was Kangana's performance that good , that it overshadowed Kalki's performance in Margarita with a Straw...???

except for that 7 min verbal duel between the two roles, was the film really that good to deserve a National Award...???

kalki's performance throughout the film on the other hand was electrifying to say the least, it worked on so many dimensions simultaneously...I am surprised she did not win the National Award for this Film!...

well Deepika did not get a National Award, nor was she a contender when it came to Kalki. Kangana got it over Kalki, who I feel Deserved it more than Her.

Kalki in Margarita. She was beyond excellence in it! I'm glad she got the special jury national award.

yes I did , and that is the reason why I made this Post actually !...she deserved the Best Actress Award. not a special Jury mention Award...her performance was just brilliant when her role demanded her to be physically confined yet psychologically so layered and explosive...

The fact is nowadays only popular actors/actresses are chosen for main awards.. As for kangana , yes she was damn good as datto but as a whole performance, kalki's performance was better.. But atleast she got special jury mention award.. Even nawazzudin got special jury award for gangs of wasseypur , when his performance must havr been better than many..

Both were brilliant but Kalki had a really challenging role to play and a really challenging film to carry on her shoulders. And for that, she has been awarded the special jury prize which unlike oir desi award jury prizes are the highest awards in the Rajat Kamal category (A cash prize of 2 lakh unlike best actress who is given 50k).

So you should be happy that Kalki has been given this over the best actress award. Check the earlier winners in the special jury category-Satyajit Ray, Ritupo*no Ghosh, Sreekar Prasad, Amol Palekar, Pankaj Kapur, Vishal Bharadwaj and now the latest addition to the list-Kalki Koechlin! :D

But have a dream. Her performance epitomizes that dream."

Jury chair Satish Kaushik further went on to say that, "We have also honoured Kalki in Margarita with a Straw for the same reason. Her performance is inspiring. As for those who are saying Ramesh Sippy and I have favoured Bollywood I've one thing to say. We've favoured excellence. Not geography."
