What an episode!! Everyone was so good. I'm not going to rank contestants today, because it's so difficult when they were all so good.

First, I loved Richa Sharma singing with the contestants. I quite like Richa Sharma's voice, and it was a delight to hear her.

Revanth - Malvika - brilliant performance. Like Farah says they're a complete package. While Revanth is known for his theatrics, Malvika has gotten better each week. Revanth was flawless today. Not a note out of place, perfect diction, it was like he's been singing this forever. He was so good. I don't like Malvika's voice, but she was very good too. I always say I don't enjoy adding classical elements to every song, but it didn't feel out of place today. That's how good she was. Its good to see how the contestants are getting comfortable and today when Farah asked Anu to hug Revanth, it was good to see Revanth respond the way he did. Though I don't doubt for a second it is a way of endearing himself to the public or more screen time for more votes.

Mohit - Khudabaksh - I personally think Khudabaksh is the weakest contestant at the moment. But today he was so good. He did slip in one or two places but he still sounded good. Mohit has such a powerful voice, and this is his what he (and Khudabaksh) is good at, this is their genre. Mohit overshadowed Khudabaksh so many times, even then Khudabaksh shone. Having said that, like I say every time I'm bored of listening to these two guys sing the same kind of songs each episode. Clearly Khudabaksh and Mohit are Farahs favourites, the number of standing ovations she gives them baffles me. Today was good but not standing ovation worthy.

Tajinder - Malvika - they were both good. But I don't like this pairing. Malvika's voice is very dominating, and she walks away with all the limelight while poor Tajinder who clearly sang way better doesn't get enough attention. Tajinder sings so effortlessly, there's a certain calmness to his voice even in the high notes. I can't imagine him ever sounding shrill. He sang really well today, he brought out the playfulness this song required. Malvika wasn't as good in this song. She was quite shrill many times.

Rohit - Shravan - they sang my favourite song of the day. Shravans singing is flawless but rohits voice has something that I like. I enjoyed them singing and the best part is when they were singing alone Rohit was stupendous, and the parts they sang together Shravan just owned it. But I would've liked them to sing with someone else. They've sung like 3-4 songs together and they've been fantastic (naina thag lenge was my favourite) but I would've liked to see how they collaborated with other singers.

I must say when Shravan was announced to be in the bottom, he looked so disillusioned like he knew. It was sad seeing him like that.

Also when he was eliminated, the expressions of all the contestants spoke so much. It's sad that he had to leave, but he's clearly left winning a lot of respect and admiration from not just the judges but his co contestants as well.

And I think that is Shravans biggest victory. You could win a contest, but to win respect and admiration is worth a lot more.

Today's bottom three showed that even singers with a huge fan following aren't really safe. Mohit has one of the biggest fan following on social media. I'm sure next episode onwards the contestants are going to really pull up their socks - this week we've seen just talent or fan following isn't enough. The results are so unpredictable.

Thanks for your review Raina! I've been putting off watching the episode, don't want to see Shravan go 😭. Also have a very busy day ahead so most likely will be able to watch only tomorrow. So my review can be expected to come up then, if I watch it at all 🤢

Finally watched the episode 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Ok, let me say at the outset that I did not enjoy it and not just because Shravan was ousted. I genuinely thought the song choices and performances were below par. Richa Sharma is great and I love her voice. Also, I loved that they got her to do a small intro to all the songs 👏.

I really don't think I want to give a rating to any of the performances today, since I felt they all did not do their best. They were all holding something back, and that was disappointing. Rohit was the only one who made my belly flip today 😆, and that's saying something.

Having said that, Shravan and Rohit are both such powerhouse performers and "Sajda" is such a great song for them, they could have brought it to another level altogether. But that didn't happen. They were good, yes, but for Shravan and Rohit, being merely good is like underachieving. Rohit was certainly the better of the two, he did some tricky alaaps and actually had the upper hand. To me it seemed as though Shravan was already resigned to his fate, he was so restrained. Yet- yet, he sang effortlessly. Sonu pointed that out perfectly. He said this is so easy for you and it really seemed like it was. Truly, Mohit said it all in the end, after the results were announced. He said that he was nothing in front of Shravan and that takes a big heart - to confess something like that without a hint of pride - on National TV. In this fake world of two minutes of fame and every single person possessing an ego the size of a mountain, his humility in front of a fellow contestant was truly touching. I love the Shravan-Rohit broship combo and I will so miss it in the following weeks to come. 😭. To me, its almost as though Indian Idol has come to an end with Shravan gone. I will continue to follow it, but with cursory interest, don't think I'll even be voting anymore.

My hubby was like -' How can Shravan be gone'? And my little girl went -"They should have let the judges decide. Why did they let the public vote at all?'. So yeah, his going has had a huge impact, and like I mentioned before, I think the standard of the show has been lowered. There's no longer a bar high enough for the other contestants to beat.

The Revanth- Malavika performance was okay, I thought their voices did not compliment each other. Malavika is too loud and powerful and Revanth is too mellow. Also, Malavika went off-key a few times in the song, Revanth was good though - did not make any mistakes, But still, something was missing - like a little extra tadka, that I feel he always holds back. Also, found the theatrics with the wall in between them and the last bit of acting by them where they both touch it simultaneously so laughable! 😆. And the judges were going gaga over that bit! 😲

Mohit-KB was also good. I couldn't find faults with their singing, yet it did nothing for me. Not exciting. And although KB executed some tricky bits very well, again I could find he was off-key in some lower notes. Mohit was better in the sense he was in "sur", but played it safe. So, it was pretty meh for me 🥱. Couldn't understand Farah's superlative praises for them at all! 😕

I would rate Malavika - Tajinder's performance at the bottom. The song and the singing fell totally flat for me. Though I thought Tajinder did a good job in the mukhda - its very long and hard to execute it since there's no place to pause and take a breath.

