How can regular newspapers and everyday news channels be anybody's PR? This happens every year. The awards that get the most hype are these main best movie, actor, actress and director. Even random news channels focus on them more. Not saying Kalki's win is smaller or something but that is how it works every year. Going by that logic..even best actor and director are getting more hype..so all of them must be blamed for stealing the lime light.

Kangana can easily do what Kalki did. I watched TWMR finally yesterday and thought Kangana was brilliant. I usually wait to see hyped films long after the hype is gone so my view is not biased in anyway. After watching TWMR finally, I can honestly say KR's national award is deserving.

Exactly. I myself didn't know that the Special Jury Award is this prestigious until I came across a couple of posts in here. Usually, the awards in these 4 main categories end up becoming the most discussed ones, so the hype comes with the category itself, irrespective of the winners. I googled these awards and came to know that even Nawazuddin won an award in this category for GoW, Kahaani and Talash and was left wondering as to how I missed it.

I haven't watched MWAS, but going by the response in this forum, it indeed sounds like a terrific performance. And I'm more than glad that Kalki got much deserved acclaim. If anything, it only opens doors for more such movies, characters and risks. I saw her twitter yesterday and she looks immsensely happy about it. 😆

See, I cannot compare because I did not see MWAS. I don't even know where to watch the film except illegally which I don't want to do. I was lucky to see MWTR because it was somewhat of a hit and came to a theater within driving distance.

Yeah,special jury is Rajat Kamal but I think what makes it 'special jury' is that they pick the winner without any limitation-likr it's not just limited to actor or actress, etc.. Each year they pick up the best irrespective of the department they work in and I guess that's why it has the highest cash prize and also I think that's what makes this award a really special one for Kalki. It's one thing to be pitted against other actresses across India and another to be pitted against the whole industry and winning an award. So happy for Kalki.
