Hi everyone so I want to tell you all I do not give anyone permission to post my story in other places. As I Have had stories stolen before. I will update as soon as I can.
This story will be told in two parts this is part one.
Part one is rather light.
Not as dark as part two.
But with all darkness we need some light.

Chapter one
Dev could hear the cattle crying out. They were not used to the new fence. He had built it last week when the reports warned them of the storm.
He changed his pants and went outside. It was not unusual for the men in the field to work without their shirts. He smiled at the girls who looked at him and greeted them as he walked passed them.
"Dev when will you get married?" Sangya asked him. She was one of the older women that worked on the farm.
All of the younger girls let out giggles.
"Let's get married Dev" One of them squealed. He frowned at her.
"No" He said shaking his head.
"Why not I am the prettiest girl in the entire Boo village"
"You stay away from Dev?"
"What you are too small to get married. You stay away from him. You creep"
When they became engrossed fighting with each other Dev made his exit. Shaking his head and looking at them.
"Pick one of us Dev!" A bunch of other girls called out. Cornering him.
"Wait I will choose one, The one with the widest hips, will be good for breeding now all of you show me your hips" He said they all bent down. He began to run away. As they could not see him bending down.
"Dev wait. Dev" They screamed. Dev cursed his luck and tried to hide in the corn fields.
"Dead body!" They screamed suddenly he turned and noticed a girl lying on the found unconscious.
They all ran to his side and held him.
"Dev who is she? What if she is dead?"
"I am scared" They screamed.
"Be quiet" He said, pushing their hands away.
He bent down and turned her around. He pushed her hair back, she had a huge wound on her head. But she was breathing.

Dev carried and took the girl to the doctor. An older woman who lived on the other side of the farm next to the quarry.
"What is going on?" His friend Kishu asked him. He peered over his shoulder and saw the girl on the bed.
"So pretty" He said.
"Who me?" One of the girls who followed Dev asked.
"No you have a flat face, who is she? The beautiful one who lies on the bed" Dev stood up blocking his view.
"How is she?" He asked the doctor.
"She probably won't survive" The doctor said standing up.
"Do you mean she will die? You can't let her die doctor please do something" He begged.
"She needs to be given these medications" The women said.
There was no cars available, Dev realized.
It would take a day to go by foot to the city.
"Even with those medications she needs to be taken care off for 24 hours constantly every hour she needs to be given the medicines, most importantly she needs prayer. Only a miracle can save her"
"We will do it, uncle manu please lend me one your horses" Dev said.
The older man nodded.
"I will be back until then look after her" With one of the horses he could be back by three.

"Please Bolenath, save her" He said when he passed the old Shiv Mandir.

"The medicine will only work to its capacity. It is impossible to say she might survive. She has been hit pretty badly on her head, the temperature is dropping I don't think she will make the night here. She needs to be somewhere with a heater" The doctor told him.
Dev bent down and picked her up.
"Give me her medicine" He ordered. The older women gave it to him.

He took her inside his house.
"Kishu take this go ask the boss for gas" He said handing him the last of his money. He was going to use it for food. But he had already spent most of it on the girl. He had to make her better. He would starve he did not care. As long as she got better.

All of the girls visited him during the time he looked after the girl. Even the old doctor made a visit.
Kishu often brought him food and water. He was grateful to him. Even the old Boss had been kind enough to say he did not have to work as he looked after her.
"If her fever goes down, she will be healed" She said touching her head.
Please Bolenath save her, take years off my own life save her. Nobody deserves to die like this. He prayed silently.

Then one morning. He touched her hand and was about to wipe her brow. Her skin was cool.
Picking her up. He went outside.
The crowd that had gathered outside his small house, shouted out happily as he smiled at them victoriously. He stumbled and Kishu came behind him and held him.
"Dev are you ok?" he asked him.
He took her back inside and sent Kishu to call the old doctor.
"She will wake up soon. You saved her" She said smiling at Dev.

