“Rajinikanth ki tarah prasad doonga”: Govinda warns makers for dragging his peronal life in Govinda Naam Mera

Veteran star Govinda has finally spoken about the 2022 film Govinda Naam Mera, and his words make it clear that the title did not sit well with him. In a recent chat with ANI, the actor shared that he felt uneasy about his name being used for the film and hinted that parts of the story seemed uncomfortably close to his personal life. Here’s what he had to say.

‘Kisi Ne Mere Naam Se Picture Bana Di’

Without taking direct names at first, Govinda said, “Kisi ne mere naam se picture bana di.. shaayad Govinda Mera Naam (Govinda Naam Mera)..i don’t know..mujhe lagta hai Karan Johar ki thi.”

The film, directed by Shashank Khaitan and backed by Karan Johar, starred Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani. It revolved around a complicated marriage and an extramarital relationship, leading to chaos and misunderstandings.

Govinda suggested that filmmakers sometimes cross a line by making things personal. He did not hold back while expressing his disappointment. “Kahin mera haath lag gaye, toh aadarniya Rajinikanth ki tarah itna main prasad doonga, aur beech mehfil ke andar doonga.” He quickly added, “I promise, no misbehave, please. I request. With folded hands. Mazak har jagah par har tarah se acha nahi lagta hai.”

The actor made it clear that while he understands humour in cinema, he believes there should be sensitivity when it comes to someone’s private life. He also said he does not wish to stretch the issue further. “I do not want to discuss this topic further. Even answering it feels disrespectful.”

Why Govinda Stepped Away From Politics

During the same interaction, Govinda also reflected on his decision to leave politics. He explained that his priority has always been his family. According to him, political rivalries and public life could have affected his home environment and his children. That, he said, is something he did not want. He chose peace over power, stepping back so that his family would not face unnecessary pressure.

On a more personal note, Govinda spoke proudly about his son Yashvardhan. “Yash mujhse behtar actor banega. Wo technically mujhse zyada strong hai..he is huge,” he said with confidence.

He revealed that he has been quietly supporting his son’s journey. Govinda shared that on his request, producer Sajid Nadiadwala provided Yash with a cabin to observe and understand filmmaking closely, helping him learn the craft from behind the scenes.
