Sharon has been a layered character having a large number of shades to it. Born with a silver spoon, Sharon was someone who never had to struggle to get something, if she wanted something ,she simply got it, which is why she turned into a spoilt brat and which I think is very obvious if you are given such upbringing. She was taught that she had an image, a reputation to maintain,to behave in a certain way. This is the major reason why she appeared to be a selfish and an arrogant bitch in the beginning, but the truth is she was so much more than that.It was only when Swayam entered her life ,did people get to see the undiscovered sides of Sharon. People began to see her through his eyes and that is when the soft ,innocent Sharon who is always hidden inside her shell ,came to light.
The fact that Swayam could read her mind, could understand her and could see the real Sharon behind the diva, terrified her. She built those walls around herself so that no one could break her ,but when she saw Swayam breaking those walls with so much ease, she didn't like it. A girl who had everything in the world ,but never knew what it was to live freely ,without having to care about your image as she had never experienced it. She had a loving family, but her parents were busy making money ,wanting to give their daughter a luxurious life but amidst all this ,she missed out on the joy one finds in small things. She never knew what it is to sit by local tea shop ,having hot cup of tea on a early monsoon morning, or the fun of going to college on a bicycle ,or having street food.
Probably until Swayam came into her life, even Sharon wasn't unaware of who she actually was. Its him who helped her find herself. Initially she wasn't happy with it ,as she didn't like to appreciate the fact that he knew her more than she knew herself. She tried to push him away ,hurting him ,insulting him and sometimes in the process getting hurt herself, but he never left her side. He was always there for her. It was then, when Sharon began to realize how much his presence in her life affects her. She was never used to having someone just for her so it took a while for her to sink that in..but when it did,she couldn't help falling for Swayam, and falling hard.
It took them ages to come together and even then the relationship status was always uncertain , and ofcourse one would say that the reason for this was Sharon's impulsive and Swayam's selfless nature who always let her go whenever she asked for it. Sharon has always been this complex and as a viewer you may adore her at times or despise her at times because she takes decisions hastily ,but that's what adds a charm to her character, because in all this ,she never stops loving Swayam ,and same goes with him as well, he may let her go but would never all out of love with her .This is why inspite of the uncertainty one always knows they are going be together sooner or later, which makes them so unique not just as a couple but as individuals also!..

When the show started, many of them hated Sharon for being so rude to swayam and kriya but every now and then we could see the soft girl buried inside her popping out of her. I think everyone started liking her after the RDX party scene where her true self was revealed.

Not really. Sharon was hated for what she did with Kria in the GS elections and more after the abandoned corridor track and that's late 2011 .

Ya I mentioned that she was hated coz of being rude to kriya which involves the GS elections. Many of them started loving swaron after the RDX party scene. And I think the abandoned corridor scene was and is one of the best scenes of swaron. Nobody could hate it. Its totally my opinion. No offence.😊

Urs explaination was d best among d lot😊. I too wud have hated Sharon for some time if I watched d show. But then I wud think dat wats d deal if she is shown grey? Isn't many heroes r shown jerk wid their so-called bad pasts n viewers treating them like gods then why have trouble in accepting a heroine who is shown like dis? Its not necessary dat all d heroines will be shown sweet, cheerful n bubbly. Kiya Gujral was accepted by IF people. But Kiya was not liked by some FB people. At least Sharon had some friends but Kiya had none in d beginning. Wat u all have described abt Sharon's character all I can say dat d director of ur show may know some people like Sharon in real n decided to break d stereotype dat not all women who r arrogant r villains n nasty women. Girls like Sharon n Kiya r only reserved for vamps in another shows. D director may also wanted to show dat not every time a man can change wid a woman's love but it can be d other way round too. At least Sharon was not like those jerk heroes who changed their girlfriends now n then till they met d heroine or kissed any hot men they saw. I saw 1 scene where Sharon slept near Swayam while they both were drunk n wen they were awake Sharon thanked him saying dat tumne mera faayda nahi uthaaya. D way she told him in a soft tone lukd like she is just like aby other normal girl. I also saw a scene where Sharon cries bitterly n cursing herself for letn a guy kiss her(I think it was Lavin Gothi as he was in BFF as Charlie's hero). D way she was shown broken lukd like as if she had never kiss anyone. And then there was a scene where for some reason I don't know she was teln Taani dat u need to stand for urself n not always u can be damsel in distress waiting for ur prince charming to save u. These were d things which showed dat Sharon may be arrogant but not a villain or a character who in unforgivable n unredeemable.

I agree that most of the shows want their protagonists to be a goody-two-shoes ,but D3 is a youth show ,so I guess the directors had written the characters in such a way cuz they knew it would be acceptable. We do come across people like Sharon in our daily life as well ,where we probably become too judgmental in the beginning only to realize that we can actually like such people later on.
Its not about having trouble of accepting a character like Sharon. Its the influence of the good natured people which overpowers our minds always. If Sharon had been nothing but an arrogant bitch who only thinks of herself, obviously no one will want to appreciate her.The thing with the grey characters is that since these people have some hidden qualities ,one can change their attitude towards such people only when they discover a trait that is unlike the usual expected from them. If Sharon would have been this rude, arrogant person throughout who can do anything it takes to achieve what she wants ,even if it meant compromising on her morals ,obviously no one would appreciate it right? Be it any character. And probably the unacceptance grows when you see that such a character is affecting some other supposedly positive character in a negative way.

Ultimately, as they say good overpowers evil, be it a guy or a girl ,if they are playing a negative character ,its only when you get to see some appreciable changes in them is when you begin liking them .Finally you need to have a reason to feel hatred or love towards someone.
Also ,Sharon wasn't ever a completely negative character. Like I said earlier, she had shades to it. In the beginning also ,she wasn't outright hated by people. She may be arrogant to the world but she was always shown soft with her dazzler group of friends. She was bossy and all but not totally bad,but ofcourse one had more reasons to dislike her than do otherwise. As her character was being explored more and more ,Swayam being the one instrumental in this, viewers could realize that they needed to know more about Sharon before making a judgment about her.Same thing goes with any character .
I really think you should watch the show ,cuz of all characters ,Sharon is the one which has gone through so many phases ,so many complexities but emerging stronger and better as a person everytime. Her journey has been one of the most amazing ones .Do watch it if you are so keen on knowing her.

P.S. I think this topic should have been on D3 forum.

I haven't written anything on IF in more than two years. But yes, @ topic maker, if you can, try to watch D3 from the beginning. I promise you that you will never regret it. Sharon's character was perhaps the most complex and layered to be shown in a positive way in an Indian youth show, especially at that time. D3 was the beginning of an era of youth shows with real characters with real flaws and real personalities. And I believe Sharon was the character that made it possible for future creators to introduce the non-innocent, non-goody-two-shoes female leads. Sneha and Vrushika, and more importantly Palki Malhotra did incredible jobs with that character. :)