Dev was asleep on the floor. When he woke up she was no longer there. He looked around and saw her awake standing outside the window.
He followed her as she walked.
When she stumbled he quickly held her steady.
His heart thundered as she looked into his eyes and said.
"I am thirsty" In a soft sweet voice.
She was incredibly beautiful.
He blinked several times to try and gather his thoughts and say something to her.
He helped her sit down. And went to get her some water.
She drank it quickly. And held out the cup again.
"Can I have some more?" She asked again her voice was childlike.
He poured another cup and when he asked her if she wanted some more she shook her head.
"Where is this?" She asked starring out at the fields.
"This is Boo farm, you are in Boo village" he answered.
"How did I get here?" She asked.
"I found you unconscious in the fields" He answered.
"Why was I unconscious?" She asked her eyes wide.
"I don't know either, but I think perhaps during the storm something happen. What is your name?" He asked her. She looked confused at him.
"I don't know" She said softly.
"How can you not know your own name? What do you remember" he asked confused.
She began to shake her head.
"You remember nothing?"
She began to hold her head and wince.
"I don't remember anything why can't I remember? I don't know who I am, what happen to my head?" She asked noticing the bandage.
"You have injured your head, maybe that's why you can't remember anything"
"Really?"
"Yes, don't be too worried now" he told her with a smile.
"What is your name then?" She asked him.
"My name is Dev" He said.
"It must be good to know your name"
"How about this, since you don't know your name, I will give you one for now" He told her.
He looked around trying to gather inspiration.
Seeing a poster Kishu had of Rani Mukerjee.
"How about Rani?" He asked.
She scrunched her nose and shook her head cutely.
He looked around and then up at the sky.
"Aasma?" He asked.
She shook her head again. Then he smiled remembering the first time he had seen her she had been wearing a gold dress.
"Sona?" She smiled.
And walked towards him. Until she was only centimeters away.
"I like this name" She said saying it softly to herself and smiling.
He smiled.
"You were found in a corn field that's golden, and when I found you. You were wearing a gold dress. So Sona it is"

Dev went around the farm.
"Sona is awake" He shouted to everyone as he passed.
"Doctor Sona is awake" The doctor and Kishu looked at each other confused.
"Who is Sona?" They asked.

Dev took her to meet the rest of the villagers.
She was a little afraid and tried to hide behind him and held onto the back of his shirt.
He pulled her out to stand beside him, she held onto his arm tightly.
Her eyes wide with fright.
"Don't be scared Sona, this is the doctor" He said.
"I am scared" She whispered.
"Don't worry I am with you" he said making her sit next to the doctor. Who leaned into look at her," Sona grabbed his hand with both of hers.
"Let me see" The doctor said and held her chin. Sona tried to move out of her reach.
"Hold still, now open your mouth" Sona held her mouth closed tighter.
"Do as she says" Dev told her softly. She begrudgingly opened her mouth.
"Stick your tongue out" Sona did it.
"You were unconscious for more than a week and with the weather it was impossible to go to the hospital, without passage. But you have survived this is no less than a miracle. Now look here girl if Dev did not look after you. You would be dead"
The villagers were all quiet.
"She is going to live!" Kishu screamed excitedly.
"We need to celebrate" All of the villagers screamed with jubilation.

