Hi guys!
So this is my first time on the DBO forum, even though I've been following it from the start. Now before people go off on me and try to report my post, I want to make it clear that this is not a comparison post. š This is just what I, as someone who has followed Omkara's story from the very beginning hope to see from a world dedicated almost entirely to him.
DBO is starting tomorrow and from what we've seen of the spoiler pictures, it's kicking off in the grandest possible way. However, since I'll be knowing some of the characters intimately already, I have certain expectations I hope don't get lost in all the oomph.
Here's what I, as an avid IB (and therefore, an avid Omkara) viewer hope to see when DBO starts this Monday:
A Healthy Amount of OBros
I have to admit, the last episode of IB, where Omkara is quite literally saying goodbye to his brothers brought a few tears in my eyes. š While I understand why we can't have regular Obro moments, I'm still expecting to see a healthy dose of our beloved ShivOmRu on a weekly basis. The show is called Dil Boley Oberoi after all.
Plus, I also want Shivaay and Rudra to point out Om's feelings towards Gauri to him - just as Om and Rudra used to do for Shivika. I'm looking forward to the secret, knowing smiles between Rudy and Shivaay when Gaurika (is that the ship name?) are together. I want them to point out the love-hate chemistry. In fact, I'd actually love for Shivaay to throw a romantic shair Om had previously used to refer to Shivika back at him. How cool would that be?
Bringing Back the Old Omkara
Now, I understand that this is somewhat of a touchy topic, so I will try and tread carefully. While, I have been able to swallow the sour pill that has been Om's transition, I still can't digest Om giving up on artistry. š
I really hope this 500 crore deal is a one-off thing that he's done just to pay off Svetlana. Ever since we've been introduced to him, Omkara's very identity has been tied to art, poetry, creativity, understanding. While I could understand if his andar ka shair has died due to whatever's happened to his mother, I can't really understand him completely giving up artistry as a profession.
I know some people are saying that he can now show his father that he, too, can do business and shut Tej up once and for all. But the thing is, Tej's problem with Om was never that he couldn't do business, but that he refused to do so. By becoming a businessman, he'll just prove Tej right. Tej'll be able to boast now - "see? you had to get into business to earn some real money. You couldn't do that with art."
So I hope, this foray into business is temporary. If not, I'd love to see Om being a bit lost in the business world and Gauri reminding him that he's meant to be inside a studio.
Some Similarities Between Gauri and Anika
Since we've been told by various reliable sources that Gauri and Anika are going to be sisters, I don't want the show makers to simply throw this at us out of nowhere.
I know they can't give us anything explicit, like Gauri having the same flashbacks that Anika has - that would be too obvious - I'm still expecting them to hint at it from time to time. For example, I'm fully expecting Gauri to also be scared of the dark (if that's a genetic thing). This one's not that obvious, too, since every other heroine on Indian telly has this fear. š
Also, I'd love to for Anika and Gauri to have a one-on-one before the truth is revealed. They can both allude to the sisters they've lost long, long ago. That might be too in-your-face but it'll be a nice touch.
Lots of RumYa
After Shivika, RumYa were my favourite couple on IB and I've always felt that Leenesh and Neha are really, really strong actors, with some great chemistry between them, who haven't been given their due.
Now, I heard somewhere on the forum itself that RumYa will have the same amount of SS in DBO and IB. I'm hoping against hope that's not the case since RumYa have a lot of potential. A) they aren't the typical Gul couple and she might have the opportunity to explore something she's never done previously. B) they're just too CUTE!š
P.S. I also wouldn't mind Soumya going grey. Gul can actually stick to her love for love-hate couple, except the roles will be reversed with the boy being innocent and bubbly and the girl, serious and akroo. It's an arc that might just surprise us.
Some Respite from the Oberoi Mansion
I'm sure the reason is obviousš. I get that the production house has no money and they just have to shoot in the same set everyday but I really hope the OM set isn't the regular set for DBO. I don't think I can look at the same, boring setting for 40 minutes every day. š
Finally, Some Sizzling Chemistry
While I may bash, rant against and rip apart Gul's shows on a regular basis, the fact is that her lead pairs always have some sizzling, fire-hot chemistry. I've seen a bit of Shrenu's previous show and I know she's a good actress. We've seen Kunal since the beginning of IB and he's one of the strongest actors on the show (if anyone doubts that, check out episode 201). RumYa ka toh we all know how amazing they are.
Together, I'm expecting them to set my TV - or rather, my laptop - on fire. While on one side we have the subtle, much more endearing RumYa, I want Gaurika to have the kind of hate chemistry that, perhaps, ArShi used to have - the kind with obvious sexual underlaying to it.
If All Else Fails
We still have this š
That's it with my rant. Sorry, it's really gone on. Do share your views as well.
Can't wait for DBO to start!
