Finally, Raees, the man, the acting is invisible, he Is Raees
Anachronist
ok my review for Raees
1. Story - Story is how a small guy gets into crime business thinking how no business is small and bad as long as it does not hurt anybody . There is one IPS officer who is against Raees however and will not stop until Raees is stopped . There is game of wits between the two . However something happens which shakes the core of Raees's business ethics and whether he redeems himself or just fails forms the rest of the movie.
2. Direction - DIrection is above average . There are few scenes where direction could have been bit tighter .
3. Acting - Movie depends a lot on Raees aka SRK and Nawaz to a bit lesser extent . Both of them don't disappoint and have done good work.
4. Music - average . I liked only jaalima .
5. Action- normal , nothing extraordinary
On the whole SRK and nawaz make the movie work .
Verdict - 3.25 stars from my side , movie is more like the masala movies . However point to be noted is that this is one of the better movies by SRK in recent years and the fans who were starved of decent movie from their superstar would throng the theatres .
Downside - nothing much , just as pointed out music should have been more better and mahira khan seems disinterested.

Sorry for the late reply guys, better late then never!
******NON SPOILER REVIEW*********
Went to the late showing last night at 8.30pm, freezing cold working day and it was 90% full! which is crazy, i know UK loves SRK but the hype for Raees was on a whole different level, i've never come across this much craze for a bollywood film in the UK before. Guess people were excited to see SRK in a negative role š
The film starts with Chota SRK, who was awesome, and he looked like SRK too, with the big fluffy hair!
SRK's entry, EPIC. Possibly the best of his career, on par with Don 2's entry.
The first half was AMAZING, from start to Intermission was just a non stop fun ride, SRK and Nawazudin owned every scene. Introduction of Mahira was good too.
Cliffhanger before the Intermission - OMG, unbelievable, what a intermission it was, couldnt wait for the second half to start. Laila o Laila, SRK, everything about it was amazing.
The second half was a little slower then the first half, but it was just as great, More emotion and more story telling. Loved it,
The ending, Again, AMAZING. everyone left the theatre with high praise.
Ummi Jaan was great at the start, loved her scenes with Chota SRK.
SRK's boss (forgot his name) was good, had a good screen presence
SRK's friend (im crap with names) was brilliant from start to finish.
Mahira, First of all, her role wasn't that big BUT she had a very significant role, and she acted it out brilliantly! Also, i've never been a fan of her looks but damn she looked beautiful throughout š³
Nawaz - Man i can't get enough of this guy, awesome actor and he was amazing throughout, his scenes with SRK were edge-of-the-seat stuff. amazing. Nawaz has acted with some all time greats (Salman/Aamir) and always outshined them, but in Raees, although he was amazing he was outshined by someone else, another Khan. Shah Rukh Khan.
That brings me SRK, The Baadshah of bollywood! what a performance from King Khan, Mind blowing! Honestly feel its one of the best performance of SRK's career, up there with Chak De, MNIK and Swades.
*****SPOILERS***
The intermission was f'in amazing, the laila o laila song with SRK going into the party killing his boss who he looked upto was such a bad ass scene, the way he cried infront of Mahira was so greatly acted to, so emotional.
The end, what can i say? i knew SRK would die but i honestly hoped there was a twist, Raees somehow manages to stay alive, and we get to see a sequel, hopefully with a solo release on Eid/Christmas breaking all records and hearts across the globe, but that was not meant to be.
So yeah, i knew Raees would die but damn, the way he died was so blood emotional i nearly had a tear in my eye! the girls next to me and infront of me were full on crying, so sad but so bloody brilliantly acted by both SRK and Nawaz.
**** End Spoiler****
Raees was such a brilliant film, non stop entertaining gangster action from start to finish, mixed with some comedy, great action scenes and a very emotional ending. Amazing movie, props to Rahul, the screenplay, the script, the songs, the cast and the run time was all perfect š
I don't know if its just because i watched it just last night but i honestly feel this is one of my all time favourite bollywood films, certainly SRK film, I may have liked Raees then my current all time favourite Don 2.
9/10 for me š
A MUST WATCH āļø
bafflingtulipSaw the movie yesterday ! I absolutely loved it; it was paisa vasool and I can see why SS audience would lap it up.
srk was amazing and once again he made me cry ; what's new in that. Srk and nawaz's chemistry was highlight of the movie and I loved their back and forth. I did feel the first half was a tiny bit dragged out but all in all everyone in my theatre came out liking the movie.
I don't think Mahira was just a show piece intact I didn't expect her to have the length of role she did and I'm glad farhan didn't chop her role because it adds to Raees outside of his dhanda. She was a bit stiff but eventually came into her own.

