The Hint from OS: The Shopping Date was -

"But, I must admit, you have many hidden shades."

"Well, I have loads of skills and talents that you don't know about still." Sonakshi said, giving Dev a cheeky grin.

"And what are they?"

"That would be telling." Sonakshi replied.

"Singing, dancing toh nahi hai. Definitely not cooking. Ladai mein toh PhD ki hai aapne, but apart from that, I don't think you have any." Dev joked, while Sonakshi playfully hit his arm.

OS - The Linguistic Dr. Bose

"I hate studying French! Holy, crap! Who has second language in Graduation?" Nikki came in, grumbling, and banged her books, on the dining table, where Dev sat having breakfast, and Sonakshi was sipping some fresh juice.

"Nikki?" Dev looked up.

"Bhai! You don't say! You were some genius, in school and college, and Sona Didi, aap toh kuch zyaada hi studious hain. But, unfortunately, I like to enjoy." Nikki complained, as she opened the fridge and grabbed a chocolate to munch on.

Dev and Sonakshi laughed in their defence.

Sonakshi then began, "Languages are beautiful, aren't they? I mean, how else do you communicate what you want to say. You can read, and write, or speak, and convey anything you want."

"True. And I happen to like the French language. It's so soothing and soft."

Nikki heard the philosophical talk, and huffed away to her room.

"I sure know that." Sonakshi grumbled, rolling her eyes, as she recollected the time when Dev and Natasha conversed in French.

"I am also quite sure, you wouldn't have found time, to study anything apart from food and diseases." Dev mocked.

"You highly underestimate me, Mr. Judgemental Dixit." Sonakshi stomped to the kitchen, as Dev looked on.

Later In The Evening

"Ms. Bose, haven't you left yet?" Dev asked, quite surprised to find Sonakshi seated on the couch, writing something.

"It's not Ms. Bose for you, Mr. Dixit." [Said in Bengali] Sonakshi replied, coolly, without even looking up.

"Hindi please, Ms. Bose!" Dev said, exasperated.

"Maari matrabhasa Hindi nathi, Mr.Dixit." Sonakshi again, replied in Gujrati. [My mother tongue is not Hindi, Mr. Dixit.]

"That didn't even sound like Bengali to me. Which language was that, Ms. Bose?" Dev, was taken aback.

"It's called common sense, which you do not have." Sonakshi, said, as she got up ready to leave.

"Finally, English. It's late, I'll drop you home." Dev, suggested.

"Tevai illai." [It means No Need in Tamil.]

"I don't care anymore. Just sit in the car." Dev said, walking outside.

Sonakshi laughed, as she followed him.

Dev was opening the door of his car, when he saw Sonakshi walking away from the car, towards the gate.

"Dr. Bose! I said, I'll drop you home."

"I didn't remember accepting your offer, Mr. Dixit." Sonakshi replied, haughtily.

"Ms. Bose, I mean, Dr. Bose, please."

Sonakshi shrugged her shoulders, and sat inside.

As they drove back, Dev looked at Sonakshi's silent profile, calm and serene, a small smile played on his lips.

Sonakshi was looking outside the window, in the darkness of the night, her hands folded against her chest, not really in a mood for conversation.

Dev didn't mind her anger, in fact, he liked it. He liked every aspect of hers; anger, laughter, maturity, childishness, everything.

Dev looked at Sonakshi then, and in that span of a two seconds, he realized, his decision from the previous night, was irrevocable. There weren't any doubts left in his mind, but, that irrational part of his brain, that had sprung a sudden question was also put to rest.

"You seem to know quite a few languages." Dev began, treading on shaky grounds.

"Ten."

"English because, that's the medium of instruction in school and college, Hindi as you stay in Delhi, and Bengali because that's your mother tongue. What about those other languages you spoke?" Dev asked, curious and highly impressed.

"Well, I have always loved learning new languages. It gives me a sense of power? I am not sure. I learnt to speak Gujrati when I was in Mumbai for a couple of years, when I was young,..."

"Gujrati? I assumed, you'd learn Marathi there."

"Yes, that too. Well, Mumbai is a very cosmopolitan city, Mr. Dixit. The number of Gujratis there! We also had many neighbours, who were Gujjus. And, Marathi as a third language in school."

"Okay, that makes it five."

"Why are you so interested?" Sonakshi snapped.

"I guess, you are, as a whole a very interesting person, and anything about you interests me." Dev, began slowly.

