Didn't point out earlier because, its like 25 years people have been deriving different pronunciations out of that one name... I feel so done that I usually skip correcting people who usually skip that extra a or e from my name... And after sometime I forget something happened so...

But we people are in regular contact, so thought to point that out... I hope you didn't mind me.😳

You will need to see what happened... I think the most obvious reason is not visible to many...😛😆

CHAPTER-6

Aankh hai bhari bhari aur tum,

Muskuraane ki baat karte ho...

Zindagi khafa khafa aur tum,

Dil lagaane ki baat karte ho...

A fat tear dropped Sonakshi's big eye, right into her lap as she looked down not to break down so quickly... She had sat in the garden to avoid any confrontation from the Dixits, but she couldn't hide from that person who held a pristine place in her heart for more than two years now... They started from being strangers, to being a boss and employee to being the best of friends, to being lovers, and then in the loop started pretending the same track... They suddenly had started pretending into being strangers, and then again, a boss and employee, and now again as friends, when both clearly knew that love is something that never ceased from their hearts for each other despite trying to hate as much as they wanted to move on... But it never happened... So, if not calling themselves lovers, they knew they can safely call themselves as best friends, and they won't be wrong...

Dev thought to wind his arm around her shoulder to give her a support to begin with... But he didn't think it right to intimidate her with an enforcing relationship, she might take his actions wrong... He instead held her hands kept idly in her lap and gave a warm press to it... She looked up at him with a pearly tear sitting right at the tip of her eyelid... The pearl broke off as it trailed down her cheek bone... Her lips were quivering... She was trying hard to control her sob, and his comfort was making it more difficult for her...

"Dev..." Sonakshi whispered...

"Sonakshi, main yahan se hilunga nahi jab tak tum ye nahi bata deti ki hua kya... You need to talk to me at least..." Dev insisted as a fresh batch of tears flowed from her eyes...

Mere haalaat aise hain, ki main kuch kar nahi sakti,

Tadapta hai ye dil lekin, main aahein bhar nahi sakti...

Zakhm hai hara hara aur tum,

Chot khaane ki baat karte ho...

Zindagi khafa khafa aur tum,

Dil lagaane ki baat karte ho...

Aankh hai bhari bhari aur tum,

Muskuraane ki baat karte ho...

Sonakshi wiped her tears on seeing a determined look on his face...

"Maine poocha, ki why did he give you a divorce...? Tell me everything happened in the past One and a half years..." Dev was clear with his every word...

Sonakshi breathed out a heavy breath as she began- "Aapke saamne jab main vida hoke Ritwick ke ghar gayi, toh they were all very supportive and helping... They all gradually helped me settle down in this new lifestyle...

Ritwick has been a great friend, usne kabhi mujhe force nahi kiya ke main aapko bhool jaaun, balki mujhe iss baat ka confidence diya ki mujhe ye pretend nahi karna chahiye ke main aapse pyar nahi karti... He asked me to be truthful and honest, and that is what it happened to be...

We started falling into our routines and carried on with our married life, with me trying to fill in on all the duties of being a wife and a daughter in law..." Sonakshi considered Dev's eyes for a moment and then slid her lashes down in shame... She felt awful about herself that she let another man let have the rights on her that she had always wanted Dev to have... She couldn't muster the courage to meet his eyes... She betrayed him...

Understanding her bodylanguage he knew there was shame, but he didn't want her to feel that anymore... The warm tug at her hand that he gave, she looked up at him, and his warm smile melted that enamel of shame around her seeing his acceptance of the fact... He didn't say anything, but his gestures showed her his comforting intentions... He nodded his head in an upward direction, asking her to continue...

"Things were all right and fine until I had excruciating pain in my abdomen that forced them all to take me to the hospital... Ritwick himself being a doctor insisted on being with me during entire examination... The diagnosis by the doctor didn't look good to them... My body was trying to conceive but my uterus was hostile... Means, the conditions for the feotus to grow weren't good in my uterus, and that is why that abdomen pain shooted up... I couldn't conceive." Sonakshi told.

"Phir?" Dev asked trying to connect the dots... It cannot happen that due to a miscarriage a divorce happened, Ritwick didn't look that stupid...

Zamaane mein bhala kaise mohabbat log karte hain,

Wafaa ke naam ki ab toh shikaayat log karte hain...

Aag hai bujhi-bujhi aur tum,

Lau jalaane ki baat karte ho...

Zindagi khafa khafa aur tum

Dil lagaane ki baat karte ho...

Aankh hai bhari bhari aur tum,

Muskuraane ki baat karte ho...

"Phir?" Sonakshi looked at Dev, as if she was shaken up to reality with his voice when she was dwelling in the past...

"Aagey kya hua sonakshi... Unn logo ne kya kaha..." Dev was sitting close to her...

