Chapter 7

Naina comes outside at the entrance door of Yudi's bunglow. She sees Ali and Pooja are getting down from the jeep and one ambulance is entering in bunglow behind their jeep. Ali and Pooja look at Naina. They can easily read all the questions on Naina's face. Pooja runs towards Naina and hugs her hard. Naina hugs her back and asks her, "Pooja, ye kya ho raha hain? Ye ambulance? Tum sab thik toh ho na?" Pooja breaks the hug and holds Naina's hand in hers.

Meanwhile, Ambulance's doors get wide open. Aalekh and Yudi get down. Aalekh sees Pooja is coming towards them with Naina. Naina reaches him and looks at him with questioning eyes. Aalekh places his right hand on her right shoulder and holds her left shoulder by his left hand and hugs her half. First, Aalekh looks into her eyes and then changes his gaze towards ambulance doors. Naina's eyes follow his eyes.

Now, Naina is looking at Yudi and Huda who are helping two hospital boys for bringing the stretcher down from ambulance. She gets closer to ambulance with Aalekh in order to see properly. As they finish their task and bring stretcher entirely down with proper care, Naina sees him. She is not able to trust her eyes. Actually, she is not able to see him properly because of her teary eyes. Two hospital boys are standing infront of her with Rajveer's stretcher. Huda and Yudi looks at Naina with teary smile. Pooja rests her head on Ali's chest for hiding her tears. Aalekh tighten his hold on Naina and gestures Huda to go inside the house by his eyes. Huda and Yudi enter in the house and hospital boys follow them. Ali looks at Aalekh and Aalekh gestures him also to take Pooja inside. Ali glances at Naina and then goes inide the house along with Pooja.

Now, only Aalekh and Naina are standing in porch area. Naina becomes numb to say or react to anything. Aalekh turns her towards him. He wipes her tears. Naina is staring at Aalekh. Aalekh puts his hand on her head and says, "Naina, aapun samajh raha hain ke tere ko abhi kya lag raha hoga. Aapun tujhe sab batayega.. abhi keliye andar chal.. aur ye rona dhona aaj se band.. ye khushi ka mouka hain.. aapun ke sir wapas aa gaye Naina.. aapun ke sir wapas aa gaye." While consoling Naina, Aalekh himself is unable to control his emotions and sbreaks down. He hugs Naina tightly. Then, he holds Naina's hands and takes her to upstairs at the room.

Here, in the room, Doctor's assistants and hospitalboys have settle Rajveer's bed and all medical machines. All are present in room only when Aalekh brings Naina there. They stand near Rajveer's bed. Naina looks intently at Rajveer. She fixes her gaze at his closed eyes. His eyes, which always conveyed all his feelings to her. His eyes, in which she always enjoyed looking and staring. Their eyelocks, which was the medium of their communication.

She comes out from her daze when junior doctor starts giving them instructions. "Dekho, abhi toh kuch bhi problem nahin hain. Jaise sir ne kaha, humein inke hosh mein aane ke pure hopes hain. Aapko yeh sab medical equipments main samajha dunga. Lekin iski jarurat nahin padegi. Ye hain Hari." He points out to one of those hospital boys and continues, "Ye yaha roj subah sham ek baar aa jayega aur sab kuch check kar lega. Patient ke baki ke jo kaam hote hain wo bhi kar lega. Agar kabhi bhi, koi bhi jarurat pade toh mujhe ya sir ko contact kijiyega. Sir ka card already aapke pass hain hi. Bas inse hamesha baatein karte rahiyega. Achi yaadein, khushi ka mahol ye sab inko mil jaaye toh shayad jaldi uth jaaye. Aur haan, jis Naveen aur Naina ka naam leke woh uthe the agar aap unko contact kar paye toh acha hoga. Unke inse baat karne se, saath rehne se shayad kaam ban jaye." All look towards Naina who continuously staring Rajveer. "Toh thik hain. Hum ab chalte hain." Doctor and hospital boys leave the room. Yudi and Ali walk off with them.

