you know I do not really agree with this, I think society is more dangerous and more dark than films show it to be and that is why we often turn to films for that light hearted romance and comedy, or our songs and dance routldnt be soo popular staple diet in films...bright colours cool breeze and the synchronised dancing in the middle of a market...

what I think is Bollywood often shows its industry beliefs and practices through its films and most often than not, a bling copy of everything Washington Dc or London...

I was just adding one more song to your list but I guess you didn't get it.

Well I think you look fine and so do all the other girls even who are dark but you can't just blame the industry. I have yet to see one fair skinned desi girl who wishes to be dark. They are all mindful of taking care of their skin and also not even heading out without sunscreen or getting a tan. I personally don't mind any skin color because I dig features and body over complexion. But fair skin is important to many others and although it sounds ridiculous but if given a chance every dark girl would love to improve her complexion. Human beings always like to have a competitive edge over others. That is just how it is.

Well, BW certainly has a penchant for fair skin and they even lighten the few actresses who are not 'gori chitti'.

I don't think there is a problem with having songs about light skin. I think the problem is that there are few songs lauding dark skin or showing dark skin as desirable.

I think the audience is more to blame than the industry for this. I don't think the industry has an inherent bias against dark skin, but rather that they are not ready to challenge societal norms and want to profit off of existing beauty standards.

When was the last time we saw someone who looked like this on screen?

Hum kaale hain toh kya hua Dil wale hain 😆
Arey Gore rang par guman naa kar gora rang do din mai dhal jayega 😉

In old times it was nice versa ... It's was like sarcasm for Gore people 😆

Now days that is almost all people have gone modern ... Gori ladkiyaan are somewhat beautiful and cute. While Sawli ladkiyaan are somewhat hot . Moreover Gori ladkiyaan are somewhat Ghamandi toh isliye songs bane hain 😆

@TheBoss SORRRYYY! I did not get it, the song or the lyrics in fact your earlier reply with my
misinterpretation surprised me.Thanks for clearing it out !
in the west, women do try to get tanned or get a shade darker or two but that's it.
light skinned women nevr exress a wish to go darker, and that's okay why should they change a colour they are born with.
I just wish dark skinned girls were equally obstinate and not get swayed over by this so called standard of beauty

p.s someone with a username -KadakLonda- just pmed me --

"You seems to be Gori 😉 toh itni tension kyu leti ho tum😆" and the profile pic avatar is of Lord Krishna, irony just died a thousand deaths !!!
hope now you understand why I reacted this way...

I don't think BW was outright biased towards fair skin before. Kajol in her younger days used to be very dark and not so groomed yet people loved her! I think with time BW is regressing! Theses days every actress wanna appear fair and airbrushed!
Kajol looked almost fair in Dilwale. DP looks way fairer now compared to her debut!
Sad really!

Some of the most beautiful girls are dark skinned but I always found them beautiful. Anu Agarwal, Konkana Sen, Chitrangada, Smita Patel, etc. To me it is very hard to define what is beautiful. There is no set of qualities I will see and chose. It's just what meets the eye.
Waise bhi man ki aankhon se tum sab sundar ho, lilac, pember, Yam, divine, etc etc. 😆
