@jaya Sita would have gone if he had told her. But then she would have been another Shanta. Forgotten. She wouldn't have been able to question that ethos that banished her.Neither would have luv-kush because it was their mother's decision to do so. Even we wouldn't have questioned Ram, if Sita had taken the decision and there are versions which tell it is Sita who walks away. Because Sita walking away would have made it dharma, but Ram doing it made it adharma. When Sita walks away also it is the acceptance of society verdict that she is impure and yes it will continue to be that. Because she accepted the fate of being the woman and the double standard rules the society set for her. Unilateral made Sita question and he changed the rules for future generation and people accepted it. Because we all have perceptions. Deep rooted perceptions. You have, I have and the most difficult aspect is to break the perception. Yes he took unilateral decision, But he expected people to act against it. Problem of hypocrisy is that unlike straight adharma, hypocrisy has the garb of dharma while doing adharma. Just like our present society where rape victim is blamed and the criminal gets away. Terrorists get human right activists to protect their rights while innocent civilians are blown up in the blast
Juvenile of Nirbhaya got away with 3 years imprisonment because the law said so. Judge couldn't do anything. But the incident forced the law amendment
Govindachamy will not hang because it is not enough for the court he raped a half alive woman on railway tracks , because they feel she simply jumped from the train and he didn't push her. A woman runs in the train to protect her honor, this man rams her head against the door of the train and even if she had jumped to protect her honor who was responsible for it. Well it doesn't matter the defense lawyer can make it look like the girl simply jumped
Justice, the door of justice will open only when brutal adharma happens in the name of dharma and the collective conscience rises demanding punishment for the guilty which happened after Nirbhaya, which happened after Uri. That adharma alone will help us correct the flaws in the society and move forward.
Ram did the adharma which the society termed dharma, gave right to Sita to act and then corrected it. His success itself is that we question him not Sita, while in MB Panchali is questioned always and told she bought the war. She could have forgiven.
I am a woman who knows what emotional blackmail means so that decision suiting the patriarchy is taken and even the right to question is taken away from you. If you question it is called audacity. If not for BG I knew from the age of 8 I wouldn't have survived the mental harassment I had got from childhood.
