And still if it doesn't get cured and I'm unable to live with him, l'll apply for a divorce citing incurable mental illness. There is no point in taking revenge or manhandling like what Arjun is doing

Yes there is no point in what arjun is doing.
What arjun is doing speaks his levels of frustration.

I'm wondering what if Arjun had the abusive past, the mental illness and is trying to control Maya whilst portraying the image of best husband to the world? And what if Maya is the one isolated from her loved ones and is so done with this marriage that she would hurt herself to get out of it? Would we expect Maya to stay put, just give some more love and if you truly love him, try and cure him. I wouldn't expect it of Maya and the same way I don't expect it of Arjun either.

Dealing with a mental illness isn't that easy. It's not as simple as give some love and be understanding, then things will work out. I can get where Arjun is coming from because he didn't choose this. One can maybe expect Arjun to take some initiative to treat Maya if he fully knew about Maya's condition from the beginning and if has the upper-hand in the situation. But Maya's issues weren't something that was told to him or explained to him but unleashed onto him in an unexpected way, affecting his life. That's too much for any normal person to handle.

IMO, Arjun has his faults and he did make his mistakes in the marriage but not being able to handle Maya's illness or wanting an out in this marriage are not his faults.

Also, I wouldn't keep being touchy-feely with someone else in front of her. Try my best to deal with her insecurities. Make her understand that she can't control everything. Keep an eye on her, so that she doesn't hurt herself or others.

I would try to be the best friend that I could. I would try to calm her. Honor some of her demands...but if she is being too unreasonable, I would firmly tell her to be reasonable or else she would lose me. SPEND TIME WITH HER, without talking about Dusky. Keep her away from people who do not approve of her.

I would divide my life so that one side is reserved for Maya and other side for the rest of the world. Keep the two sides away from as much as I could. I wouldn't be oblivious to what is going around me. And of course, take her to a psychiatrist...but wouldn't make her visit alone. I wouldn't manhandle her. If I am very pissed, I would shout at her but wouldn't push her around.

Basically, if I really TRULY love someone, I would try my best to make it work. If I love someone, I want to know each and everything about that person. Instead for wasting my time on cheesy romance, I would try to find out the core of that person. What he likes and what ticks him off. Not just see the things I want to see and ignore the rest of that person. I would see their flaws. If I love someone, I would build my life around them.

But all this is really dependent on how much I love the person and if in our relationship, we are on equal ground. Not in terms of financial positions, but in terms of commitment and feelings. Our love for each other should be equal. Or else, no point trying.

The problem with Maya is that she loves Arjun too much but Arjun doesn't love her. To make her relationship a success, they have to love equally. If she is crazy for Arjun, Arjun should be just as crazy about her. Maya's love is intense...Arjun's "love" however long it lasted was lukewarm. Maya needs someone who can love just as intensely as she can.

Bottom line is : If I love someone, I would fight for them. Help them be a better person.

@bold: This line reminds me of the movie hum tumhare hain sanam starring SRK and Madhuri. When Madhuri was always talking about her best male friend i.e. Salman Khan, SRK used to get irritated and insecure.😆

Exactly! 😆

I saw Maya fans themselves stating that they want Maya to leave Arjun coz he's being abusive!
Nobody wants her to be more and more patient with him.

Mental torture is worse than physical torture. Maya is doing worse to Arjun than what Arjun is doing to her.

Has it been proved that she is the one? You don't have any right to accuse a person without any evidence.

A woman can handle a person with abusive past, there are men who are control freak but they are unbearable to be very truthful but than women aren't physically as strong as men. Most probably woman who feel suffocated in being isolated or caged won't cause any physical pain to her husband with mental illness. Toxic relationships are toxic no matter any of the partner is mentally stable or unstable. Its not easy to cure a person with mental illness but abandoning them isn't also the solution of the problem. Relationships comes with responsibilities as u can't leave ur husband or wife with contagious disease similarly u can't leave ur life partner with mental illness if Maya wasn't having any mental illness and still be the killer or had emotionally exhausted Arjun than I might have said Arjun should leave Maya. (my POV)
