Well, BW certainly has a penchant for fair skin and they even lighten the few actresses who are not 'gori chitti'.
I don't think there is a problem with having songs about light skin. I think the problem is that there are few songs lauding dark skin or showing dark skin as desirable.
I think the audience is more to blame than the industry for this. I don't think the industry has an inherent bias against dark skin, but rather that they are not ready to challenge societal norms and want to profit off of existing beauty standards.
When was the last time we saw someone who looked like this on screen?

you know I do not really agree with this, I think society is more dangerous and more dark than films show it to be and that is why we often turn to films for that light hearted romance and comedy, or our songs and dance routldnt be soo popular staple diet in films...bright colours cool breeze and the synchronised dancing in the middle of a market...what I think is Bollywood often shows its industry beliefs and practices through its films and most often than not, a bling copy of everything Washington Dc or London...
