Rechecking the file and making sure of the figures were right he closed it shut with sleep taking over him. The clock was about to strike eight and he was sure every one might have already left for the day... usually it was our MD who left late, but at times when he was out of station or busy with other branches he wouldn't be available in the office... anyway he didn't have anyone to go home to his sister lived with him till a year back until she got married and settled with her husband and his parents were too materialistic to be bothered about his wellbeing...
Locking his cabin and sir's cabin he made his way to the security room to double check with things before he called it a day!
Not having much an appetite, he thought he would grab a burger in the nearby joint and head home but then he found himself looking for an empty table when he found one where a girl was alone and the rest of the chairs were unoccupied and she seemed almost done so without thinking much he walked to the table and the made himself comfortable.
Usually he wasn't very comfortable around girls but the one opposite to him didn't seem to bother about him so he just shrugged and started having his burger
" Umm... Hi" the girl opposite to him said meekly feeling oddly embarrassed for some reason
He cleared his throat before replying her and decided to continue his meal and walkaway quickly maybe she was waiting for someone and wanted him to leave the table...
"Well I was thinking if you didn't like the potato wafers much I could share yours..." the girl said doubtfully making him chocked... the strange girl sitting opposite him wanted to share his meal!
Maybe she was hungry not wanting to embarrass her more he pushed the try towards her which brought a huge smile on her face
"Hi... I'm Priyanka Manchanda"
"Aditya Kasyap" he answered with a genuine smile "sorry if you are waiting for someone I'll finish up quickly and leave..."
"No no that's ok I wasn't waiting for anyone the table is free... please enjoy your meal" she said looking through her phone and eating in between... boyfriend may be.. anyway he kept silent and finished his meal while she still kept tapping on her phone... when he thought to have a conversation with her his phone started ringing and seeing the caller id he could never ignore calls from this particular person he picked up
"Hello sir.."
"I've mailed you the details sir..."
"They would be around this Friday sir.."
"I'll get it done sir.."
The words from the other end must have shaken him that he shuttered before replying his eyes have gone almost glassy with a layer of tears forming
"It's my duty sir... Good night sir.."
When he cut the call he noticed the girl opposite to him was long gone with a "Thank u :)" written on the tissue... he just shrugged and left... nothing was important to him than taking that call... it's not because of the huge pay he was getting but he knew his boss from the day he stepped in to business... both of them started their career at the same time... they were there for each other without making their presence known...
The next day there was a business party he was attending with sir... who was sitting in a lone corner with a drink in his hand... while he was waiting for waiting for their client to show up so that they could head for office as they had other important things to deal with
"Adi??" The guy in his best designer clothes called him without turning his back
"Yes sir?"
"The girl was beautiful right!"
"Sorry sir ... Girl? Who sir?"
"Oh come on Adi the one you were with yesterday..."
A gasp escaped his lips in shock how did he know... he wasn't there right...
"So I was right... hmm... it was a girl..."
"Sir.." before he could continue he was cut off by him
"The client has arrived ill meet you in the office in an hour or so you head back and see if everything is under control.. I don't want any silly mistakes in the presentation..."
"Yes sir"
Few days went by and he didn't understand how was it even possible or did they know each other that well... when he walked into the office that day after his business tour with sir he was more than stunned to see her
