She took another sip of her steaming coffee as she tried to concentrate on the book in her hand. She was not biased to any genre, but if she had to pick a favourite then she'll opt for the sunnier ones. They would remind her of the happier chapters of her life.
She giggled to herself, turning to look at the man who lay beside her.
Omkara Singh Oberoi!
What was he, if not a mystery shrouded by another mystery?
At first, she had given up all hopes at getting a decent acknowledgement of her existence from this man. But then she had come to terms with the fact that nothing pulled at the strings of his heart more than the strings she, as Ishana, held in her grasp.
Tonight was the fateful night, when she had the key to all the riches in the world. His heart. What was richer than his opulent heart, that dripped gold and silver for the love that they had shared, an eternity promised. And tomorrow was the morning, he would find himself alone in this bed, her side falling dreadfully cold. After all, promises were meant to be broken!
Her heart throbbed painfully at the very thought of hurting the man she had fallen for, over these months. But wasn't he the one who taught her to do what needed to be done? And her family needed her more than he did.
It was either their love or her family's life!
She stroked his forehead as he tossed and turned, returning into a peaceful slumber at her gentle touch. A heartbroken smile masked her face and her hands trembled as she clutched the seven crayons in her fists. Pressing them to the brilliant white sheet of paper, she wrote.
In my time of despondency,
Came along a celestial being.
He was the one in union with the stars,
I write this while I'm fleeing.
An angel with a broken wing,
He has a broken heart, a broken sight.
With a beautiful soul, he breathes,
Constantly blessing me with respite.
Despite the poignant pain,
That is swallowing him whole,
Each day he chooses to be selfless,
He's the diamond, I'm the coal.
He gave me what was left of him,
To make my blind eyes see.
That loving life can be beautiful,
So today, I'll set him free.
He sculpted me piece by piece,
With delicate, callous hands.
He drowned me in the sea of care,
Yet I offered him the dry sands.
He lent me his holy wings,
And now I will forever soar.
I am taking his spirit along,
I apologize from my very core.
Away from me, happy and strong,
That is what he ought to be.
My cradle of solitude sent from above,
I'm your pain, you're my serenity.
He wasn't meant to be her 2:00 a.m. thoughts or 3:00 a.m. poems. She glowered at her portraits that he had painted. Hot tears trailed down her cheeks, dripping onto the note, uncontrolled. She sobbed, the glow of the night-lamp illuminating her forlorn face.
He wasn't meant to be her midnight dreams or afternoon regrets. She leaned in, careful not to wake him up, and placed a soft kiss on his lips. She knew she was his wish, she was his magic. But she couldn't make him hers. That was the worst kind of heartbreak, wasn't it?
He wasn't meant to be her 5:00 a.m. shots or her 9:00 a.m. memories. Placing the note on her side of the bed, she scrambled up. The seven crayons broke and she let them go, dropping them upon the white sheet like the scattered colors of their future together.
But somehow, he would manage to be all of those, and something more. She picked up the duffel-bag full of money and staggered towards the door. Before she closed that last door that would make Omkara hate his Ishana, she caught one last sight of his smiling face and burned it into her memory. He'll find his solace in someone else, someone who is not Ishana.
She was a marauder but the only thing she would leave behind is the rainbow she had poured out into that last note, forever hoping that it would be solace to his pain.
That would be Omkara and Ishana's RAINBOW!
Author's Note: - This One Shot is dedicated to Amreen, my sweetest little one! Well, do great in your exam darling and do me proud! This is my first shot at Ishkara so I am not satisfied by the way it turned out. I think there could've been something more!
Forgive me! I'll write more and improve!
Hey, you all out there, I hope you had a happy time reading it!
