Ok, so my answers will be biased towards what I have I faced in Punjab when I studied there ji. Living in hostel tells you a lot.

1. NOOOO, girls and guys are treated very differently ji. For example, at the hostel, girls in time wa 5pm(meaning you couldn't leave the hostel grounds after 5pm), and guys had none. The guys could go and come back whenever they wanted, go into the city with no permission ji. the girls had to get signed permission from the parents, then the warden, then the dean if they wanted to even step out of the campus area. Even the classrooms were so different. The guys could talk to the teacher very straightforwardly, and ask whatever. If the girl asked, she would be told that it is not polite to interrupt the class, haye. Oh then the clothing. Guys could wear basically nothing, and if a girl had sleeveless on, or a skirt that reached the ankles, it was like omg, she has no sharam.

Then out of campus it was if you talked to another guy, even if you consider him a bhai, ungli uthti thi on the girl not the guy. It was like come on, if she is talking to him, then HE is also there na, but no, only the girl. It was alwayz the girl in the house who was told ke yeh karo, woh karo, you need to back when, when you need to do what, uff.

2. Simplest b/c I can give is the waaris thing I guess. Then also, the girls have abused their freedom and the other parents just made this pahvandiya on the rest of the girls. It's really hard in Punjab to be a girl and be able to voice your thoughts ji, and that's b/c a handful girls have done wrong.

3. Well this difference I saw happened in an educated enviornment. The dean was a woman, and she made sure to keep all these rules on the girls. Education in my opinion carries no value on the traditions that have been kept on. Education can give you knowledge, but the power to change your enviornment. Even with no education a person can change their soch ji. It's just that things have been put this way, and they just can't seem to get out of it. In education, well in the college I went to, the teachers emphazised a lot on how everyone should behave according to the society rules, and how one shouldn't break them. One of them actually said that girls in our society are meant to be kept in the home, where they look nice and respectful ji. Out of the house the girl looks dirty, haye, I got into so much trouble after this lol. Society as a whole needs to change, not just being educated, a society is based on rules that were written by those less educated, and those who are well educated follow them ji. Haye, sooo complicated.

5. I think it is not fair. 5000 years ago when civilzation was introduced first to the world came from India, where women were treated equally, and in some cases as superior. The girl had the right to choose her husband, and rights that were equal to man. As civilization evolved, the rights for women increased. See if it's fair ji.....

Sorry for the rant, haye

nice topic manai !!!

1) Do you think boys and girls are treated equal??

- depends...most families these days treat both equally but there are still a lot of families which differentiate between the two genders

2) why or why not?

- its mostly because of what society thinks...honour is one the most valuable thing to punjabis

3)Do you think it will change in the future since girls are now highly educated and working??

- yes...and i think its already changing...but there are still a lot of people that have old-school thinking 😛

4)do you think its fair?

- no...all human beings are equal and should be treated in the same way

1) Do you think boys and girls are treated equal? Well...I think it depends on the parents. For me I am treated kind of differently because my parents don't let me out that late and they do let my brothers. Like my dad he gets mad at me if I use the phone to much or go on the computer but for my brothers its kinda different. But, I thinks thats fine because that just means your parents don't want you to get hurt and they care.

I'll answer all the other questions soon. 😛

some questions you need to answer??

1) Do you think boys and girls are treated equal??

I would say NOOOOOO... the reason being... when a child is born in a punjabi family they seem to be ashamed its a girl... i noticed this when my cousins bachi was born... no news was past on to everyone like it normally is when a child is being born.. and that was becuase the baby was a girl... i mean if i was a girl yea... *shush everyone* what would it feel like when u were told when u was older that ur parents was ashamed of u when u was born an still maybe are... like ok a girl gets sent away but she is there for a good 20 years... and some parents beat their kudi an keep their munda very happy only reason to that is becuase he can continue the name on... i mean ok the name gets lived on but some people only have girls... what happens then they dont just forget about the girl doo they.... i swear punjabis have wrong thinking... a girl is meant to be a princess na... not some peice of dirt that just been born...... it should be exactly the same like today girls work, girl do this girls doo that girls earn more than guys dooo... they sooo sucessful... but still people doo this tooo parriyan all around the world... i mean girls are not bad na... i mean if i had a baby girl i would treat her the same as if i had a baby boy..... after all mere he bache hune ya... an id be proud of the girl utna as if i was proud of the guy........ people will only notice these things if they see it happening or hear about things.... but most choose to ignore it... this is one thing i think the western living is better becuase they learn what pyaar is.... compared to others well im just saying from what i have seen only... not everyone....you probs know what im ratling on about tho... but o well..

2) why or why not?

because it is just unfair... a long time ago girls couldnt leave the house an this n that.. kept home forever like until the day they are married... an guys are allowed to go out do this do that... maybe to protect girls but still if guys can dooo this n that why cant girls... should be equal na... as i said today girls work girls drive girls are even bus drivers look how big a bus is... i mean what is there that a girl cant doo today.. i mean my mum was sooo happy when she had my sisters coz i was there at the hospital... im sooo greatful that mum jii doesent dooo none of this crap...... my mum lets me work n my sister... its gud... she even lets her go out when ever her friends bday is... and also mee but sometimes i choose not to goo... thats up to me lol... but still it is equal even tho my sisters will leave the house one day but its good to keep them soo happy before they leave the reason for this... say if they dont have a good life there... atleast they had one wonderful life when they lived with their parents brothers sisters etc.... its better seeing them happy na... than crying everyday that their parents never liked her an liked a guy... i mean where are peoples hearts... they seem sooo selfish towards girls being born..... i mean i respect both girls an guys... an yes they should be the same.... maybe cannot stop the leaving the doli thing coz thats been going on for 1000z of years... but a sisters and that should alwayz keep them in ur heart... an alwayz happy for sure... dont matter at all jiiiiiiii if u have fights with ur sisters n that who cares na... u will only know when she gets married rather have a better happy life for them now....... i mean if u put urself in a girls position that has been through so much... e.g. parents wasnt good, inlaws wasnt, husband wasnt good...... an imagine what she must of gone through but kept going on n on n on.... and if that might have happened to a guy say... he would cope totally differently start drinking etc or what ever......

3)Do you think it will change in the future since girls are now highly educated and working??

Will it change! ill say NOOOO not when punjabi type rules are around... in punjab its impossible to change these things becuase its the way they think... they want a waris an they would doo anything i hear stories that people kill their kudi as soon as its born... 😕 i mean OMG how bad can people get na... gosh i swear i would slapppppppp people if they was to dooo harm.....on the education side yea... maybeeeee but its hard to say.. but the old age thats a no no for sure ji... just imagine ur dad was like OMG its a girl ewwwwwww when u was born man gosh...... ........ man dil hi totjao ga sareya da naa........ but i know none of that has happened to people here which is really gud..... 😛 hope it happens to no one...... saachi...rab ji needs to give people akal man..... serious....

4)do you think its fair?

as i said above it is not fair at all ji.... ! just imagine ur life in a girls eyes.. who has seen an felt this sort of pain.... and only then people will understand... but then agen this worlds messed up an crap ufff... meanieeeeeee world jiii.... the only thing is... u urself can keep things the right way.... 😛

i hope you enjoy and discuss your heart out!

manai wonderful topic yaar... 😛

sorry a little edit.......

i said punjabi na... but yes simran jii it can be everyone... 😛