Pooja brings chair and places it near Rajveer's bed. Aalekh makes Naina sit on the chair and says, "Naina, Aapunke sir coma mein hain. Lekin doctor log ka kehna hain ke wo jaldi hosh mein aa sakte hain. Aapun sab abhi niche jaa rele hain. Tu yaha ruk ja.. sir ke pass." Aalekh gestures Ali and Pooja to come along with him. All left.

Naina is still looking intently at Rajveer's face.

(Slow RN tune starts playing in the background.)

Flashes of all sweet and sour moments which they spent together starts running infront of her eyes.

"Fresher?"

"Yes Sir."

"Naam?"

"Naina... ah Singh"

"Naina ah... Singh, interesting name."

"Agar khud par yakeen ho toh umeed nahin chodte kyunki umeed par hi toh jung jeeti jati hain"

"Par tum ek dost ke saath hi toh ho. Captain Rajveer Singh Shikhawat. So why worry about others?"

"Naina, kitna trust karti ho mujhpar, kis had tak?"

"Dr.Mishra ko aisa lagta hain ki mujhe pyar ho gaya. Aur kamal ki baat toh yeh hain ki mujhe khud ko bhi nahin maloom ke mujhe pyar ho gaya aur kisse? Lekin bada ajeeb lagta hain jab main ye sochta hun ke wo kitni bewakoof ladki hogi jise mujh jaise complicated insan ke saath pyar ho jayega."

"Janati hon Naveen hamesha se mujhse kahin jyada khushkismat insan raha hain. Uske pass aaj bhi wo cheej hain jisse main chahkar bhi kabhi nahin paa payunga."

"Kya Sir?"

"Tumhara Vishwas."

"Nahin Naina, tum mujhe kabhi nahin khoyogi."

As soon as, she remembers his this promise, a small smile crepts on her lips. "Main janti thi sir aap apna promise kabhi nahin todoge. Aap jarur lautke aa jaoge. Sir, uthiye, aapki Cadet Naina ah Singh aapke saamne hain. Uthiye aur order dijiye. Sipayi aise kabhi soya nahin karte. Uthiye na sir. Uthiye." She starts to shake him, she tries to wake him up. She gets up from her chair and holds his both shoulders by her hands. She is shaking hin hardly but he is not ready to wake up. Now she starts shouting, "uthiye sir, uthiye. Iss desh ko aapki jarurat hain. Humein aapki jarurat hain, Mujhe..." and that is all for her. She is unable to hold herself. She places her head on his chest and starts crying loudly. She is trying to wake him up in between her sobs.

At downstairs, all are listening to Naina's all shouting and crying. All are sitting restlessly. They are helpless but they have hope also. But now Pooja is unable to control her concern for her best friend. She suddenly gets up fron sofa and says while walking towards stairs, "Main jake Naina ko sambhalti hun. Nahin toh discharge ho jayegi wo."

"Ruk Pooja. Rone de use." Aalekh commands Pooja. Poojs halts st her way. Aalekh continues, "Tu mat ja Pooja. Naina ko rone de. Uska rona bahot jaruri hain. Itne mahino se jo usne apne andar jitna sab bhar ke rakha hain wo sab bahar niklana jaruri hain. Aaj use jee bhar ke ro lene de. Kyunki aaj ke baad use rona nahin padega. Aa, baith jaa yaha."

"Haan punjaban, qaidi sahi keh raha hain. Naina ka gum sirf rone se mit sakta hain. Usse uske gum se aajad hone de ab." Huda supports Aalekh's thoughts.

"Yes dude, Naina will feel light and thats important." Says Yudi.

Pooja comes back and sits on her place. Naina is still crying and sobbing between her pleads to Rajveer.

Pooja is preparing dinner in the kitchen and aalekh and Ali are helping her in making food. Pooja breaks the silence in Kitchen rrom and says, "Aalekh, Naina bahot der se silent mode pe chali gayi hain. Tu yeh sab chod. Main kar lungi. Ek baar jaake Naina ko dekh le aur use dinner pe bhi bula laa."

"Thik hain Pooja. Aapun jata hain." Now even Aalekh wants to see Naina. So he immediately agrees with her and goes upstairs at Rajveer's room.

