Vandana RIP: A tyrant mil or a petrified mother?

The reasons you mentioned are quite evident on Vandana disliking Maya. But there is huge differences between hating and disliking a person and here I can clearly say Vandana's dislike from initial days has slowly turned into hatred. Okay fine she is worried about Arjun's downfall but lets keep it this way when Arjun threatened Ashwin, he was only a genuine friend to Maya like with Saanjh. That cop clearly said on the after wedding time that Arjun is suspect just because he threatened to Ashwin. Even if the marriage didn't happen, he would still remain a suspect as matter of the fact.

Even I never expected Vandana to open the arms but my concern is on the trust on that Ashwin's words she is putting above everything and overlooking another side of coin. Before marriage too she didn't like Maya because Saanjh was in picture. What she has to understand is no matter how hard she tries Arjun has to face his fate and she cannot save him from the disaster (reality of nature). All she can do is think rationally on how to handle Maya camly rather than badmouthing her.

I am not gonna talk about Arjun's parents death here since that is complete different story and does not relate with your topic.

She might love Arjun as a real son but before being mother she is woman who has face the humiliation in society which Maya had to face on the marriage day. Being a good human being she should rather talk with Arjun directly (he is solely responsible for all this mess between his wife and mom) rather than dragging Maya in her hatred.

As a mother she has every right to think about her son but her blind hatred is going bit overboard. The point where you mentioned I no doubtedly agree about Vandana's as ml has no greedy over getting a wealthy Dl (very rare to see)

Maya's love might not be that simple its just bit more extreme than others but still it is love that can go to any extent to protect not harm others.

Why did vandana like Saanjh so much?
Because Saanjh was already in her grip. She knows Saanjh wouldn't rebel against her and she wouldn't ever doubt her.
On the other hand, vandana is skeptical about Maya because Maya is someone that figures things out quickly. vandana feels that with the coming of Maya, she will end up losing control of the house...

Vandana DID NOT slap Maya...She accidently hit her on the face when Maya tightly clasped her hand n she tried to get it released ...
