Ram tells Ravana that if his arrows haven't caused the ruin of him and his army, the reason behind is it that he needs the answers of some questions which he can answer only if he is alive. Lakshman wonders why is Ram being so emotional and proceeds to make a change but Hanuman stops him. He explains to Lakshman that Ram knows that he will kill Ravana, but he's sad because the world will lose a scholar lIke Ravana because of the latter's arrogance. Lakshman angrily exclaims that Ravana isn't worthy of pity but of punishment.
Ravana ridicules Ram calling him a mere human being. He utters that since a human being can do him no harm, he did not seek protection from humans. Sita says that you follow dharma. You lived in my area for ten years and killed my asuras, violating all the codes. Ram replies that as an ascetic he could live there. And since his asuras were troubling the people, it was his dharma to kill them.
Ravana asks Ram did dharma permit him to cut off a woman's nose? Ram replies that he never favoured the incident. But how Sita was at fault? Why he abducted her? Ravana replies that Sita's fault was being his wife. He wanted Ram to suffer, and that's why he abducted his wife. You and your brother insulted my clan by cutting of Surpanakha's nose and I revenged it by abducting Sita and insulting your clan.
Trijata chants Om Namah Shivay. She tells Sita that she belongs to Asura kul. But then she came in her life and changed it. Since the time she beheld Lord Ram's face, she . She's praying for the victory of dharma, and Sita's release. Sita utters that Ram won't kill Ravana till the latter is conscious of all his sins. Only then Ravana will be released from his Asura form.
Ram is doubtful of Ravana's knowledge. He tells him that he may be a Vedacharya, but he lacks Brahma-Gyan. Ravana recites a shloka and boasts of his knowledge. Ram recites another shloka and explains to Ravana that it's Vedacharan, the knowledge that is derived from the study of Vedas and Puranas. Brahma-Gyan would have made him free of ego and pride. He claims that Ravana would cause the downfall of the Asura clan. Ravana arrogantly replies that his speeches are meant to hide his cowardice. Surpanakha's nose was chopped in cowardice. Ravana asks Ram why is he alive in spite of his failure to protect Sita? Does he lack the courage to commit suicide?
Ram replies that he is here to fulfil his dharma. Sita was abducted by deceit. If he fails to free her, only then his vow will break. But it won't happen as he will return with Sita. Ravana exc4 that it won't happen as long as he is alive. He provokes Ram for a war and laughs and ridicules them. Ram smiles and tells Ravana that the rules must be followed in a Dharma-Yudh. The codes assert that the war won't happen after sunset, even if your biggest enemy is in front of you. The war will begin tomorrow. Ram returns and the chants of Jai Sri Ram fill the air.
Kaikesi questions how is Ram alive in spite of Ravana's presence in the battlefield. Ravana tells her that he did not feel like ending his life today. He utters that Ram is the solution of all their problems. Hence he has decided that he will be Ram, whom Sita trusts the most.
