Basically, in TV writers can change stories midway to suit audience preferences and what's best for TRPs.

When Romi was first introduced, she was supposed to be the other woman in RumYa's dynamic.

Then, they twisted it to show that she's sisters with the NBs and is taking revenge from them for her dad's death.

Then, DBO happened and the story had to be changed again. Soumya had to become a -ve character and to revamp the RumYa story in DBO, they had to a)get rid of Romi for a new beginning and b) Make way for Soumya to be the 3rd NB sister.

To make sure that (b) happened, they've now told the audiences that Romi was never actually a NB sister but was just helping the Kapoors because, presumably, she believed they'd killed Robin. As of now, we've been told that Robin mattered a lot to him. We're guessing he was her brother. Now that she's found the truth - that Tia killed Robin - in today's episode, she's helping Shivaay.