When he reaches there he sees, Naina is sitting on the chair. She has placed her head on Rajveer's shoulder and sleeping peacefully holding hid hand tightly.

Aalekh smiles wholeheartedly. Now he really does not want to wake her up. But he has to. He reaches her and places his hand on her shoulder. He sofly shakes her. Naina opens her eyes and says "Rajveer sir". Aalekh instantly replies her, "Kahin nahin gaye hain Rajveer sir aur ab kahin jaane wale bhi nahin. Tere saath hi hain."

Naina sees her hold on his hand. She holds it more tightly to confirm that he is not going anywhere. Aalekh notices this, "Kya bachhon ki tarah kar reli hain tu Naina. Chal uth abhi. Niche khana khane chal."

"Nahin Aalekh, mujhe bhook nahin hain. Main yahi baithungi sir ke pass. Tu ja." Naina refuses to take dinner.

"Naina, aisa nahin chalega. Khana nahin khayegi toh bimar pad jayegi aur tuhi bimar padegi toh sir ko koun thik karega. Chal uth. Bachpana chod de." Aalekh scolds her

"Aalekh, pehle tu meri baat sun. Tu mujhe ye bata ke sir tum logonko kaha mile aur inhe kya hua hain?" Atlast she asks him what she wanted to ask them since evening.

"Ek shart pe aapun tereko sab batayega." Now Aalekh gets his chance to make her do what he wants. "Kya?" Naina asks him. "Tu pehle aapunke saath niche chalegi, khana khayegi. Phir aapun sab log milke tujhe sab bata dalega." Aalekh smiles secretely.

"Tu nahin sudhrega na Aalekh. Aur main abhi kuch bhi kahun tu manne wala bhi nahin." Naina says annoyingly.

"Kitna achi tarah se samajhti hain tu Naina mujhe. Aapun bilkul manne wala nahin hain. Aur aapunne pehle bhi kaha aur ab bhi keh rela hun ye rona dhona aajse band. Bahot ro liya tune. Yeh khushi ka maouka hain. An achi si smile de de aur dinner karne chal. Phir aapun tujhko flashback mein leke jayega." Aalekh smiles at Naina.

Naina stares Aalekh for sometime and gives him a big smile. She hugs him. Aalekh caresses her hair and says, "Chal ab. Sab aapunka wait kar rele honge."

Naina breaks the hug and looks at Rajveer. She smiles. Then they head to the dinning hall at downstairs.

As soon as Huda sees Naina and Aalekh, he says, "Are aa gaye tum dono, jaldi aao aur baitho. Yaha toh mere pet mein chuhe daud rahe hain. Aur Panjaban ko dekho, ek sou ek dishes banayi hain. Kyun Panjaban, Shaadi hain kya thari aaj?"

Pooja looks at Ali and blushes. Huda observes her blushing and he gets more energy to tease her. "Oye hoye Pujaban, aaj kal tu bahot jyada sharmane lagi hain. Kya baat hain?"

"Huda tu chup kar abhi. Chupchap khana khana shuru kar de. Aur main khush kyun nahin hongi, mere Shahrukh se connection jo lag gaya." replies Pooja

Pooja glances at Naina who takes her seat at dining table with Aalekh.

"Par yarron, yad hain na, hamara kya decide hua hain. Sir ki baat hum abhi kisiko naa batane wale. Apne gharon pe bhi nahin.." Huda reminds all.

Naina starts eating her food and listening to their conversation silently. But now she is getting impatient. There are many questions coming into her mind. She wants to know everything about Rajveer. They are busy talking with each other. Therefore Naina asks them in loud tone, "Guys tum sabka ho gaya ho toh ab please mujhe koi bataya ke aaj exactly hua kya? Aur Sir tum logonko kahan miley?"

"Are haan. Tujhe toh kisine bataya hi nahin naa. Ruk main batati hun. Shahrukh pehle mujhe miley. Badi lambi kahaan ni hain. Wo aisa hua ke aaj hamara cross connection ek dadaji se lag gaya raaste mein, jab hum resort jaa rahe the..." Pooja starts narrating all the events to Naina which happened at that day earlier.

