Why did Maya tie up Arjun?

There are two reasons that come to mind. One is obvious. She doesn't want him to leave her as she's taken too much pains to retrieve the bhola Arjun from the clutches of his manipulative family😉. The second one is dodgy. If she really wanted the showdown with Ayaan to happen, Arjun shouldn't be in his senses for it to prevent whatever that was going to unfold. But there's a huge glitch. If Maya anticipated Ayaan to physically assault her and turn it against him as an attempt to rape her, how will restraining Arjun help her when he'd be required to testify against Ayaan? If Maya had really planned it all along, shouldn't she have sent Arjun to some place else and confronted Ayaan alone? He would have still tried to get physical with her as the memories of his brother's woe-is-me tales are still afresh in his mind.

Today's episode honestly i didn't find it planned.I mean I'm sure she expected Ayan to come,but whatever happened after that was totally unexpected for her.I really hope CVs handle this topic sensitively as this is the problem our nation is fighting against.I don't want CVs to loosely handle such a delicate subject,i want them to handle it responsibly

They're borrowing so much from Gone Girl so I'd not be surprised if Maya indeed planned to set Ayaan up. BUT the biggest loophole is restraining Arjun like that. It could totally go against her in a court of law, which is why I feel Maya wouldn't be that dumb to ignore such a gaping hole in the plan which can backfire on her if at all it's a plan hatched by her to falsely implicate Ayaan.

Second one, is my guess. She wanted the physical confrontation to happen, probably didn't anticipate it will go out of hand since she did not know Ayaan was drunk, provoked enough to molest her. Arjun is not required to testify anything. Circumstantial evidences ( ransacked house), CCTV footage ( Ayaan threatening and then manhandling her), Samay's statement ( not sure of this one ) and Maya's testimony will be enough to file charges and she has good legal connections to take him down if she wants . Its an attempt to rape case so no medical examination required. I think she played safe but had to endure more than she wanted..

If she tied him up bcos she didnt want him to leave, why did she untie him in the morn (assuming she did untie him in the morn). Me thinks she tied him up so she wanted him away not to see what was going on. About testifying, I don't think he will testify against Ayan or Maya. Explanation would be that he was drunk and passed out. Arjun never shows maya in bad light in public except where he opened up with Ayan so he won't tell the world he was tied up. I am not sure how Sanj will find the truth but like Aikiel said Sanj can bring some points out by her investigation(hopefully) like why was she up and about from a critical condition like the cop said through loudspeaker. Why was Arjun in stretcher (hopefully cameras caught it). At this point Arjun is believing the rape allegation it looks like. But hopefully Sanj will find enough evidence to prove otherwise. I strongly think she hid the keys in her dress. I need to watch the section lumos mentioned where the keys disappeared from the table right before she puts her arms across her chest and he started looking at her dress. Now why did he mouth those vulgar dialogues I think CV's wanted us to have the mystery of who is lying. At this point I think it was staged. He physically assualted her no doubt about that. But sexual assault I am going to say no till it is proven.

tie up = to make him not able to run away or not be able to save her but in other words , this was planned ,, maya jaal or whatever ayan fell into it.

But I was very moved by Jen's acting in that scene.. seeing from Arjun's point of view, even he looked sorry for her.. Jen's acting like always is beyond expectations. They did not show him explicitly hiding the keys. It is an assumption or opinion which may or may not be right. Someone mentioned that the keys were on the table before the arms across chest scene and in that scene the key was missing. The reason why I felt the keys was what Ayan was after is bcos of the shock in his face when he heard the word rape. Looked like sex, rape, sexual thoughts was the last thing in his mind. The only thing (I think) that was on his mind was freeing his brother. The tearing of clothes I think was not intentional. While watching the scenes this is what I felt. I could very well be wrong.

If he indeed was having dirty thoughts then I don't even know what to say about Ayan. Already disgusted by the physical abuse but if he was sexually assualted his brothers wife then he is just...dunno what to say. I seriously doubt Ayan is capable of that based on his characterization.

@bladdict - He was looking for the keys.. ( again watched that bit ). Maya did not hide it under her dress ( so she wasn't inviting sexual assault ). She was holding the key in her hand, clenched fist to be precise. When Ayaan pins her down, she throws it away. watch it again. Ayaan could have left her then and there and gone for the keys assuming he heard the sound of keys falling on the floor even if he missed seeing her throw it.. But I don't know what Ayaan was upto when he was kissing/feeling the side of her neck after she threw the key. Not looking for keys for sure.. Clothes ripping could be totally unintentional even though it happen thrice.. he didn't look apologetic or shocked at any point.. and seriously what was that about- nazar uthane layak nahi rahegi? he said that even before he knew she had the keys.. I guess that was thrown in by the writers to give the sexual assault angle and give Maya ammunition against Ayaan..she told that to Arjun too..
