I think you'd have to be a clever, manipulative woman (at least to some extent), to get your family out of poverty and reach where her family is now. Even her whole educating Dev at the expense of her other daughters was a calculated risk. It's clear that she understood that eventually her daughters would leave her and get married while Dev, being the son, would take care of her presumably forever. Hence she got him educated and left Neha alone even after they had amassed enough money to get Neha educated.

I think while Ishwari's character is super annoying, it's also very interesting and I'm liking the grey shades. She's not an evil woman or mother. She just wants whats best for her children and she does sincerely love them.

@lovely_lady completely agree with you. Keep eye on profit, make deals that are profitable. Dev is that profitable deal.
And investing in Neha is not that great, because as you rightly said she will leave after marriage. Then what. If something goes wrong in Neha's life, where will she turn. Everything on Dev. Ishwari made her life secure by investing in Dev and have left her daughters to fend for themselves if they face a similar situation like her.

Honestly I don't find it as some big deal.
There was not any hidden dangerous intention. She never wanted to present sona as a vamp. She feels that sona is getting more than she deserves or her payment is more than she deserves, and that's right, she doesn't know that Sona lost her job becoz of Dev and was offered more money without asking for it.

The way she had struggled for every penny, that's why she knows importance of money.

There was no planning and plotting, she wanted sona to cook, but sona didn't know how to cook and even cook was not there, so she cooked for everyone.

OK she cooked and ate the food which she shouldn't. Let's say she is careless, not manipulative.

I find her sexist and selfish woman. She gave everything to her son taking away from daughters. Fine, everything happened according to her plans, her son is successful and taking care of everyone. But, she is bhagwan for one child and not proper insaan for rest. She knew that son would stay with her, and daughters would leave one day. Looking at her own struggle, she should give proper education to her daughters too, so that if bad time comes in their life, they can get proper job and earn for their family.

It felt funny to me. She wanted to get her money's worth out of Sona.

But once Sona said she does not know to cook, Eshwari does cook all by herself. There is grey to this character... but she is not bad per say by attitude. Her possessive for her son would turn her bad.

Eshwari, is the possessive mother who cannot let her son go. In Indian Society this is an everyday affair. Dev is also a mamas boy.

This is in fact is the reality and an every day occurrence in most traditional Indian families mostly with only one son.

I like devakshi as a couple would love to see them together but the package deal woth whom dev will enter her life is terrible.
This maa beta should be left alone
She is damn shrewd and anyone around her will end up getting hurt, her daughter also became a target due to her insecurity, shrewdness n partiality. She will always be illogically adamant and then dev without thinking blind in mom's love takes decisions from heart rather than brain which hurts rest of the people around them.
She is not a cook understand a difference between a professional dietician and a professional cook.
Even is she learns cooking like kittchu can he learn like her how to plan a diet?

She has definitely grey shades in her.
Although I dont find her to be bad but she is too possessive about her son and wants everything to be done according to her wishes.
She is too stubborn to listen to anyone and she should stop controlling Dev .

Ishwari and Dev both are possesive for each other... and Neha had told this to Ishwari once... i feel bad for Neha that she couldn't get good education and even equal love and this is the reason she is showing her frustration here in present...
