Maya has always been like this only. If you watch carefully u will notice that it's the magic of writer that he revealed maya s character slowly and steadily with a lot of suspense and thrill.
Innitially her victim side was exposed for us to like her. Then they slowly started revealing her manipulative side then her psycho side. The two people who knew maya s real side were shown in negative light so nobody would believe them.

Isn't she a villain already?
Her kartoots are clearly indicating she's a vamp.

Nobody is pure soul in this show and Maya's at least does not show off hypocrisy like the Satyvadi Saanjh

Vamp?? Entire Story never revolves around Vamp or around the character who is better known as Vamp...Here the entire story is all about Maya so she can't be termed Vamp...she can be termed Protagonist and Antagonist both...The word Vamp is too conventional to be used for Maya..

But no one claime saanjh is the lead or not villian. She doesn't get space in montage as well. It's all about MahaMaya.

This show is not about everybody. It's about MahaMaya. It doesn't matter nobody or everybody are pious or not, it's not about them, MahaMaya the lead acting like a vamp is the point here.

I guess protagonist and Antagonist could be the right term, but her all antics look like she's a vamp. As someone said in another thread that even a vamp can have her own autobiography. So this is like biography of a vamp.

Maya took advantage of the situation - Possible
Maya staged or plotted the whole scenario of attempt to rape - Not Possible
The sequence of scenes or the whole scenario was exactly same as we viewers saw - Most Possible
The sequence of scenes or the whole scenario was slightly different than we viewers saw - Possible
We viewers didn't get to hear a few dialogues - Possible
The mark on Maya's neck was Maya or Ayaan's nail mark and not teeth mark - Possible
Maya was actually the victim and Ayaan attempted to rape her
- Possible
Ayaan didn't consider Maya's pleas he was too engrossed in taking the keys or better say in punishing girl-like-Maya in his terms so according to his perception he didn't do anything wrong - Quite Possible

All the possibilities don't make Maya villain and Ayaan innocent...

Tell me one thing tearing someone's clothes from shoulders wrists and thighs and biting on neck, that's not sexual assault? What if Samay wouldn't have stopped him and Ayan could have just continued. There's a difference between physical and sexual assault and Ayan was doing the latter. So if he can get till extent ilooked attempt to rape of course not rape. Yeah she has not cleared Arjun that it was an attempt and not rape. I'm not really a die-hard fan of any character. I hated it when Maya tied Arjun and another time forced him to open shirt or she would cut it with scissors. I hated it when Arjun said all that bakwas sautela dialogue but felt bad when Maya abducted him. It's just all these characters just cross their limits and so did Ayan.

Of course none of the characters in this show is our family or friends or neighbors for us to support or be against them blindly. 😆 For me, i have a certain understanding about the characters of the show based on the characterization and the plot and my opinions are based on that. So I am going to answer your questions based on the characterization, the plot, execution of the scenes, actors expressions etc .
Maya's characterization is that she can go to any extend to get what she wants. The Maya-Ayan rape fiasco is the writers attempt to show us to what extend can Maya go for something she wants, ie Arjun.

Let us look at the big picture which sets the stage for the scene in question. Maya wants sole possession of Arjun, wants him away from all his relations and she has succeeded that for 3 years. She realizes in the flight to London that Arjun is with his family, she realizes his family has come between her and Arjun. Remember the gold fish scene, anybody who comes between me and Arjun I will make them suffer like the gold fishes which is shown struggling for life. Maya has to crush the people who came in between and get Arjun back, get him separated from his family. So Maya strikes, stages the getting hurt Drama, get Arjun away. From the ambulance Maya sees Ayan following them, maya is smart as hell. She realizes Arjun has told Ayan everything which is why Ayan is coming to get his brother. Maya gets home, ties Arjun up , locks Jhanvi up...one would wonder why?

Ayan walks in, looks for Arjun. Find him locked, asks maya for keys. Maya says she won't give the keys. We are initially shown the keys on the corner table, then we see Ayan pushing maya to the table, at which point the key is missing. But we are not shown what happened to the keys. We see maya putting her hands across her chest, we hear Ayan saying you think that will prevent me from getting your keys? (Something like that). And yeah Ayan gives a creepy look to Maya's chest area. Is that look tied to the key dialogue intended for the keys or looking at her body ? Now They start the physical struggle, Maya's clothes get torn in the struggle. If you watch the scenes carefully you don't see him tearing the clothes to look at her, but it gets torn every time she tries to move away and he tries to pull her back. From Ayan's perspective it could be a physical fight to get the keys and he is not even thinking his hassle is with a woman . Yeah he mouths some dialogues which could easily be taken for rape. They don't show their full struggle to us, but shows Ayan on top of her. We do not know how they ended up in that position bcos it was not shown. I read lot of posts in the forum about a bite, but I did not see one. Maya shows a mark on her neck to Arjun. Once again there is no indication there was a bite. Any way we see Samay pulling Ayan up and Ayan says leave me you don't know what she did to my bhai. Once again he shows no signs of shame to be caught dong a shameful act . Then maya utters the word rape and there is this shocking expression on Ayan's face, like the thought never crossed his mind. We are not shown everything during that struggle, we heard Ayan's dialogues, we see Maya's expressions. Is her expressions intended for the CCTV cameras or where they genuine? Did Ayan's dialogue meant rape or that he will destroy her life taking Arjun away that he will tell the world what she really is?.

There are a lot of questions. I don't think we can say for sure who is right and who is wrong right now. The writers left it quite ambiguous for us. At some point they will tell us what happened maybe not at the end of court trial but towards the end along with all the other mysteries and deaths that need to resolved.

All of us are so into the maya-Ayan scene but we are missing the big picture and the plot of the show. We are forgetting the characterization of Ayan and Maya.

.if Ayan did attack her with sexual intent he should get punished for that but if not he should not be punished for sexual assault but for physical assault. That is why I said let the story play out.
