Astonishing factors

Most of us are hooked to know the secrets or hidden mystery of many temples in and around India. Though we are surfing the internet to know temple details, its always a pleasure to know from the narration of the person who actually visit the place.

I have seen few temples and got to know more exciting news from localite than from the books/internet. So can we have the discussion of old temples including the architecture which is not already present in wiki😉. It will be more interesting, if its related to SiyaRam.

As the thread created in SKR, I start with Lord Ram. Many of us would have seen Rameswaram temple. The entire area is so divine.Even in summer, u can see the floor of temple from the entrance till the shiv linga its completely wet. Local people told that the sea water is beneath the temple (not sure😕).

Actually, it is said that there are 64 thirthas and 24 are important, but we can see only 12 among them. All these holy water bodies (wells) are located around the temple. If I remember right, in sita theertham, you can see people showing the stones which floats. These stones are the ones used to construct the Ram setu. The stones are not pumice but they have pores in it. The secret of these floating stones are not yet clear.

There is a temple in dhanushkodi with idols of Ram (Koothandaramar),Sita, lakshman, hanuman and Vibhishana. The original temple was built some 800-1000 yrs back (no authenticity). This temple was reconstructed after the cyclone hit in 60's. People told this is the place where Ram made Vibhishana as Lanka king. People can go to vimana, the terrace of the temple and can have the aerial view of the town.

Chimbaram had lots of secrets. Chidambara rahasyam.

In Trivandrum there is a temple called Attukal. The Pongala festival of this temple is very famous and brings the city to a standstill. It is the festival where women folks cook pongal, rice etc on earthen pots in the heath and do the samarpan to devi.

Ramya shruthi when ever u visit a temple, try and get the sthala puranam . That will give u in-depth knowledge of the place, something we can never get on the net.

My knowledge on temple outside Kerala is limited though I know some stories like Puri temple the idols were half made because the king wanted to check the progress of idols made by Vishwakarma

@ Jaishree: Yes, I have visited both meenakshi and nataraj temples. Chidambaram really made me spellbound. I already mentioned about the earth's gravity which falls on the feet of natraj and there are many secrets associated with it.
The future life prediction of human is in palm leaves (Naadi astrology written by sage agasthiyar) is from Vaitheeswaran temple which is very close to chidambaram. (I have read mine also from its branch, so far true😆).

Thirupathi, Lord Srinivasa is trying to pay of the debut of Kubera which he took for marrying Padmavati from the offerings made by devotees

From our own experience only, because for people like me temples in kerala is not known fully. So do share the info as u wish.
