I have been saying it since Dev and Sona's marriage that if you let your spouse (be it husband or wife) keep taking decisions on your behalf without discussing it with you, don't complaint if he/she continues to take you for granted.
The only person who can stop you for being taken for granted is YOU.
Today's dialogues were much more impactful and meaningful in Dev and Sona's relationship and her place in Dixit house.
Dev to Sona: I don't have to discuss with YOU before taking decisions for MY family.
Me: I thought a wife IS a husband's family. But then Sona, whatever you think you are, you are definitely not Dev's family. The sooner you get it the better.
Dev to Sona: I don't have to discuss every little thing before taking decisions about my family.
Me: You certainly don't need to IF you were living in a separate house. But since your wife is living with YOUR family, you certainly have to discuss if your decision is impacting her. Besides, it's quite disturbing to see that taking away a whole family's earnings and livelihood is a small matter for you.
Neha to Sona: Sorry Bhabhi, you must be feeling so bad that Bhai agreed to give Ranveer's job back when I said it but he didn't agree when you said it.
Sona: No no Neha, I love Dev as he is. I don't want to change him. But I am glad that you are caring for Ranveer and his family.
Me: Sona, stop turning into Ishwari and lying to yourself. If you were the kind of person who love Dev's ruthless disregard for a family's livelihood because he hates just one family member, then I am sorry, you are not the Sonakshi Bose who entered this family.
Ishwari didn't send you to your family because she cares for your happiness, but to keep the outsider out while they sort out the insider's business.
There are two ways to fight a battle, a clean way and a dirty way. Dev is fighting it the dirty way by hitting below the belt.
Whether Ranveer is right or wrong, that is debatable. But his family is not wrong and they should not suffer.
But either way, you might as well give up now because no one wants to hear or for that matter care what you have to say. You tried to fix everything. That didn't happen. Now let them arrange their own funeral.
You see, you tried to help the family you thought as your own. But because Dev himself assigned you outside the family circle, today even Neha showed you where you stand in the family.
That's what I keep saying. A husband doesn't have to fight the wife's battle. But he has to stand by his wife regardless whether he believes or agrees with her or not. Just like Sona stood up by Dev even though she was unhappy with his decision. It's called showing an UNITED FRONT against everyone else even if that's against your family.
Sona continuously stood up by Dev against her own family. When he decided to change honeymoon plans without talking to her, even today when Neha reminded her how Dev quickly agreed to what she was saying but refused to listen when Sona said the same thing.
Sona even said it in Friday's episode that she never dreamt of a Prince Charming rescuing her, but just keep feeding her paratha to make her strong so that she can fight her own battles.
That means that when a husband (or wife) emotionally nurture their spouse with love and support, they can fight their own battles.
I have been saying it ever since their marriage which Sonakshi finally said.
Sona to Mama: Why don't you talk to Dev and Ishwari?
Mama: When it comes to Neha, they become deaf and dumb.
Me: And Mama is smart enough to know where he stands. You don't.
Sona's homecoming scene was the eye opening of her true family.
While Ishwari and Radha got relieved the unwanted pest left (Ishwari was also kind of annoyed that Nikki was missing the pest), Sona's family got delighted that their cherished daughter came home.
When Neha came home, her mother sat with her once and then let her suffer while she kept running after Dev. Ishwari only paid any attention to Neha when she got upset. Rest of the time, she was happy to ignore her existence. She is surely making up for lost time.
When Sona came home, Asha kept asking if she came after fighting with Dev. She was truly concerned for her daughter's marriage. However, made her feel equally welcome at her own home along with everyone in the family.
Which one do you think anyone would consider a family?
Anyways, moving on Dev starts missing Sona.
Dev found Sona's note: What is this outsider? You are Mrs. Dixit, my wife. Not an outsider.
Me: Ummm really? Your action kind of contradicts your words, you know that? When you differentiate between your wife and your family, that doesn't make her feel like an insider.
Bose family bonding was like fresh air after stale, toxic air.
Dev to Ishwari: Maa, this is also her family naa?
Me: Oh yeah, Sonakshi gets so much love and respect in your family that she feels as if she is living with her own. In fact when you visit Bose family and observe how a family member should be treated. So that you can truly compare the situation in both house.
Mamaji to Dev: Feel shy when it's neighbour's wife.
Me: Aha aha, you have taken the words out of my mouth. Yep, what's so wrong about missing one's own wife?
Precap:
Dev to Sona: I have come to take my wife home.
Sona to Dev: I am at my home.
Me: See, that's the problem your sister went through that also your wife is going through. If after marriage a woman doesn't feel cherished in her husband's family, then it's not the woman's failure, it's the husband and his family's failure.
You punished Ranveer for that crime of not keeping his promise to your sister, tell me Dev, what should be your punishment that Saurabh should assign for you?
EDITED:
Today sia.krpkab brought up the point of Mirror in her post. She made some very good point. Here's another thing I found significant today following up on her point.. Sona has always been Dev's mirror to reality. She was the one who always put things into perspective and provided much needed clarity of thoughts when Dev's brain failed to go beyond his past experiences and upbringing.