And then one by one everyone narrates whole story of dadaji and their vintage home, his friends and about Rajveer. Whatever Dadaji had told then, they narrate her everything. Naina has tears in her eyes after hearing how dadaji saved Rajveer's life and has taken proper care of him since one and half year.

Finally Aalekh speaks, "Teen mahine pehle Sir ko hosh aaya tha. Tab unhone sirf tera aur Naveen bhaiya ka naam liya tha. Aur unke purse se dadaji ko yeh do(2) photo mila." Aalekh takes out that 2 photographs from his pocket and hands it over to Naina.

Naina looks at those photographs. Tears are flowing down from her eyes. "Mujhe unse milna hain." Naina requests to all.

"Tu chinta mat kar Phoolan. Sir ko ek baar thik ho jaane de. Hum sab waha phir se jaayenge." He assures her. Naina just shakes her head in yes.

Naina enters in Rajveer's room. She reaches near his bed. She looks at all machines which attached to his body and indicating that everything is normal. She sits near him on bed and starts talking to him.

"Sir, kaha chale gaye the aap? Aapne toh promise kiya tha ke aap hamesha mere mentor rahenge. Aapko pata hain maine aapki adhuri ladhai ladhi bhi aur jeeti bhi. Navin bhaiya nirdosh sabit ho gaye aur ab unki photo KMA ke Hall of Fame mein bade shaan se lagi huyi hain. Bas ab apne dost ko miley huye samman ko dekhne toh aapko jaldi uthnahi padega."

She takes his hand in her hand and goes on with her talk, "Aur sir aapko pata hain, aapki Cadet Naina ah Singh, academy ki best cadet pass out hain aur hogi bhi kyun na, jiske mentor Captain Rajveer ho use toh best hona hi tha." She laughs. "Waise sir kya aapko yaad hain mentorship programme ke waqt aap jab mere mentor bane the tab aapne mujhse kya kaha tha?"

"Ek nayi shuruwat tumhare bright future ki"

She smiles at that memory and says "Sir, chalo aaj se phir ek nayi shuruwat karte hain. Hamare bright future ki."

She looks at his hand which resting on the bed. She remembers when he had requested her hand in his in order to teach her dance.

"May I... have the pleasure?"

Naina takes Rajveer's hand in her other hand and entwines their fingures in each others.

(Song starts in the background.)

She caresses his knuckle by her thumb and wipes a tear which fells down from her eyes by her other hand.

She kisses his back of hand and holds his hand in between her hands. She closes her eyes to feel him.

"... wo ek insan Captain Rajveer ke liye itna important ban chuka tha ke uske liye koi baat important nahin thi aur wo tum ho. He wanted to prove his innocence to you, to the one he loves."

"... mera career, mera dost, mera p..."

Naina opens her teary eyes. She remembers how he always had understood her each and every said and unsaid word. She tried to kill him but he never hated her. He always suffered for her; either it was that 24 hours of solitary confinement or courtmartial. He never complained and if anytime he got angry at her then it was for her. He always wanted best for her.

"Par, sir wo.."

"Maine kaha na aapse. Aap jaiye yahase. Waise bhi cadets ko kisi bhi waqt faculty quarters mein aana allowed nahin hain. Aapne suna nahin maine kya kaha.(He shouts at her) Apni class mein jaiye. Aur agar aapki class nahin hain toh library mein study kijiye. Go now."

She harks back to those days after mentorship camp when he started ignoring her. Even he announced that he is no more her mentor. But like every time, his eyes were narrating all together a different story. He was giving pain to her but as if he himself was feeling it. He was hurting himself most by his words and actions.

Naina wipes her tears, "Aise kaise chalega sir? Mere har sawal ka jawab ab bas aaphi ke pass hain. Aur main apna har jawab leke rahungi. Aapko pata hain ke aapki Cadet Singh bahot jyada ziddi hain. Main aise aapko mere sawalon se bhagne nahin dungi."
