No they don't I went to Pakistan Kashmir side 2 years back, they all have proper houses, school etc. The infrastructure is slow due to as our government is corrupted but it's getting there. The tourisim there is blooming, so many people go and visit the valley during summers.
Lucky Pakistan! The people of POK are probably much nicer than the scoundrels in Indian Kashmir. The Army has done so much for them and yet they are cahoots with the militants and do everything to harm not just the Army but their own state. All those ungrateful wretches would have drowned in the floods 2 years back, hadn't the Army gone out of its way to rescue them!
The Indian Government has pumped in millions of dollors to promote tourism there, but the youth of Kashmir would rather waste their time being rebels than earn their living through honest means.
They want the army to leave, but the Kashmiri's themselves know that the moment the Army vacates Kashmir, militancy will take over the entire state.
And there is no question of giving up Kashmir or making it independent. It doesn't belong to the people currently living there only. What about the Kashmiri Pandits who were either massacred or thrown out by the Muslim majority? Kashmir belongs to them too and they very likely want to return to their homeland some day.
