I'm wondering what if Arjun had the abusive past, the mental illness and is trying to control Maya whilst portraying the image of best husband to the world? And what if Maya is the one isolated from her loved ones and is so done with this marriage that she would hurt herself to get out of it? Would we expect Maya to stay put, just give some more love and if you truly love him, try and cure him. I wouldn't expect it of Maya and the same way I don't expect it of Arjun either.

Dealing with a mental illness isn't that easy. It's not as simple as give some love and be understanding, then things will work out. I can get where Arjun is coming from because he didn't choose this. One can maybe expect Arjun to take some initiative to treat Maya if he fully knew about Maya's condition from the beginning and if has the upper-hand in the situation. But Maya's issues weren't something that was told to him or explained to him but unleashed onto him in an unexpected way, affecting his life. That's too much for any normal person to handle.

IMO, Arjun has his faults and he did make his mistakes in the marriage but not being able to handle Maya's illness or wanting an out in this marriage are not his faults.

First of all, it is the woman who stays at her husband's place after marriage. So it would be Maya who would be staying with her husband. A woman would not go for an immediate divorce. She would try to mend her husband especially if he is mentally ill. Whether Arjun agrees or not, Maya would go to the doctor and tell his problems and get the medicines for him. She would add medicines in such a way that Arjun would not even be able to make out. If there are cctv cameras, she would use her neighbor's stove and add that tablet into the milk and make him drink. When Arjun drinks it, he would feel the changes within him. There are many ways to deal with the situations. I don't know how much Arjun has used his brains.

Arjun doesn't have one ! That's the problem he's duffer & has got all kinds selfishness & greedy nature in him . What can u expect from that idiot !
And if someone really loves one they won't see for escaping but being there for them as support and solve the situation together.
But that simple thing saanjh fans can't get & support blindly to that home wreckor.

Most probably woman who feel suffocated in being isolated or caged won't cause any physical pain to her husband with mental illness.Toxic relationships are toxic no matter any of the partner is mentally stable or unstable. Its not easy to cure a person with mental illness but abandoning them isn't also the solution of the problem. Relationships comes with responsibilities as u can't leave ur husband or wife with contagious disease similarly u can't leave ur life partner with mental illness if Maya wasn't having any mental illness and still be the killer or had emotionally exhausted Arjun than I might have said Arjun should leave Maya. (my POV)</font>[/DIV]

I agree that plain abandoning does seem cruel. But there are a few points to be noted here. Firstly, I doubt Arjun has a clear understanding that Maya is suffering from mental issues or what those issues are. A lot of this may be due to lack of understanding of how mental illnesses tend to be. Secondly, like I mentioned in my previous post, Arjun wasn't aware of her illness when he got into this marriage. Mind you, a lot of Maya's manipulations started way before he came to know about anything. Basically, he was thrown into this whole thing completely unaware, unlike us viewers who got to see Maya's vulnerable and toxic side closely. A person can deal with something only if they know what it is and how to deal with it. Thirdly, Arjun isn't even in charge of the situation. It's Maya who has an eye on him and she even seems to be able to predict Arjun's reactions very well. In order to deal with Maya, Arjun needs to be in a position to be able to control Maya, get her to the psychiatrist, make her get the treatment, etc.

The way I see things is that Maya is actually a person drowning into an ocean; who needs a helping hand. And Arjun comes along the way, holds her hand without knowing that she is a drowning person and gets himself drowned. And now he is desperately trying his best to get out of the water but Maya is not leaving his hand and pulling him further down. In such a state, a person is in no condition to be of help to the other. If we see Arjun in the recent episodes, he isn't in any emotional or mental state to take a calm or composed decision. He is in fact too busy fighting a battle. What Maya needs is a neutral third-party who can see that she is a drowning person and who knows how to rescue her out of the water.

So while I agree that abandoning a spouse in time of illness is harsh but it's better to do so if the illness can become harmful to you physically or emotionally. Maybe Arjun would be of better help to Maya if he is free from this relationship; he would then be free from his own emotional turmoil; he would be able reason out things rationally and he may be able to take his family's help as well.

I would take the partner to psychologist , n if it doesn't work, will go for divorce, but would never do physical abuse on him. N in case of maya n arjun, if Maya is mentally disturbed , n if Arjun's love is soo deep n true he would have taken her to psychiatrist , but here he is physically abusing her, he is literally beating her, he can simply divorce her, tell in front of the world the truth n leave her , y physical abuse, it's just doesn't justifyed Arjuna behaviour

Good question. It got me to thinking 😆
I guess it depends on how invested I am in the relationship how deep I feel for him. If I truly love and care for him, I will take him to psychiatrist and will do everything in my power to support him to his cure.

If I am not that vested, like let us say it was the beginning of an arranged marriage or beginning of a relationship and I don't care as much, I am not going to take the pain or responsibility and I guess I will walk out and hope and maybe even recommend that his folks will get him his medical help.

I know some women do stay put in toxic relationships due to social conditioning but that cannot be considered right.

@bold: Whether it is the man or the woman, it isn't their duty to try to mend their spouse. Because while the trying can be done, the mending won't happen. Some things are beyond the scope of a normal person to accomplish, so expecting them to do so would be unfair to them.

Treating mental illnesses isn't as simple as mixing a tablet into milk. Firstly, the doctor needs to make a diagnosis, which would require testing the patient in person and this would require Maya's cooperation.

We don't know what happened in these 3 years; we don't even know whether Arjun has understood Maya's problem or if he knows how to deal with it. Plus, there is a difference between coming to know that Maya has a problem vs actually experiencing it first-hand in the form of having one's life turned topsy-turvy. In the latter scenario, it is very likely that the person involved isn't in a condition to calmly analyse the situation and take the right decisions.

I dislike people who like playing mind games and are manipulative and control freak...so nope don't want to deal anyone with personality like that of Maya 😉

At the same time I have an instant dislike for selfish souls who are living only for themselves ...so people like Arjun is out of question too 😳

I would like to believe that Arjun must have tried to discern the real Maya post the complete estrangement from his family in the confines of Maya's house. Any normal human would try and understand the root-cause of abnormal behavior. Arjun maybe selfish, but he is not a manipulator and a game player like Maya. He doesn't consciously do things that are unconscionable or morally wrong.
I want to know why he's sticking with her even after all this. Is it just to move forward the story line or does Maya have some kind of leverage over Arjun and he's Zugzwanged in her web of lies and manipulations!

I also have begun to sympathize with Maya too. So much talent, so willfully wasted on a guy like Arjun. I've never liked Arjun but nobody deserves the fate meted out to him at the hands of a deranged partner with trust issues. I'd have called 911 and run away from there.
