The definitions of Faith are
1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion,

I know it is a funny title but these two seems to be running in parallel in this show along with Romance, Mothers insecurities etc

Let us talk about Faith first
Dev Dixit has complete Faith in his Mother
Easwari has faith in God or is inclined spiritually

leap of faith
noun
an act of believing in or attempting something whose existence or outcome cannot be proved.
Sona had a leap of faith when she decided to marry Dev inspite of the writing on the wall

Now to Baby

Neha did not want a Baby not sure of that still has relevance in the story but the story started that way
Dev and Sona want a baby
Sona cannot have a baby

In this story as we see now even though it is said Sona has infertility issues she still has the 7% chance , Easwari wants the control back without losing face before Dev so she sends them on this mission baby and is probably hoping that Baby will NOT happen so she can tell Dev that she tried all things to be accepting of sona but now he needs to fulfill his promise of a baby to her. Kind of like the Rithwik story wanted Sona to be happy yadda yadda

The twist in the tale..The makers seems to have shown Faith as in spiritual faith so many times on this show so will that faith turn the 7% to 100%? so the trump card of Easawri so to speak is thwarted by a real baby that too borne of faith . Is Faith more powerful than the key players here?

Disclaimer: I am not by any means supporting the way the story is portrayed just curious as to why they would have chosen Faith and Baby

To quote Tagore

Every Child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged by Man

How important is FAITH can be religious or other in our lives?
Can once faith is broken be restored back? Will the restored faith!have the same intensity as before?

Thoughts? No brickbats 😆

All our lead characters are guided by some kind of faith. Dev has blind faith in his mother, Ishwari has a strong faith in her God, her past struggles and therefore the very foundation of her home and values she gave to Dev, sonakshi has immense faith in the power of love.
Ironically, all three of them have had their respective faith(s) challenged by the Almighty, is crumbling and soon will collapse (matter of time).

Sonakshi took the biggest leap of faith - which sadly, Dev has not been able to lap up and has broken every promise despite loving her so much.

The baby part is all contrived and is the making of the CVs. It's so evident and predictable that it has fallen flat on their face. We all know what the consummation on Monday will lead to - dixit baby mission complete. So what's the point of the infertility track! Rather, our faith in the CVs is shaken and broken :)

First of all how is it you slay all the time. I wrote this rambling kind of post..but you have written so well in reply👏

Yep I agree with all you said about faith and totally agreed with the contrived baby track..but I was just trying to see if the writers had a deeper meaning..you know being writers and all😉

Thanks again

You are too kind and generous with your comments. Never have I ever felt this strongly about a show, except for game of thrones. So I hate it now like how ishwari /supriya being a veteran actor had taken the centrestage and my dark horse Sonakshi/erica is lagging behind.
P. S. You have great sensibilities and some of it rubs off on me.. Love this forum and you all. 😊

Yes all three have faith but whose faith is genuine:
1. Dev doesn't have faith. He has blind obsessive need to keep his mother happy so that he can convince himself that he has won from real God who I'll treated him and his mother.

2.ishwari believes in God and worshipping, penance etc. But she has neither faith nor trust in him. That is why the constant lying, cheating and manipulating. And conveniently blaming it on God's will.

3. The only person who has genuine faith is sonakshi. God is not in temples or prayers. He is in being kind, loving , selfless . He is in having faith in love and in the inherent goodness of people. He is in kindness. So sonakshi is much nearer to God already.

The temple scene in which ishwari invokes her so called bhakti to say that sona must have a child so that she can feel ishwari pain will prove to be the last nail in ishwaris coffin. God will give the child to the person who has genuine faith but this child will prove to be the biggest downfall of the person who has always made a mockery of faith (courtesy prenup)

Excellent post as always, Sabita. I believe faith has two sides - one people believe in wholeheartedly themselves but it's their private thing and the other people try to forcefully shove into others.
The later is what Dev and Ishwari have.

Dev thinks his mother is God and hence always right and he constantly tries to shove it down on Sona without considering what she wants. He also wants never having to choose between his mother and Sona and that's only possible if Ishwari loves Sona, hence he tries to shove Sona down on Ishwari whether she even can tolerate her or not.

Ishwari is the same. She can never like Sona. So she keeps playing kitchen politics with her and Dev's marital life and she keeps shoving her sacrifices, her debt and family obligations down on Dev any time he wants to move forward and to Sona everytime she thinks that she has any place in Dixit family.

The former is personal faith which Sonakshi has on her love. She doesn't have faith in Dev. She lost it even before marriage. What she had faith on based on which she married him was faith in her love to "fix" all problems and remove all barrier together. But she is even losing faith in her love now because Dev has never been one unit with her as long as Ishwari is around.

But due to Dev and Ishwari's constant force on her to conform has slowly making her lose her faith in her love and any kind of chance at forming a healthy relationship with Dixit family. But may be that's what Ishwari wants...

First to answer your question, faith is one thing which once broken, hardly is restored as a standalone feeling. It may be restored but always with a fear of insecurity running in the subconscious mind.

I dont believe by now Dev still has this 'unquestionable' trust on Ishwari. The first realization was when Ishwari tried to justify her 'Rithwik' act to Dev and Dev listened to it, but he clearly didn't buy it. Ever since then, it's more like his habit or obligation to obey Ishu to maintain peace at home. You can clearly see that he reads through Ishu's mind, he doesnt argue with Sona anymore on Ishu's disliking her. He knows, sad thing is he isnt willing to work on it and wants a miracle to happen to solve it.

Ishu has no faith in God, a liar like her who fraudulently cheats her son into something cannot be associated with such a sacred feeling like faith. She 'thinks' she has faith in God. God might be laughing at her audacity though. She just has insecurity and deep sense of controlling and PLAYING the God to people around her 🤔. I have seen people who truly have faith in God, they never try to control any other human being and let God decide their fate. Ishu doesnt.

Sona is the only one who is purely consumed by the emotion Faith which takes birth from Love. But her faith is SO shaken at this point that she is gonna erupt like a Volcano soon. I watched today's episode and it was quite evident how every 5 mins she was trying to calm herself down and finally she couldn't. Slap-incident would be the last straw.

For Dev, it would take time to acknowledge the fact that he doesnt trust Ishu anymore. He ignores it right now, but the end is nearing.

P.S. - Lovely post Sabita. As usual very thought-provoking ⭐️👍🏼

Wow kick@@ reply as always.
I totally agree that there are two sides to faith atleast. Personal faith is like you said a private one. One which does not need external validation but validation from within. This kind of faith sustains whereas faith which is thrust upon you after sometimes suffocates and you tend to rebel.

I don't know if the makers thought this way but the different interpretations of subjects like this is fascinating.

I agree with you once faith is broken it is never the same again. But faith which is unshakable like faith in a higher being for example may waver but regains itself ..this is just my opinion because I have very strong faith in that.

But faith which is dependent on someone's actions once broken cannot be restored to its original. For example I have seen woman who have gone back to their cheating spouses but am not sure if they can fully have faith in that institution of marriage.

I agree about Dev I think he is manipulative just like Easwari he wants to keep her happy in her bubble so pretends to go along. But the problem is Sona being so truthful will not toe the line .

P.s I saw Tia and your pic looks like you guys had a great time
Thanks for replying