Trying for three days finally managed some tickets.
Okay the young Raees and Sadik were love. Their bhaijaan bit at the end made me choke.
Mahira infact had a significant role and she played her part really well.
Nawaz and his dialogues mannn he was hilarious. He was so good however never understood his obsession with Raees. But a really good performance.
Sadik urf Zeeshan was amazing. He is such a brilliant actor and I am glad he was so prominent throughout.
Now coming to SRK that first scene of him doing maatam with zanjeer was brilliant. His face when Jairaj insults him, Shah nailed it. And when he kills Jairaj the young raees flashback the guy is brilliant.
The bit where he kills Musa was so terrible to watch but how convincing Shah was as the wounded tiger.
My most favourite scene actually two. His breakdown that the money was lost. But Asiya and Sadik stood by him even when he accused them and hurt them. Their bond was beautiful. That song when he is walking in the neighbourhood š„ŗ
And the last scene I had a lump in my throat. Him remembering his past moments. The close up of Shah is like haunting me his eyes with that surma and him seeing Asiya and Faizan š
SRK is so freaking good. Take a bow š
The supporting cast was so good and everyone acted brilliantly.
No one plays bad like SRK does and I have always believed that Shah's main genre is not romance but grey characters. He needs to do thriller/crime movie as soon as possible.
The story was so close to home as the place I come from is bordered with Gujarat and smuggling isn't unheard of.
So much to write but words falling short. I don't want to rate it because the movie is a breath of fresh air for the SRKian in me and I just want to cherish Shah's performance and the entire cast.

Watched it. What a movie!!šš Masaledar and Entertaining. The movie keeps hold of you, and yes it belongs to Shah Rukh. He simply captures the screen. Despite the detractors and his age, still SRK is able to carry the movie on his shoulders, commendable.
All the actors did a good job at actingāļøāļøāļø
The child playing Raees was very good and his role could have been extended for some more time. Raees mother's role could also have been extended to show his emotions and his nature. Pashabhai, Jairaj, Ratna madam, Doctor sahab, Nawab, Musa bhai, Sadiq, all were very good and left their mark.
Shah Rukh entry scene is good, it invites whistles, the whole get back is fabulous. All SRK scenes including his fights esp the roof top one where he tries to catch his assassinator was damn good and shot very well.
Also the scene when the kid Raees carries the bottles in his bag and looks back at Jairaj.Nawaz entry was fine but how can an IPS officer dance like that?šš¤Ŗ The phone tapping was never so easy and you needed approvals to get that done. Nawaz role was not strongly built into story rather coerced to show someone on side of law.
The scene where the opposition party leader Pashabhai tries to take his stop alcohol march thru Raees locality was pretty realistic and that is how riots start. The bottle throwing was WOW
Humour is built into the story nicely - biryaani, Gandhiji ka chasma, Doctor scenes, Sadiq and Raees scenes.
Acting wise I found Nawaz fine but not as brilliant as the film critics make him out to be. Infact at some places I found him less convincing. The guy playing Daglu seth or something did a good job.
Mahira had quite good role but she is unable to act well and fails miserably esp in the intense breakdown scene of Raees when he realises that all the money was lost in the housing society project. They could have taken Nimrit kaur and she would have a good job.
The butcher area fight scene was repulsive and hurts the sensibility and you want the scene to get over right away.
They took inspiration from the old drive in cinema and movie played was of ABšš The way SRK enters the car was damn goodšš
In the end Raees remembers his journey from start till end, this leaves the audience emotional. And some people did say why kill him? The character of Raees builds emotional connect with audience via his actions by helping needy, building housing society and returning money back and then when he tells Musa that " main Dharm ka dhandha nahi karta".
The song Saanson ke kisi ek mod par, Mili thi tu zindagi... Chala main apni manzil ko
Ja tu bhi laut ja ghar ko, Samajh paun na main tujhko, Naa tu mujhko was the surprise song but a meaningful song and well built into the story.
Baniye ka dimag aur miyabhai ki daring dono hai iske paasššš
An engrossing and entertaining movieāļø

Just got back from the movie, will write the review later at night, need to collect my thoughts!
Superb, Fantastic, Gripping Drama! āļø
Story of the Rise and Fall of Raees Alam kept me engrossed throughout the movie!
Movie belonged to SRK, through and through! He WAS RAEES!
Theater I went to was 80% full. Good thing I went a bit early and got a good seat nahin toh 1st row mein baithkar gardan mein moch aa jaati š
I live in a majority desi town, mostly Gujjus and Telegus.
There was a large percentage of Gujratis in the audience, whole families had come to enjoy the sights, sounds and cultural references to Gujrat.
When we were coming out of the hall, there was an inconsolable young girl, a teenager, who was crying, Why did he have to die? Why did it end like that?
Her mother was consoling her, dont worry they will make a sequel and Raees' son will grow up to be Shah Rukh Khan.
We all started laughing at that š

Zaalima humko Raees se pyar hogaya.
Finally watched it guys. I'm so happy, my Shah was awesome and that freaking voice ufff zaalima kya kardiya tune ahahaha. š
Okay seriously though, I really enjoyed the film, and Shah was Raees no SRK in sight which has been a problem at times. I loved the film, and it was nicely made. THough I will admit it needed a little more punch at times but definitely a very good entertaining SRK film.
I went in thinking oh gosh Mahira is terrible since that was the general consensus, but boy was I surprised, she was actually quite good, yeh a few limitations here and there especially in some emotional scenes but that also looked like it was because they didn't give her much time to react. She held her own next to Shah, and that's an achievement in itself, my eyes loved looking at her. And I'm not even biased towards Mahira, I like her but I will admit she isn't a strong actress, and has been extremely lucky but she wasn't terrible like people said. She and Shah had awesome chemistry, they looked amazing together.
Zaalima song is just LOVE!!!
The fight scenes were great, it was after a long time we got to see such kind of fighting and Shah was so good.
He is always so perfect in grey roles. None of the Khans can do a better grey role than him none of them.
