed it under the carpet! she clearly know her shows lack storyline after a while, people like us who are attracted to the couple's chemistry watch it! digital is not imp - ok gul then why does star have hotstar - what charity are they doing by uploading their own shows at 6pm ist a few hours before the telecast?????😕 clearly they are making money out of it, from premium memberships, advertisements and what not - she needs to stop covering her shoddy writing with trp excuse is my point

also who is she making the content for? there is a clear divide in indian audience - educated urban population likes something whereas rural population which is more of a contributor to trp likes something totally different. so does she even know who she is targeting - confused soul much! in all honesty, no one i know - whether my family or friends who live in india watch any indian shows - regressive and OTT and honestly seen as below their standards by my cousins - a very punjabi thing to do to be pretentious like that😉 (if i tell them ever i sit and watch this show, they will mock me for life 😆 - only my second indian show and probably last one too, so i get it the urban audiences is more into american shows -at least thats all my family watches)

1) she clearly doesnt know who she is targeting
2) her characters keep doing flip flop - case in point anika acting like a complete jerk in today's epi at the drop of a hat
3) her writers keep fighting people who give any iota of criticism on Internet and digital audience is not imp
4) her actors keep uploading stuff on internet like there is no tomorrow - i am sure no one in the villages sit and read or watch those! so in my opinion a lot of her points are mute and just a cover up

watch ekta's interview with rajeev masand! she clearly explains why nagin works, how it is ott and she knows it but there are people watching it so she makes it. she herself will never watch a show like that😆 and everyone from a driver to a businessman is her audience. she makes sense, and is a smart business woman + doesnt hide behind a lie to cover her weaknesses. on the other hand, all i have seen gul do is give an excuse after another in her interviews, kick people out unceremoniously, do grand entries for un-required characters when she couldn't even handle the original cast properly! in my opinion, she just wants to make money and lacks passion to actually do the work and that shows in her work itself- especially the way she treats her actors. she wants to do it but doesn't make the effort and then gives random nonsense as an explanation in her interviews 😆 - she really defines what living in your own bubble is to me!

also heard that they had money issues, all i have to say is i am not surprised! half baked attempts only take u so far no matter what ur profession is!

pheww this was long but i have issues with people who are unprofessional - imagine if people were just told out of the blue by the way today is your last day at work - tata tata bye bye - imagine the number of law suits that will crop up! u cant treat ur employees like shit and cover it up - thats all

As harsh as it is to accept, people in INDIA don't want to PAY for viewing content, hence there is very little MONEY in the DIGITAL format. And let's remember, she is int he business to make money...its not a non-profit organization...right. Our heart strings are tied to the shows...but that's their bread and butter.
