The new instalment of popular dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa Season 9' is all set to hit the television tube on July 30. While the opening episode has already been shot in a grand way, we are here to reveal some major changes introduced in the voting format this season.

There will be no audience voting, this time! Yes, instead the evictions will be based on two specific criteria. One will be the Judges (Jacqueline Fernandes, Karan Johar and Ganesh Hedge) scores and the other parameter will be the studio audience poll. The audience present on the set will decide who will stay back and who will leave the show, based on their performances.

The total sum of the Judges score and the live audience' poll will decide the fate of the contestant's journey on the show.

So this means there will be no voting system open for the viewers watching the performances on television. Hence, the judgement will purely be based on performance and not the popularity of the participant.

Whether this change proves to be an advantage or a disadvantage for the contestants, is surely going to be a wait and watch!

The upcoming season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' has been in the news already even before the show goes on-air. The line-up is star-studded like every season and several controversies have already hit the web.

Be it actor-host, Manish Paul's apparent mega fee or contestants' displeasure on the participation of actor-choreographer, Salman Yusuff Khan, the show has everyone talking about it already.

The latest addition to the news lane is about how Bollywood superstar, Hrithik Roshan, who was slated to be a part of an episode to promote his film, 'Mohenjo Daro', opted out of the show at the last moment.

Reportedly, the channel wanted Hrithik to appear on the roast comedy show, 'Comedy Nights Bachao' along with 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 9.' The comedy show, 'Comedy Nights Bachao' has always been on the radar, owing to its nature of roast comedy which may or may not be taken well by several celebrities.

Hrithik apparently wasn't comfortable with the format and hence backed out of both the shows.

However, the shocking part is that actor Akshay Kumar, who is known for his comic prowess and has been a part of some comic acts in various shows, too has apparently backed out of both the shows for the promotion his upcoming film, 'Rustom'.

There was a controversy recently where Akshay, who appeared on 'Comedy Nights Bachao' for the promotion of Housefull 3 did not have a pleasant experience and was miffed with the show. Akshay's apparent slap to comedian Siddharth Jadhav for passing racist jokes on Lisa Haydon are still doing the rounds. Hence, the actor might give these shows a miss.

We tried contacting Bharti Singh and Krushna Abhishek, who remained unavailable for any comment.

Technically if the studio audience is "voting" then that means they will still vote for their favorites lol...so i dont know why they are saying that the results will be based on "performance only"...live audience can easily still vote for whoever they want to.

The format sounds like a disaster lol Judges are boring, contestants are whatever too!

And Salman a contestant? Sorry thats just weird, how can a choreographer who has WON The show be a contestant? That makes no sense. I like Salman and everything and I would love to see him dance - but this is unfair and unethical!
