Part 3

"Bhai... Bhai." Vasu knocked on the door.
Her knock brought Mrityunjay back to present. He opened the door.

"What happened Bhai? Why have you closed the door? Mom is calling you since the past hour to come and see what you are going to give tomorrow to your in-laws," she said in one breath.

"Okay, I am coming."

"Come fast." Saying this, she left.

Mrityunjay carefully kept the letters in the diary and kept it on the table as if it was never moved from there.

"Come son. See what we have purchased for your first visit to Tara's house tomorrow." Nirmala was showing Mrityunjay the gifts that he would have to give to his in-laws.

Mrityunjay was least interested in what Nirmala was showing him. His mind was still in the letters and now mainly on Yug. He was praising Yug's luck, who Tara chose to love. She was now his wife and loves him. But it was not the love which Tara chose; it was her duty to love the person to whom she was married. She was fulfilling her duty as a good wife and daughter-in-law. "She loves me but I am not the man who she chose." Mrityunjay was in his own world thinking about the letters.

"Mrityunjay, so tell me if there is anything left to be done. If anything is left then I would try to get it," Nirmala said wrapping up the things.

Mrityunjay was still lost in his thoughts when Nirmala tapped him on the shoulder.

"Mrityunjay, I am talking to you. My son, where are you lost?"

"U...h...nothing... Mom... nothing..." Saying this, he moved from there.

Tara, who was standing at a distance with Vasu arranging the dinner table, saw this.
"What happened to him?" she murmured.

Mrityunjay, after going into the room, slammed the door. The more he was trying not to think about those letters, the more he was thinking about it.

"How can Yug deny her love? She waited for his reply for three years. But he didn't say a word. It's true, the one who gets the diamond doesn't value it."

"I was Yug's friend, we were bench partners. But I never saw Tara watching him."

"I had seen them talking, laughing and playing together like any other classmates. They never showed as if there was something going on between them."

He sat on the rocking chair and was getting more and more immersed in old memories.

"We went many times to Yug's house to do a project but I never found anything unusual between them. It was always normal."

"Congrats Tara, we did it," said Yug, almost hugging Tara after the project presentation was over.
"Congrats to you too."

"Mrityunjay, didn't you see their closeness when they congratulated each other?" asked his alter ego. "They looked so happy together."
He was quiet at this question.

He was resting his body in the chair but his heart was restless.
"How come I didn't notice them?"

"After college, when I was asked to select a girl for marriage I first proposed Tara's name. It was not that I had a crush on her but from college days I admired her. She was the only girl in my opinion fit to be ideal as a wife. Before the marriage proposal, we were good friends but after keeping the marriage proposal in front of her family, I was falling for her and her acceptance to this relationship made me completely hers. Before marriage, our late night talks...aha...that was the time when I came to know what a beautiful a girl she was. We talked every night but not during a single conversation had she ever hinted that she loved someone else."

He stopped rocking his chair and went near the window to feel the cool breeze of the night but the thought that Tara loved Yug was not leaving him.

He slammed his hands on the wall.
"Why am I thinking about this? It was her past ... I am her present... Many have affairs before marriage...college time affairs... So it doesn't matter if Tara too had."
From the evening, he had tried to convince himself by saying these lines many times but not for a single time he was able to convince himself.

"Mrityunjay." Tara hugged him from behind.

"Is everything fine?" she said turning him to face her.

"Nothing," he replied.

But his facial expressions were clearly saying something was going on inside him.

"Come let's have dinner. Everyone is waiting for you."

He quietly moved out of the room.

"What is going on inside him? I will ask him after dinner. I am his friend and wife, I have the right to share his worry." Thinking this, Tara followed Mrityunjay.

Mrityunjay quietly had his dinner without saying a word on the dinner table and immediately after dinner, he went to his room. After finishing all work, Tara went inside her room.

Mrityunjay was sleeping. Tara went near him and kissed on his forehead. Mrityunjay opened his eyes to see her.

"Mrityunjay is anything worrying you? Tell me, I am first your friend then your wife."

"Problem is that first, you are my friend and then my wife. Who loved my best friend and I never came to know about it," he thought and turned his face away from her.

"Mrityunjay... Mrityunjay..." She tried to turn him to face her.

"Tell me what happened... Please. I can't bear your silence. Your silence hurts me Mrityunjay. Please tell me what happened."

A tear trickled from the corner of her eye and fell on Mrityunjay's cheek.

He knew his behaviour was not appropriate. Whatever he read was Tara past, not her present. She had not for a single moment failed to be a dutiful wife. His heart knew all this but his mind was acting stubborn and was refusing to forget about those love letters. In the fight between mind and heart, mind won and he didn't respond to her.

For Tara, Mrityunjay's silence was heart-wrenching. She slept crying after many failed attempts to make him talk.

Mrityunjay's mind is not in a good condition and he is doubting Tara's love now!!!!😔 😔 😔 😔

He is thinking that Tara had never chosen him and only loves him as she is his wife and it is her duty!!!!

He actually thinks Yug is so lucky as Tara had chosen him, is he crazy??

Tara notices everything about Mrityunjay and noticed that he had no interest in the preparations for the visit to his in-laws' house!!!!

He is recalling his old memories but he had never noticed anything different between Yug and Tara!!!!

But the idiot cannot seen to be able to remember Tara blushing or smiling at him!!!!

So Mrityunjay had only thought of Tara as a friend and only fell for her after their wedding was fixed!!!😛 😛 😛 😛 😊 😊 😊 😊

But Tara had loved him for so long and wanted to see the same love in his eyes!!!!❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Mrityunjay is trying to convince himself that it was Tara's past and he is her present but can't!!!!

hi.. I feel happy to be the 1st to respond on it, Must say thanks for PM SO i know there is new update coming in.

see no matter how great lover he is or she is.. when doubt comes in it does bring rift b/w them. I know he will read more and will know that actually that lucky guy wasn't someone else, it was him and he was so dumb to never notice it. he recalled his memory thinking he never notice something different but he never noticed her blushing or smiling or acting differently toward him. when u r in love u do look different when u are with the one u love..

any ways Nice progress, looking fw to hear the rest of it.

First of all thanks for the PM Archu... 🤗
I am such a lazy reader though you always send PM after every update 😛

Basically MJ's condition was horrible ...
He was thinking Tara never chose him as love of her life...
Now, she was loving him as she is his wife
He thought Yug is so lucky

So, next day they were going to Tara's home .
But MJ had no interest in that 🥱

Tara had also noticed it.
MJ just thought all things about Yug and Tara.
Never he thought about he was also there 😕
He got the point that they were nothing more than classmates but his ego said they were happy 😒 😒 😒

So MJ never thought about Tara more than a friend .
He had fallen for her after their marriage was fixed 😊

Now, got the point why MJ couldn't understand it was only him 😛
He never noticed Tara like Tara used to notice him.
He cared for her as a good friend 😊

MJ couldn't convince himself saying it was only Tara's past
He also didn't responded to Tara as she was expecting 😔
She knew something was wrong with him...

And finally MJ brusted out his thought 😳
Tara hadn't any clue what he said
And he didn't answer to her 😒 😒 😒

Situation was become so complicated
MJ knew he was not doing really right but he also couldn't hide his own frustration
Poor Tara was crying 😔

I don't know how MJ will make up to Tara for this behavior 😆
