It was absolutely impossible... he knew that hiring employees wasn't under his job description there was a huge HR department for it... but in all his years of working for this organization it never went unnoticed to him that someone was hired or fired... He being the Head of Finance would be informed and the procedure strictly required his signatures!!

He was beyond furious on his subordinates for not informing him and missing such a minor instruction which were given to them on the very day of their joining... So without thinking twice he called for a meeting with the HR and Finance department staff in an hour...

Taking a deep breath, he took the file which was supposed to be signed by Sir and walked towards the MD's cabin... The cabin was huge with glass walls surrounding it... it had minimum furniture which consists of a couch at the corner and the huge table at the centre with few chairs... it had a single wall which consisted of files a huge LCD and few books... This was designed when Sir took the position as the MD of this company.

"Excuse me sir"

The man opposite him nodded for him to continue still working in his Pc..

"Sir these files require your signatures..." forwarding the files "and sir..."

"Just a second Adi..."

He picked up his extension and called someone to his cabin... there was a soft knock and the person walked in her heals clicking on the wooden floor... and then it clicked him, if there was any other person who could appoint someone without any formalities it was the MD himself!

He broke his gaze from the shy girl to the man behind the desk who was leaning back in his chair and smirking at him.. so casually

"Adi.."

"Sir!" He spoke under his breath not liking the way things are going

"This is Pinky... "

"Maan!" The girl exclaimed in a winning tone and quickly corrected herself "I mean Sir, I'm Priyanka Manchanda please to meet you" the girl said turning towards me... I was beyond shocked to see the girl acting as if she was meeting me for the first time...

"So Adi she is our new receptionist there would be a slight alteration in her working hours and her file will be on your table in 10 min?" Sir asked turning towards the girl to which she nodded

"You may leave"

When the girl left Sir turned all serious with his smile evaporated like it never existed...

"Adi Pinky is someone very close to me, cook up some story and make sure all her college expenses are payed from my personal account if there is anything else I need to know... make sure I'm informed immediately!"

"Right Sir!"

Handing the now signed files he dismissed Adi and resumed working... Confused... frustrated and angry he made my way towards his cabin... yes he had a cabin not as big as sir's but huge enough to accommodate tons of files two huge safes and a LCD... he didn't want any personal space in his cabin so he requested the couch to be replaced with a small coffee table, when sir had something Informal to discuss with him they would often do it here... at times he felt sir liked his working space more..

Before entering his cabin he glanced at the reception desk to find The girl attending some phone calls and doing her work effortlessly and her hands busy unwrapping a chocolate bar... with a sigh he entered his cabin only to be reminded of the meeting he called for... now that he had his answers he thought to make the most of the meeting which was long pending owing his busy schedule

As the day was about to end and everyone started to leave he thought it was perfect time for him to to talk to sir regarding the developments of their new branch and also something unofficial if he wasn't busy that is..

Before he could make a move he saw sir walking towards his cabin talking to someone on his phone... so he just waited for him to finish the call and for the further instructions...

He understood that the call would continue for a little longer so he called the office boy to send two coffees to his cabin before leaving for the day and also mentioning one was for sir!... coz he knows the very few things sir was particular about and his coffee defiantly added to the list!

Sipping his coffee sir patiently waited for me to finish my work... this was something I respected him most for...

"So Adi regarding the new branch I would be operating from there for a while now and as usual I want all the junior staff to be fresh interns" he said once i got free from the file

"Yes sir," i said unsurely

"What is it Adi?" he said calmly giving space for me to voice out my opinion

"Sir the new branch is huge and bigger than our main branch and we are to shift our main office to that branch..." he raised his brow at this ... I know he never discussed this with me or anyone but the day we finalized the deal for the place I know this is what we would be our main office sooner or later

"... then I suggest some of our experienced staff to be transfer on a temporary basis which would help us organising our working patterns!" i compleated

"Hmm... ill see into it"

Now that we were done with office related work I was more relaxed taking a sip of my coffee I pushed the file which was on my table all the while towards him... I knew he was here for that.. it was the information he asked for regarding priyanka's educational expenses ...

"Sir, the college she has applied for and the course are too expensive even with all your current savings we couldn't afford it at the moment... "

It was true sir never took a penny from the business he was doing except for his salary which was almost equal to mine... the reason which was still unknown to me...

"Sell the shares I bought last year..."

"But sir!"

"Adi!..." who was this girl and why was sir going out of his way for his employee I was already hating her for what she was unintentionally doing... taking a deep breath I continued...

"Sir, the money you lent me for my sister's wedding..." I ate my words before I could complete seeing the hurt in his eyes...

"I see... " he said after a long pause i felt him going regid and blocking all his emotions even from me

"well Mr Kasyap thanks for your time.. see you at the meeting tomorrow!" He walked off without a backward glance...

That was the first time in all those years sir has addressed him so formally!

He always knew Sir considered him as his own family and Meera, his sister was sir's best friend... Sir helped in the wedding coz he felt it was his responsibility towards his own family and now with his few words he had ruined everything ... Knowing Sir he wouldn't forget those words so easily... and would hurt himself more my suppressing everything...

In situations like these people find easier solutions like some scape goat and his conscience knew he was wrong and the chocolate eating monster had nothing to do with this but his dislike towards certain Miss Priyanka increased folds.

The weeks passed by he felt horrible each passing day for he had lost the only strength he had... Sir only talked to him if it was purely professional and absolutely necessary and he was now forever Mr Kasyap for Sir... as discussed a month back sir took few of the experienced staff including shasha and her team with him to the other branch leaving me in charge of the main office... even though this wasn't new but he felt things will never be back to its place... when he learned sir sold his shares himself and his account was also transferred to the nearest branch closer to the new office his only hope to mend things was crumbling down...

He was still processing all this information when the object constantly subjected to his wrath waltzed into his cabin

"Adi sir..."

"Yes Miss Manchanda..."

"Sir its about Maan... I mean Maan Sir!"

And that name was enough to put him to alert... something was off he sensed it off late as Sir was shutting him off and he often found himself in the company of Miss Manchanda... which was too often to be termed as coincidence...

"What about him and how close are you to call sir by his first name Miss Priyanka!?"

Her mouth opened to a complete big O before she recovered and answered him back

"Sir I've known him all my life if that answers your curiosity and I know him enough to come to you to help him out of whatever he is doing to himself... and I think u are smart enough to figure out what I'm talking about..." She was about to walk out when she stopped by the door

"And careful with your words sir someone might mistake your dislike as jealousy!"