"Oh, really?" Sonakshi asked questioningly.

Dev shrugged, as he turned rightwards.

"Well, I like Japanese and Korean dramas, so I learnt a little bit of those two, online, in fact, I am still learning. But, Japanese is insanely difficult. My maid servant is a Tamilian, hence I know a little of that. I did A1 Course in German last year."

"What's the last one?"

"Sign language."

"Okkayyy.." Dev nodded.

"Especially when I am with people who annoy me, I keep quiet. It's a sign for them, to get lost." Saying so, Sonakshi turned her face away from Dev.

"Dr. Bose, honestly, I am very highly impressed. I mean, it isn't easy to study nutrition, and in addition to that, you have learnt so much more."

"Thank you." She said curtly.

"I didn't know, you stayed in Bombay for a while."

"I did, when Dad got a transfer there, for like two years, in sixth and seventh."

"That's really nice. I have always wanted to stay there."

"You should probably settle there after marriage." Sonakshi said, her face sour.

"Would you like to settle there?" Dev asked.

"Ya, maybe. You know, once I am more financially stable..." Sonakshi continued, when she suddenly looked at him. "What?"

"What what? Nothing at all." Dev, said coolly.

"By the way, why do you dislike Natasha so much?" Dev asked, amused.

"Probably, because, I like you." Sonakshi said, quite frankly.

Dev raised his eyebrows at her, his surprise evident, but he didn't say anything.

"I guess; it was high time I told you that. I have a couple of days left, before I leave this job, rather my contract ends then." Sonakshi said, quite assured.

"But, I know its awkward when you are marrying someone else. You don't have to worry. I am not crazily in love with you or anything. I have got a new job, at Mr. Ahuja's. And, I have some plans. So my career will keep me busy."

Dev didn't seem to listen. Sonakshi wondered if she had made a terrible mistake.

"Natasha and I aren't engaged anymore." Dev said, quietly.

Sonakshi was shocked, and her reaction was visible.

"Don't look at me like that, I am not a criminal." Dev laughed.

"Well?" Sonakshi asked.

"I realized, I cannot live with her all my life, when I want to spend my entire life with someone else." Dev said, looking pointedly at Sonakshi.

Sonakshi laughed, shaking her head, "I can't believe this."

"Neither can I." Dev agreed.

Dev braked and stopped the car.

"What?" Sonakshi asked.

"Bachchi hain aap, itni bhi samajh nahi aati, ki seat belt pehni chahiye?" Dev chided, and turned towards Sonakshi, who was wide eyed, and coolly, removed, the seat belt Sonakshi had already worn.

The calm and comic atmosphere was now charged with sexual tension. This was a couple, that had confessed their feelings towards each other, albeit almost.

Their faces were incredibly close to each other, pupils dilated, heart rate raised, Dev's gaze shifted to Sonakshi's lips, and they kissed, softly at first, trying to get used to each other.

Their lips, moving against the other, and suddenly, Dev and Sonakshi weren't in control anymore. Dev's hands cupped her face, while her hands went around his neck and her fingers tangled in her hair.

The kiss deepened dramatically, and their mouths opened against their lips, tongues battling for dominance, as two people, starkly similar yet different won over their hearts.

The End

Note - This story was as per lasyap3 or Lassi's request. Lassi, I thought a lot about which skill, to write on, and decided since, it was you who asked, I'll write about languages, since you too, like learning new languages. But the story took off in a different direction, and I beg your pardon, if this is not what you wanted. I tried my best. And, for Anu and Soumya, who wanted some romance. That was an add on I suppose.🤗

AS USUAL, THERE IS A HINT. This hint is an incentive for me to write when I get some time, I don't promise regular updates anymore.😕😳

This is my 18th story on this Forum. I guess, not reaching a round figure of 20 is a divine indication that I must come back, if and when I get time.😆🤣

I tried using Google Translator, but, the translations seemed so horrendous, I decided to play safe, and write them in English when I wasn't sure. Pardon me for wrong Grammar.😵

Those who RES, make a new comment when you UNres, so I know you have commented.😳

wow this is almost similar to what i imagined serial wale Dev-Sona to behave n confess/confide in each other. There will be no over the top scene or drama, just communicating what they feel in simple terms to other person.
'everything abt you interests me...', 'would u like to stay in Mumbai' direct Dev n 'i dislike nat as i like you' direct bolane wali Sona- that is always inline with serial characters 😊

loved the OS Naj.👏
