Guess Who?
While the country is reeling under a severe cash crunch that followed in the wake of the demonetisation announcement by the Prime Minister recently, and those with undeclared wealth are mourning the loss of value in their currency stashes, there is this director who is more upset with financial blows that have nothing to do with Rs.500 or Rs.1,000 notes.
The reason is that a pretty high-profile film that was recently launched with much fanfare and publicity (not to mention, at great expense) has been quietly given an unannounced burial by this director's producers, who don't find the project viable any more. While having one's film shelved is tragedy enough for any filmmaker, this particular case has been even more injurious for the director as he had invested his own money for the substantial expenses already incurred on the film's multiple launch events and preliminary shoots.
At that time, the director was confident this was just a temporary depletion of his bank balance, which would be made good when his producers transferred the production funds for the main shoot. But now, with the film's fate as bright' as that of the Rs.1,000 note in your pocket, the director is wondering whether he will ever see his money again.
Well, given this particular director's history of accumulating signing amounts, perhaps there may be karma at play in this sad story!
