Ranveer Singh, who has earlier endorsed a condom brand, says sex as a topic is not considered taboo by the youth anymore even though it is considered "dirty" and "a stigma" by the larger population in the country.

"Sex in our country is a subject of stigma. For the longest time, sex in India has always been spoken and thought of as a dirty thing, a sleazy subject and always kept in the closet," said the actor at the screening of Sex Chat with Pappu And Papa, an online series based on sex education.

Ranveer had made news when he endorsed a condom brand a few years ago and had also featured in some steamy ads. "It was my own small way of shedding light on the changing perception about sex. Youngsters don't look upon it as a taboo subject anymore, they don't think about it as a dirty thing. I wanted to try and bring sex out of the closet and make people understand that it is a beautiful thing... An expression of love. What's most important is for the Indian youth to understand as much as they can about safe sex and sex education. There are still so many institutions that don't have it mandatory, which I think should be made mandatory," the Bajirao Mastani actor added.

Yep, he is correct u know. When most developed countries like US and under developed countries like Lagos (East Africa), Nigeria were introducing Sex Education in their curriculum for Upper grade students in the school, Why not in India? Why the parents, in India still tell their children, the bird's and bees stories?

even today young people r afraid of going into a pharmacy to buy condoms, coz they r scared of wat people will think of them, and they so end up having unprotected sex which gives them a high risk of getting pregnant and spreading sexual diseases

Rather than talking about sex being a beautiful thing, it's more important that the public know about the consequences of unprotected sex because most teens nowadays know everything about sex and think it's a matter of prestige to lose one's virginity as quickly as possible leading to various cases of teen pregnancy and what not.

Sex is not a taboo subject anymore, people just don't prefer being so open about it. The issue is that proper information about it like sex education needs to be taught in rural areas and in schools/colleges.

Sorry Ranveer but you doing condom advertisements and giving interview's isn't much help. It's better if he focuses on using whatever power he has to help promote sex education in schools and colleges through the government initiatives.

NO, may be not. But what do u expect him to do? He is doing his part and asking us to do our part by saying its not a dirty thing and we should discuss it for our childrens welfare sake. We could do that much na?

I dont think just Providing a Condom ad on TV&Launching a Interview Makes you learn about Sex.
Unless the Special Education should be Ported in the Education System Itself.
