THE MEETING

Shri Krishna and Shriman Balarama sat side-by-side, talking to each other, along with their usual teasing banter involved. Their habit to tease each other all the time never faded from their Vrindavan days; it was one of the few things that neither of them missed. Both of them didn't want to think what they would have done if they had been separated. That was a taboo topic for them; they were born as soul mates, they will always be soul mates, yuga after yuga.

They heard the pitter-patter of little feet. Soon enough, a fair girl, one as fair as Balarama, and with a mischievous pair of brown eyes, just like Krishna, came running into the room.

"Bhaiya! Dau! Bhaiya! Dau!"

She promptly jumped, and squeezed herself in-between both her brothers.

"Hi little one!", chorused both the brothers.

"What have you been up to?", asked Shriman Balarama, smiling down at th little girl.

"I went to the Gauri Mandir with my friends, Dau. All alone that too", said Subhadra, proudly.

"Our little girl is growing up, Dau", said Krishna, smiling lovingly at his sister.

"And now, Bhaiya, Dau, I have a new Didi as well", said Subhadra, smiling happily.

"Really? And who would that be?", asked Krishna, eyes twinkling.

"Satya Didi, Bhaiya. She is as beautiful as Rukmini Bhabhi, and as intelligent. She is so brave. She also sings and dances..."

Subhadra jabbered on about her new found Satya Didi, who in fact was Rajkumari Satyabhama, the daughter of Satrajit of the Yadava clan.

The Divine brothers looked at each other; one's eyes filled with exasperation, one with mischief, and both with knowing.

Shri Krishna pretended to be reluctant while going to the temple. Seeing the pout forming on Subhadra's lips, He pretended to give in, and went back to His normal, mischievous self. He allowed His sister to pull Him towards the Gauri Mandir. He Himself wanted to go there to see Subhadra's Satya Didi. He smiled mischiveously. This was going to be interesting.

Meanwhile, in the garden of the Gauri Ma Mandir,

Satyabhama looked around the Pushpa Vatika, trying to find flowers required for her pooja.

Suddenly, she felt butterflies descend on her stomach, and a light blush caressed her fair cheeks, like the first hues of dawn were present there. She felt as if the man she had lost her heart to, Shri Krishna, was caressing her cheek.

'I have gone utterly mad', thought Satyabhama, flustered. Trying to calm herself, and trying not to feel the changes her heart, body and soul underwent the moment she thought His name, she looked around wildly. No one seemed to be there, or so her eyes told her. Her heart told her that He was around somewhere. Ignoring the red of her cheeks, she rushed towards the flowers which called out to her, trying to break the flames of love.

Picking the flowers, and still blushing, Satyabhama rushed to the Gauri Mata Mandir, not noticing a dark figure walking into the clearing, holding the hand of a little girl.

At the Gauri Mandir...

After finishing the pooja for Gauri Mata, Satyabhama placed her head at the feet of Gauri Mata, and prayed, "Mata, you know that I have not wanted much in life. You also know that my greatest dream in life is to marry Shri Krishna. Oh Mata! Bless me such that my dream becomes a reailty. If I don't reach His Lotus feet, I rather not marry at all"

She closed her eyes at Gauri Mata's feet. She felt something soft fall on her head. She opened her eyes, only to see the flower from Gauri Mata's hand. She took the flower, feeling elated. Her dream would come true. She had been blessed; by Gauri Mata Herself. Smiling widely, she looked at the moon-like face of the Goddess, her own moon-like face glowing with happiness, eyes shining.

She heard the sound of the temple bell being rung. She turned around, still smiling to see who it was, only to meet a pair of beautiful, mischievous, twinkling brown eyes.

The world stopped for Satyabhama. Nothin but He and she existed; a sense of familiarity, she felt; their relationship seemed ancient, as ancient as creation itself. She felt like she knew Shri Krishna; yuga after yuga; their relationship like that of the Earth and Sky, looking into each other's eyes all the time, the Sky protecting the Earth when needed, the Earth following the Sky. She felt like she was Prakriti, meeting her Purush; love surged through her; passion, with a tenderness unknown yet known to her, surged through her body, searing her very soul; the same feeling crackled in the air. Overcome with shyness, she looked down, blushing, eyes hooded. She looked down, to see Subhadra looking at her excitedly.

"Satya Didi!", said the little girl, excitedly.

"Hello Subhadra", said Satyabhama, smiling affectionately at the little girl.

"Bhaiya, this is Satya Didi. Satya Didi, this is my Kanha Bhaiya", said Subhadra, introducing both of them.

"Pranaam Rajkumari"

"Pranaam Dwarakadheesh"

"Are you done with your prayers?", asked Krishna, not taking his eyes off her.

"Ji, Dwarakadheesh", said Satyabhama, maintaining a calm tone, despite the rollercoaster of emotions going on within her internally.

"Satya Didi, may I ask you something?", asked Subhadra.

"Tell me, little one", said Satyabhama, smiling lovingly at Subhadra.

"I saw the flower on Gauri Ma's hand fall on your head. What does that mean?", asked Subhadra.

"It means, Subhadra, that Gauri Ma has blessed me. She has given me the answer to my question. Positively", said Satyabhama.

"What question was that, Didi?", asked Subhadra.

"A simple question: Would my dream become real? She said yes", said Satyabhama. As she said this, she looked at Krishna discreetly, only to find Him already staring at her, a tender look in His eyes and face. Flustered, she looked back at Subhadra, who asked her, "Does Gauri Mata bless everyone like this?"

"Yes, darling. If you are true in your wish, and loving and sincere in your devotion, Gauri Mata will bless you with all that you ask her", said Satyabhama. "She is ever-compassionate, ever-loving and ever-forgiving. Your mistakes, she will forgive. She will give you love in abundance. She will hug you when you cry, and cry along with you. She will avenge you, as a mother does for her child"

"Really Didi?", asked Subhadra, wide-eyed.

"Yes Subhadra. She is a Mother. A Mother loves her children unconditionally. She understands them even better than they understand themselves", said Satyabhama.

"Very well said, Rajkumari", said Shri Krishna, observing Satyabhama.

"Thank you Dwarakadheesh", said Satyabhama, looking down at His feet for a second, before turning back to do a final prayer. This time, she took Subhadra by the hand, and led her to the idol.

'You think you understand the nature of Devi Parvati as you are a param bhakt; though that is very true, that is not the main reason', thought Shri Krishna. 'The main reason is because you are a Mother as well; the Earth is in you. Your connection and love for nature, and people in general stems from the fact that you are Nature Herself. You are swayam Dharti Ma, as our children call you. You are the Mother of the Universe in it's entirety. You will realise all this soon though, my love. You will realise it soon'

On Mount Kailash...

"My brother and His games", said Mata Parvati, shaking Her head.

"He is right though", said Lord Shiva, smiling at His wife. "Devi Satyabhama is Nature Herself. She is Prakriti. It's like how you and Bhu-Devi are one, my love"

"I know. But He is playing with my param Bhakt", said Mata Parvati, fake scowling.

"Your param Bhakt happens to be His wife, yuga after yuga", said Lord Shiva, shaking His head. "Plus, do you think you can stop Him?"

"When You can't Swami, how can I?", said Mata Parvati. "That doesn't mean I won't prank Him"

"I know you will, love. I know you will", said Lord Shiva, smiling at His wife.

Both of them turned to look back at Earth, marveling at the leela of Lord Vishnu.
