@Sanfan..

Benna, interesting point here..At some level this thought is very unsettling too...which is why this whole aspect in the narrative has raised some very uncomforatable questions. I will elaborate later due to paucity of time but briefly my point is...this desire to be a choice is understandable but this desire to be first choice is actually a facet of chauvinism and regressive thinking. I know we are looking at this as a story and romantic love does tend to challenge many notions that are uncomfortable...I hope the Cvs address this issue sensitively..in the Aditya phase..

Does he have an issue with being her second choice? Or just choice? He feels Suman is agreeing to him because of family, and Aditya was her original choice. He is so desensitized to other's pain at this moment (just like Suman), that he does not for once think that Suman may have been pressurized then (with nanu on death bed). He has no idea on all the things that have been happening behind his back all these years and everyone (except Lalaji and Pushkar) have been manipulating him to some degree. He did get uncomfortable with Suman having a crush in college remember, that's when he realized his love and then that match.com rishta, that Suman used as an excuse for making him meet Nirmala... I guess with Adi, Suman defied not his importance but what his perception (and in his world a final acceptance of her, despite her flaws/their disagreements) of Sumo is that hurts him the most...

THere was also a scene where Shravan tells her nobody wants her. And she says you are not THAT important that I will make decisions like wedding based on you.

All these abuses hurled at each other is very much possible at the heat of the moment. And one also gets angry with those from whom one has expectations.😕

I have asked this question before too. Had Aditya been a normal guy or even a guy with lesser jealousy and more ego that he goes through the wedding inspite of what Shravan said - would the wedding have happened ? Would Sumo and Shravan have allowed it to happen ?

That is one question that has been bothering me ever since we got news about Shravan's bachelor party fiasco... There are plenty of 'normal' guys out there who wouldn't even flinch for a moment at what Shravan said about him and Sumo being intimate. What if Adi had been one such guy? Then dhishoom would not have happened (at least not for the reasons it did😊)...
It seemed that Shravan was pining desperately, but not really doing anything to change the course of events. As for Sumo, she seemed like she was sleepwalking through the wedding rituals... There seemed no active intent or even desire in either of the leads to Do Something.
I keep wondering if two people - supposedly made for each other - can really give up Just Like That!

Destiny brought them back together, they did nothing on their own. If you don't work hard to get something, do you really realize its value? I wonder...

That is the phase where I disliked Sumo. She was downright disrespectful of Adi - as if he was solely responsible for this marriage/proposal. And you ask a very valid question. Adi normal hota to?

There was a scene where Suman asks for a second chance, specifically remember? She says is love story ko ek dusra mauka do... Here God/Destiny has given them many chances. But... but... but...

J, you have asked a question which falls in the category of what if? What if Aditya had turned out be a normal guy...would the wedding have proceeded?
I think not...Shravan would have intervened ...why do I believe this?
Well, during the Khosla case, Verma had called up Shravan and had mouthed nonsense against Sumo...
At that time, their relationship was one of indifference...Sumo had requested him to be the lawyer and he had refused... postulating the query...What do you want me to do? She had said whatever Nanu wanted...
And he had refused to help her or her Nanu ..
After that phone call with Verma...Shravan still hadnt taken up the case...but, like a person committed to helping someone..he knew ...he gave her a card of another lawyer...As a friend or as someone who would have done this for anyone...Shravan had played its part...He was not required to do more...

Yet, the next day...he turned up in person to help her...he had no idea that Verma would be harassing her...he just came to help her in the garb of a lawyer...
Destiny had presented itself in the form of a Verma...but, still the chances were grabbed by a Shravan...
Lets go back to a conversation between Pushkar and Sumo...Pushkar had said to Sumo..Shravan returned to India for her...he didnt need to...yet, he did...a fact, an emotion corresponding with Sumo waiting for him..
There are other instances when Destiny did play a part but, it wouldnt have mattered had the leads not opted to encapsulate that destiny in their lives...
Chachi after the fight with Aditya, said to Vandy...that she felt Shravan's passion and intensity during that fight...again something which was readily felt by Ramnath, Nanu and ofc, Sumo...
What if even after Aditya misbehaved with Sumo...and even after Sumo had hugged him...Shravan had not retaliated? His own family and likewise the Tiwaris...were trying to stop him...He could have just expressed shock, he didnt...Was it destiny? Was it because he was good man at heart that he fought as he spelled it out to Sumo or Ramnath?
What if Sumo had not hugged him after that incident? Her whole family were standing there...
She chose him over anyone else...As Shravan chose to fight instead of letting the elders decide the Aditya conundrum...

Bang on girl with your thoughts. U r making us the story easy to understand. It was all destiny though they denied for some or the other reason to be with each other they r again together. That is the beauty of the story. Adi is creepy from the beginning after sumo and shravan noticed and told her too. Bu5 she did not realise. Thus has to happen to her to finally fall for him . Sravan could have gotten any reason to part them. Koi ladka miljayega shadi kardenge how painful he spells it. He can't accept her with anyone.

Thank for the heads up Indrani - almost missed this post - all of you people describe shravan's inner self so well - it feels like reading the author's mind - and more.

I find your post very interesting as well. I agree with your "chauvinistic " but don't agree with "regressive". I will wait for your " in-depth" post.