What was the need for Annu to go overboard and hug Revanth - like, Farah saying its been a while since he hugged him?? 😲. Like W*F was that for?🤬 So gratuitous!

I didn't even enjoy Sonu's performance on "Main hoon na", although the Jagran song was well done by Richa. Is it just me or was Sonu looking like he was unwilling to say anything nice about Richa and words were being forced out of his mouth because she was being so nice to him? 😃😛

Found the judges' reactions, especially Annu Mallik's so Over the top - he was going "Oh My God!" when Shravan's name was read out. Didn't feel like genuine shock to me. In fact, everyone's reactions felt rehearsed, except Mohit's. Even Shravan looked like he knew what was coming. Btw, did any of the judges say anything? I watched online and the version I did just ended it with Mohit calling for a standing ovation for Shravan.

Really nothing worth watching, N.J, except if you want to see Shravan's last performance 🤢. Please could you link me? Where did Shravan share his feelings?

Didn't like the epi infact I'm loosing interest in Idol thanks to the haphazard pace, biased judgement, terrible hosting, OTT gimmicks and monotonous song selections.
I only liked Revanth and Shravan yesterday, who clearly didn't deserve to be eliminated.
Btw does anyone watch Rising Star/ The Voice? TBH, I find them much better.

It was the same on TV as well.

As someone who is used to a daily staple of the Super Singer show from Vijay TV, I am used to over the top send-offs, and while I didn't expect that to happen here, the way the episode ended seemed very cold. You would think that they would give a few more moments for atleast the judges to give some parting words when someone leaves the show.

It was a 'masti-filled' episode, appropriate because the guest was Govinda. First off, I was damn irritated with how much time they spent on Roli Chhadda and his tears and his obsession with Govinda. Even Govinda was embarrassed. And Annu Mallik going crazy dancing! Ugh! Could've done without all of that! What gets to me is the channel focusing attention on all this gratuitous, extraneous stuff and ignoring the real cream of the show - the contestants! (hint, hint: Shravan!)

Anyways, on with the performances. I will write them down according to my rating of them today. This was a mash-up episode with each contestant choosing to do a mash-up of two songs that blend well.

1. Rohit: He was amazing! He chose Budtameez dil and Badan pe sitaare and I so agree with Sonu when he pointed out that Rohit must have had to work so hard to overcome his nervousness and his tendency to stammer, because 'Budtameez dil" has so many words that just come non-stop at a manic pace. I would give full points to Rohit for learning the words, delivering them with the correct diction despite not knowing the language and overcoming his own predilection to give an almost flawless performance. He rocked. His "Badan pe sitaare" was not as awesome, but I love the song and I loved how he interjected with "where are you going madam?" during it, the normally shy Rohit doing that made me smile. And I know its all for votes.😛

2. Tajinder: I thought he was great. He chose "Aake seedhi lagi" which in the original Kishore Kumar had sung with alternating female and male voices and he pulled it off surprisingly well. He possibly won't win votes cos perhaps the songs may not be that popular and he did not pick anything contemporary, but the way he picked up the male bit right after the falsetto female bit (Annu Mallik pointed that out too), was truly praiseworthy. And he didn't lose one beat or one key. Great job!

3. Khuda-baksh: Not sure if he deserved the Golden mike, but he was terrific today. He was in his element and did not make a single mistake. Usually with him, I always wait for those couple of times where he goes off-key (in my view) but it did not happen today at all! I do notice that Annu Mallik goes over the top for him though, its quite annoying.

4. Mohit: His "Maa da laadla" and "Oye lucky" were both pretty entertaining. And Tajinder provided the much-needed backing vocals that made his performance even better. He didn't do anything extraordinary, but he was good.

5. Revanth: I love his voice so much. I do wish he'd pick something other than just Arijit Singh numbers. Was Farah being sarcastic when she made that comment to him? . He's never bad. But this time others outshone him, So I have to put him here in all fairness, he's adequate in a limited sort of way. I wish he'd chosen some different songs though

6. Malavika: She should have been the best, she chose the most foot-tapping numbers in my view - Mera naam chinchinchoo and Eena meena deeka, both absolute rocking favorites of mine. I was so eager and then was so disappointed at her performance. Could not understand how Sonu praised her 😕, she was genuinely off-key in so many parts and in others her screechy high-pitched voice ruined it. Farah said she's sung more complicated numbers than these and she was right, so this should have been easy for her. But she messed up. She's bottom for me.

Govinda is an amazing dancer and I love his comedy movies. But his age is showing up terribly and it was painful to see him the way he is now. . His comments to the contestants were also so inadequate, he added nothing to the show, even his dancing was ruined by Annu Mallik's craziness. 🤢

As the weeks go by, I'm stymied by the judges' comments. At least they were honest with criticism in the beginning, now they're just calling everyone good, and I don't understand it. Today they highlighted KB so much, him saying it had all gone to his head and Sonu pointing out some 'aag' inside of him 😃. I think he's most definitely safe next week. Tajinder might be the one to go. His song choice will probably doom him. Malavika, I don't know. There were so many times I thought she should have gone. but she gets saved. So I will just wait and watch.
