@Indrani, I agree, in parts.

I have always had this nagging feeling that this couple is too much like the Indian cricket team of the early 2000s. That team depended a lot on Sachin Tendulkar, ShraMan seem to always wait for destiny to get them together. Yes, I agree that they too do play a part. But many times, when the chips have really been down, I see them either giving up or giving in to others. With the exception of the Khosla track. That was one track where Shravan really took the bull by the horns - be it coming back from the airport to going against his family to represent the Tiwaris in court.

I'm not entirely certain that either Shravan or Sumo would have done something to stop the wedding, had Adi not turned out to be a douche bag (pardon my French!). If you look at their body language - shoulders drooping, eyes lost, etc. - it doesn't look like a person desperate for a way out. That's what Shravan looked like when he was sitting on his terrace the night before the final Khosla hearing. But not at the AdiMan mandap.

My other point is that I feel Sumo doesn't fight hard enough.

Maybe that's what we will see now - how despite all the odds being clearly stacked against her, Sumo still doesn't give up on ShraMan. Could this then (in some ways) be also seen as her redemption (hate that word!) track? She has been seen as a person who often acts in a self-centered manner. The despicable way Shravan is behaving and is likely to continue to behave with her in the coming episodes, it will be a test of her faith. Does she hold on to her dream, her love? If yes, how? Because there's no way Shravan's gonna make it easy for her.

Yes, they did wait for each other for 10 years. But it was really the Khosla track that brought them close. Had Khosla not happened, Shravan might have been back in London drowning his sorrow in a bottle and Sumo would be yelling her frustration away on the PCT ladies.

Destiny has always been very generous with ShraMan. My fear is - what if that changes tomorrow. Maybe now we will see these two start taking the first step?

@Anu, @ Mona...
Let me get back to the time when Shravan was returning to London...he preponed his London trip because of Chachi...as he said to Sumo that he would have left anyways...
He was leaving...Destiny intervened...the news of his father's plane crash..and we saw him changing his plans ...
But, his father's reported death should have made him postpone his London trip not to cancel it out altogether..he was leaving because of Chachi...that wasnt solved. And neither did his father had asked him to stay back in India...It was he who decided to stay forth...Was it his father or a girl whom he wanted to see everyday?
Remember that Chandigarh wedding which Shravan did not attend..because he had a nasty sprain...but, at the backdrop was Sumo requesting him to spend a single day with her...one which would last a lifetime...Sprain happened miraculously and so did it vanish as well...(I am not saying he planned it consciously...it happened😆)...
How much do you lay the importance on destiny? We dont how these two would have got together...had Aditya not behaved as both a jerk and a moron...But, I can assure you that these two or one among them would have pulled the strings to stop the wedding...
Only once did Shravan not seize the rein of destiny...ten years before, when he refused to listen to the voice of Sumo calling out for him...he left...
Yet, he returned as well...Sumo still waiting...was it destiny that made him retrace his steps...Or as, Pushkar said he came to meet you?
When Shravan returned to India and visited Nanu for the first time in those ten years...He played chess with him...Sumo removed one chess pawn from the chessboard...Shravan realized that she had messed up...and yet, he remained quiet about it...and lost the game. Inadvertently, making the promise to Nanu that he will visit him for ten more chess games...Games which ironically have yet to be played...
Do you think so in Shakespeare's play Macbeth would not have murdered King Duncan had the witches not created the dream/illusion of himbecoming the king...Your guess is as good as mine😉

Mona...I wish we were the cvs..our track would have been super
Anu...your Sachin Tendulkar demands another post...probably if i have the mood ...shall write...😆

I somehow feel Shravan would not have done anything to stop the Adi wedding. His thought process is like this.

  • He loves his Dad. His Dad is indebted to Nanu. His Dad gives high priority to his own family.
  • He loves Sumo. Sumo is indebted to Nanu.
  • He himself is attached to Nanu - probably because he got the unconditional love from him. Also learnt chess from him !!
  • Maybe Nanu is his role model for a lawyer. 😆
Keeping aside Shravan's love for Sumo -

For Shravan first priority based on the above is Nanu. Nanu wanted him to take up Khosla case. Shravan told Sumo that he will not. Gave her another lawyer's card etc. But he could not leave the country. He was back to fight the case. For Nanu

Somewhere towards the end Ramnath wanted Shravan to give up the case for the sake of the family. But he did not. He fought it till the end. For Nanu.

Now Nanu wants him to marry Sumo. Even if Chachi had not told about Gurudakshina - Shravan would have said yes to the wedding when Nanu asked the next day. Inspite of him putting down Sumo the previous day. Because his first priority is Nanu.

Maybe in his mind supporting Nanu is like supporting his dearest grand child.

During the Adi wedding - as far as Shravan is aware of - Nanu gave his blessings to the couple. So why should Shravan do anything to stop it given the fact that Sumo did not give him any signals that she is agreeing under pressure ?

In my view only Sumo could have stopped the wedding at the last minute. If at all ------

Indrani, you surely deserve the most insightful poster on this forum award. :) I actually didn't see that scene (I watched initial episodes in fast track mode to catch up), so its quite a nice thing to see if Sumo actually did that. Because, this means that deep down Shravan knew it,and despite his obvious indifference/dislike/hatred for her, he wont mind her "advances" towards him. These two are seriously caught in a web - of their own battles, egos, insecurities, expectations...
and I can't stop going back to...

Tumhein ye zidd thi ki ham bulate, hamein ye umeed tum pukaro...

Hopefully being in one room, will take things forward. Fingers crossed.