All the villagers were dancing. Sona sat beside Dev who was clapping as the rest of the village danced and rejoiced.
Sona held onto his hand every time someone tried to speak to her.
"Don't be scared this is a celebration to welcome you Sona" Dev said touching her hand.
She nodded.
One of the village men held out a basket of apples.
"Eat a lot girl you have not eaten in days" He said. Sona nodded.
As time went by everyone began to give her fruits and vegetables.
"Dev can I eat these?" She asked innocently.
"Sure you can all of these are for you" he said smiling at her.
Sona grabbed a grape and ate it, then she took an apple and bit it, then she quickly picked up peach and bit into it. Then repeated the process, then she saw a banana and pointed she wanted it, Dev handed it to her and she peeled it and took a bite.
The old boss came and smiled at her.
"Today we celebrate the recovery of this child, may all ill luck leave her and she be blessed to be happy always" He said. He came towards her. Sona looked at Dev confused.
Dev took the fruits out of her hand.
The old boss touched her head and blessed her.
Everybody one by one came to wish Sona well. Dev was last. He bent down and she suddenly looked up.
Whenever she looked him in the eye he ceased to think. He blinked a few times then moved away.
Sona seemed not even the slightest bit fazed and smiled brightly at him. He smiled back and shook his head.
One of the villagers, called Dev to dance he went with them. Sona saw all of them away and went towards the fruit and started eating again.
Dev could not help but laugh she was just like a child.
"You eat like a kid" Dev said walking towards her, he wiped her mouth as it was messed with something.
"Dev come here" The old doctor called him, he went to her.
"I will give you some medicines tomorrow give them to her three times a day"
"What kind of medicines?"
"Health supplements"
"Do you have any brain tonics?"
"Why?"
"She doesn't remember anything" Dev said.
"How did you know her name?" The old boss asked, he had joined them.
"I named her"
"Perhaps with time she will slowly remember after a while"
"Dev you can't let her out of your sight it would be dangerous for her here" He warned him.
"You are right" Dev said.

The next morning Dev woke up early and made Sona's medicine.
"Sona come here" He called her. She sat down on the side of his bed. Which was now hers.
"Drink this" He said.
"I won't it smells bad" She said shaking her head.
"No excuses, drink it now all of it" He told her. Sona drink it.
Her cheeks were full.
"Swallow it" She shook her head.
And spat it on him.
Dev stood up. And looked at her angrily.
"I am sorry" She said holding her hands together to him.
He went to the bath room and pulled of his shirt. Sona came inside.
"Why did you come inside? I am having a bath" he asked annoyed.
"I want to have one too. Let's have one together" Sona said.
"A man and women cannot bath together" He said shaking his head at her.
"Why can't they?" Sona asked her hands going to her hips.
"Women have..." Dev turned red. And cursed under his breath how was he going to explain this to her.
"Why not?" She asked coming closer to him confused.
"Women and men have different bodies that's why" He let out.
"How different?" Sona asked.
Dev rolled his eyes.
"Different means different now go back into the room" He told her.
She shook her head.
"If you don't go back inside you are going to get sick again. Then you have to take bitter medicne" Dev lied.
Her eyes grew wide and her mouth formed and o shape.
"Do you want it?" He asked her.
"No" She said shaking her head.
"Then go" he said. She turned around.
He let out a breath in relief.
"Dev?" She said startling him. Just when he began to relax.
"Go" He said again she pouted and closed the door.

"Dev are you mad at me?" Sona asked him when he came into the room. And quietly just got his pillow. He had been avoiding her all day.
"No" He said. And laid his pillow on the floor.
"Then why won't you look at me?" she asked him.
"Just go to sleep" Dev said wanting to avoid her unending questions.
"I am not sleepy" Sona said shaking her head.
"Even if you are not sleepy you must sleep" He said.
"Why do I have to sleep?" Sona asked him sitting down near where he had laid down and leaning towards his face.
"You will get better faster if you sleep" Dev said.
"What does sleeping a lot have to do with getting better?" Sona asked confused.
"Why do you ask so many questions?" Dev asked frustrated.
"Because I don't understand"
"Well I don't know all of the elders here say these things so we should listen to them" He said.
"Why did the elders..."
Dev stood up.
"Please stop asking so many questions. GO SLEEP NOW" He said irritated.
"Why??" Sona asked him pouting.
"No. Just go sleep" He said pointing at his bed.
Sona went quietly to the bed and laid down.
"But Dev..."
"No. Be quiet. But the blanket on and turn the other way and sleep. SLEEP CLOSE YOUR EYES AND SLEEP" Sona scrambled quickly and turned the other way.