"Papa, matlab, Ritwick ke papa ko bohot dukh hua ye sunke... Par unhone mujhe Madhu, Ritwick ki badi behen ke saath Kolkata jaane ko kaha... They had great belief in a certain physician from the older times... She may tell something better..." Sonakshi told... Dev couldn't nod this time because she herself continued- "Purane naye, physicians, gynecologist, sab dikha diye... But all said there's no hope for me becoming a mother..." Sonakshi's voice was shrnking... "What followed next was really not thought of Dev... Not suddenly, but eventually their behaviours started becoming rude... Papa and Madhu's... They would get angry at me at littlest of things... Slowly it turned to taunts regarding me being infertile... I was bearing all that, quietly... I didn't know what to do... Ritwick tried to defend me, but things were slowly worsening..."

"Kya hua tha... Mujhe bataao..." Dev was getting irritated now... How could they mentally torture her for something that is beyond her control...

"One day Maa had called at the landline because I wasn't picking up the call on my cellphone... What they began talking as a cordial conversation asking my in-laws if I was a good daughter in law turned out to be something horrible... Ritwick's father and sister began accussing maa and baba for cheating on them... For them as it is I was a "used" girl since I had a boyfriend in my past, things weren't enough, that I carried on that baggage of my emotional vulnerability of missing my love, that too they were enduring for their son's sake, that they lied to them about their daughter being completely "useless"... " Sonakshi stopped as she gasped... Dev's hold on her hand got tighter... He was holding constraints to not punch those people in the face...

"Sorry!" Dev apologized for hurting her... He immediately soothed her hand...

"Unn logo ne keh diya ke wo aakar mujhe yahan se le jaayein nahi toh they will throw me out of their house... Baba was deeply hurt... They did come there to pick me up... Baba fought tooth and nail with him for disgracing their pride in their daughter and all that... Maa too tried pacifying the situation, but things kept on getting worse, and Ritwick got angry on maa and baba for disrespecting his father...

I was taken home by maa and baba, and a few weeks later the divorce notice came to our home... Ritwick had filed it... The court had given us a gestation period of six months to stay together in a separate house to anyhow dissolve the tension... Ritwick moved in with me in the new house... He wasn't angry with me for my inability of becoming a mother, but because baba had insulted his father, and now he could do anything for his father's pride... Right now his father wanted him to divorce me, and that was the least he could do to him... And like that, yet again I was left on the cross roads by another man because of his parent..." Sonakshi spoke lethargically, as Dev went down on his knees before her, and kept his face in her lap... This time he had unrestricted tears...

Kabhi jo khwaab dekha toh mili parchaaiyaan mujhko,

Mujhe mehfil ki khwaahish thi, mili tanhaaiyaan mujhko...

Har taraf dhuaan dhuaan aur tum,

Aashiyaane ki baat karte ho...

Zindagi khafa khafa aur tum,

Dil lagaane ki baat karte ho...

Aankh hai bhari bhari aur tum,

Muskuraane ki baat karte ho...

"During this gestation time to get rid of that over powering sadness since Ritwick was just living with me to complete those six months, he did not want to progress this relation anymore, did I join the hospital that I met Aunty ji in..." Sonakshi continued... "She was in such a bad condition that I felt like life was unfair to everybody... I needed a job urgently to earn for myself, as well keep myself absolutely busy, so much so that I just go to that house and sleep, to begin another day..."

Dev looked up from Sonakshi's lap... She was in such pain when she was trying to wipe his and his family's pain... She was on a verge of her divorce, that is why she didn't want to share her personal life with anybody?- " Sonakshi, itna kuch chal raha tha, aur tumne mujhe ek baar bhi nahi bataaya?"

"Kis mooh se batati Dev... Kya bataati...Har kisi ko main opportunist lagti jaisa Neha keh rahi thi... Mujhe aapke paison se koi matlab nahi tha Dev, I just wanted to be busy... Ab aunty ji ka treatment khatam ho raha hai, ab kuch aur kaam dhoondhungi to keep myself hectic..." Sonakshi spoke...

"Itna paraaya kar diya tumne mujhe Sonakshi, ke ab main tumhare mann ki baat bhi nahi samajh sakta? Tumhe lagta hai ki main tumhe opportunist samajhta?" Dev got up on his knees, cupping her face in his large arms- "Maine tumse pyaar kiya hai Sonakshi... Duniya chaahe kuch bhi bole, mere ghar wale kuch bhi bole, I know the fact ki main tumhe kabhi ghalat nahi samajhta... Arre jab tum mere saamne Ritwick se shaadi karke jaa rahi thi, tab bhi jab main tumhe ghalat nahi samajh paaya, toh kya aaj samajhta?" Dev tried to console her and drill some sense in her mind...

"Doesn't matter Dev... The bottom line is, I am divorced, good for nothing, and nothing but an ex to you... I cannot spoil anymore time of the either of us... I will just complete my tenure here, and then leave..." Sonakshi got up from the bench... She could hear Ishwari asking for her... She left the garden wiping the left over of the half dried up tears... And Dev stood there on his spot with a totally pained look.
