I have stopped watching IB for quite a time now, habitually go through the forum sometimes and my urge to reply to this topic made me watch this very episode 😆
I despise manhandling as well as submissiveness, the reason why I lost interest in this show, as it had both unlike Gul's other shows where women put up some fight/resistance atleast. Coming to the topic, I ageee with the TM here, though don't agree with a lot of replies in agreement with TM in this post.
Strictly sticking to this particular scene as I am not sure Omkara will not indulge in any manhandling in future. For me manhandling is when a man exerts physical violence on a woman to get his things done or to make her bow down to his demand or to boost up his male ego by taking advantage of her natural physical weakness. Omkara didn't seem to be doing any of it, he was striking a deal with her without getting violent, he was composed though not calm when Svet spewed poison until she uttered his mother's name, the reaction what he had was very human, anyone would do it regardless of the gender of opposite person. He didn't do it because he thought she is a woman and he can overpower her easily, it was reaction in a fit. By saying this I think his next reaction of sqeezing her face was borderline manhandling, it wasn't a instant reaction, instead the continuation.
If he was really into manhandling or was a MCP then he wouldn't think of getting engaged to her in the first place, he could directly threaten her, get violent, throw her out, kidnap her, keep her closed behind the door by tieing up instead of striking a deal with her. Shivaay or Tej wouldn't do this instead they would go with the former options.
Till now Om hasn't been a MCP, not even yesterday, he has flaws but being MCP isn't of them. But can't say he won't be in future.
If we look with the perceptive of violence then yes Om is guilty of it but if we look with the perceptive of gender discrimination then no his actions can't be put there. He would get violent regardless of the gender of opposite person. But yeah, if we see legally then Svetlana stands better chance of suing Om for abuse than a any other man.