"I need more shifts. You know I am a good worker I need to get enough to buy the room next to mine for Sona" Dev said to the old boss the next morning.
Sona began to shout from inside. He ran inside. She was having a nightmare.
He grabbed her and shook her.
"Wake up Sona you are having a nightmare"
"Help me Dev. They are chasing me. I am scared"
"Who is chasing you?"
"I don't know help me"
"Sona look, you are here with me you are safe no one can take you away I won't let them" He said cupping her cheeks, her breathing began to normalize and she calmed down.
"Hi there Sona" Kichu said coming inside. Sona screamed.
"Who's that?" She asked scared.
"That's my friend Kichu, there is no need to be scared come lets go for a walk you will feel better" Dev introduced.
"Yes no need to be scared pretty Sona, I am the handsome Kichu. I am sure Dev speaks of me"
Sona shook her head. Kichu gave Dev a dirty look.
Sona walked holding Dev's hand.
"You need to be careful here" Dev said helping her over some stones.
Kichu leaned near her.
"Walk carefully dear you may fall...in love with me that is" He said, Dev went inbetween them.
"What is up with you Dev?" Kichu said pouting.
"If you don't stop speaking Kichu, I will make you fall too" Dev told him.
"What fall for a guy my friend?" He asked laughing.
"Fall into your grave" He told him walking towards him, He tripped backwards and fell into the sand.
"You ugly guy, you are just jealous of me" Kichu said, Sona giggled at his chubby body all in the sand.

"I have gathered some clothing for her" The old doctor said handing them to Dev. Who gave them to Sona.
Sona picked out a bra and held it out.
"What is this for?" She asked.
"Oh wait I know" And covered her eyes with it.
The older aunties laughed and corrected her. Dev shook his head.
"Tell them thank you" He told her in her ear.
"Thank you" She told them.

Sona was walking strangely she kept crossing her legs and waving her hands around. As she walked back with him home.
"Are you feeling sick?" He asked her, she pursed her lips.
And shook her head.
"I really need to pee" She let out.
"What?" Dev asked his eyes wide.
"I NEED TO PEE" Sona repeated.
"Can you not wait till we get home?"
Sona shook her head.
"Come on" Dev said pulling her hand.
"No I can't its coming out" Sona said.
"Wait come here go behind this tree you can make it" He said guiding her.
He went out the other side to give her privacy.

Ritwick smirked as all of the villagers came to see him. He jumped off his jeep.
"Come one and all I have gifts for everyone" He said and handed out items to everyone.

"Why is she taking so long" Dev wondered.
"Sona?"
He called out but she did not answer.

Sona was confused she walked out into the open. It was really hot. She began to feel dizzy and fell to the floor. Where was Dev?

Dev went to the tree he had left her by but she was nowhere in sight.

Ritvik was walking in the fields and saw a girl unconscious he walked towards her.
He picked her up.
"DEV HELP ME" The man grabbed her.
Dev ran towards them and pulled Sona behind him.
"What are you doing Ritvik?" He asked him.
"Is this your wife?" He asked looking at Sona lewdly.
"No"
"Then who is she?" He asked.
Dev had always stayed away from Ritvik, he was one of the boys that left Boo village to join the Rising gang. Men who joined the gang often came back rich and but often disappeared after a while.
Dev slowly explained everything to him. Sona had begun to hide behind Dev.
"You really don't know who she is and you are feeding her and letting her mooch of you for free" Ritvik said shaking his head.
"Yes I found Sona unconscious, when she woke up she did not remember anything" Dev said to him.
Ignoring his comments.
"Poor thing" He said after a minute and tried to look at her but Sona hid behind Dev using him as a shield to avoid Ritvik's gaze.
"My god she is practically a child" He said shocked.
"Well if you need my help let me know" He said smiling. Dev nodded.
Ritvik left.
"Are you scared of Ritvik?" Dev asked her smiling.
Sona nodded.
"Does he live here?" She asked pouting.
"No he comes here to visit his mother every month" Dev said.

"Boss why are you smiling?" One of Ritviks underhand asked him.
"I found a sister in law for you boys" he said laughing.
