I think people were just interested in the different concept of the film plus it was during student break- hence more people went to watch it. Students and married couples and women I heard were the main targets for this film. Esp the married couples connected a lot with the film.
Am suprised it did as well as it did with the mixed reviews from critics. But the audience seemed to like it more than the critics. It doesn't hurt that kareena was in the film because other films released around Ki and ka flopped. Arjun also surprisingly does have fans. Ki and ka would have even collected more than 50 cr if it wasn't for Jungke book and fan relasing and eating up Ki and ka's business.
I realy don't care why it was a hit. Am just glad kareena gave a hit in a film she was actually a lead with a hero who isn't a khan or a Devgan. Hopefully this gives her more confidence to work with newcomers.
